While porting one of my websites to my existing account with hostgator, my ported website somehow ended up in a separate business plan (meaning additional hundreds of dollars). Unfortunately I didn't notice that until many months later (I was on multi-year billing plan). When I asked hostgator about this they said there was not anything they could do about it because of "policy." I finally got it escalated to the "admins" who would not communicate with me directly. They just reviewed the front-end communicate and sent me an email saying they couldn't do anything. In the meantime, my other business plan was renewed for three years without a notification. They say they sent the notification, and maybe they did, but it was not in my inbox or spam (and this has happened multiple times where there hypothetical notifications do not show up on my end). Even just after a few weeks they again said they could not cancel or refund the plan because it was already charged. Can't or won't? I think that's obvious. The admins again made no effort to talk to me directly. They just send out their front end people who have no power to do anything except say what they are supposed to say, and the admins hide behind their electronic screens. I've never experienced such poor customer service in this type of situation. I'll be moving to another host that communicates with customers and gives them the benefit of the doubt.
I had several phone conversations with different support representatives to correct the site problem. The
Problem was they did not review prior conversations and emails regarding the problem and some made snap decisions which did not resolve the problem.
It finally took a CSR who took the time to review all the correspondence and resolve the problem
Earlier the response was faster with Staff responding well. Now there is too much delay for any response
I just wanted a LAMP site w/o any bells and whistles. I could not figure out how to get anything but a Wordpress site. I ended up logging on with ssh and deleting most of what was there so that I could put up the few pages that I needed. Also, it took quite a few iterations with support to get mail forwarding to work. That really should have worked out of the box. Apart from that, everything is working as expected.

All hosts have good and bad points. HostGator has been generally easy to use, and I have had no issues with reliability.
Your services are better than last year. Mostly your support team taking time to solve issues but now from 2 months they are performing well
The customer service rep wasn't sure what happened. She also didn't explain how to solve the problem in layman terms. I did an update of the different applications including Wordpress which solved the problem. It was by accident that o did the update. I guess that was what she tried to explain but she used vocabulary that I wasn't familiar with and it was hard to hear her. I'm glad my site is back up. Thank you.
It took much longer than expected to resolve the DNS service failure, but after almost 4 weeks it was resolved.
It has been an excellent opportunity to learn about web service and interface with IOT. Getting support is easy and the staff helpful. Recommend Host Gator for your hosting needs.
HostGator is a good web hosting provider, although I had little interaction with Hostgator in building my latest website.
Great! It has all I need and excellent customer service. Easy User interface. One suggestion though as I have multiple hosting account on dashboard I can't make differentiation between those.
Everything has been going well. I haven't had any issues in a while. The sales thing that popped up when I'm trying to make changes is annoying--gets in the way.
Straight forward, I'm happy with the hoasting.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
