It was very difficult getting my website up live and trying to connect with customer support. We kept getting give it 24 hours or 2 -3 days. This delayed us getting our website up and running for weeks.
I had a recurring problem with my IP address getting blocked for a while, but that seems to be resolved.
Was fair and got the issue submitted quickly but did not address the concern fully, leaving me to have to rebuild part of it myself.
I was able to chat to clear up the confusion of the require to renew when I just want to keep my website up if I don't renew the two tools I didn't used as much.
I have discovered on three occasions while being with HostGator that my site has gone off-line... it is only when I go to look at it that I discover this. It was due to some security certificate issue.

Your customer service is terrible, your people are poorly trained, I supposedly have an SSL certificate that you guys loaded onto my page but people are constantly having problems saying there's no SSL certificate. You guys need to do better
Good site to navigate - I don't like that the first page is an ad for additional services and it keeps coming back even if I click that I'm not interested
The services offered are great and competitive. They set up process is fairly quick and easy, even for someone like me who is not an expert. Unfortunately, the customer service experience (for me at least) has not been the best. I have had to call on issues only to get wrong and unclear information.
I often get a lot of spam emails. I wish so much that this issue could stop.
Generaly speaking it is good. However the continuous update of SSL certificate after the website is not visible any more, and when I am reassured by the help line that this problem is fixed permantly, caused me in the past a lot of frustration
In the past I've had a lot of issues with not getting emails from Hostgator when my payment doesn't go through, with the automatic payment not going through, and not being notified. But i think that issue has finally, after several years of problems, been resolved.
I had some weirdness with email. Roundcube Webmail and Outlook clients both. I'll keep my eye on them as at times I cannot successfully send email.
I like the on line service guy. It's a pretty quick response. I left my request and when I came back, my website was come into life again. Thank you guys. Such professional.
Sorry. It has been a while since I have talked with the tech support person. My memory is that it went very well and all my issues were resolved.
While HostGator has been a reliable web hosting provider, I am disturbed about seeing the price of services double in two years.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
