Hopper Let Me Down

I booked a trip that claimed to have many included perks. The outbound flight was on Virgin Atlantic (main cabin) serviced by Delta who downgraded me to basic economy which took away the perks like seat selection. I reached out to Hopper FOUR times so far with no response but to contact the airlines directly. An hour and sixteen minutes on hold with Virgin Atlantic and an hour and ten minutes on the phone with Delta to get "you need to contact Hopper". This has been a nightmare. I will only ever book through the airlines directly. Hopper is useful to estimate when to buy but that is all. Do not book through them.

I have used Hopper exclusively for some years now. The savings to myself, friends and family have been several hundreds! Working directly with any airlines gives you the cost at that moment. You will never get a message from them telling you, oh hey, wait ours prices will be dropping, we'll let you know!

This app is the worst! The customer service is terrible. You can only email back and forth--no way to call anyone--and they take forever to get back. Plus you get bounced around from agent to agent so nothing ever gets resolved. They cancelled my flight for no reason and blamed it on the airline. But the airline (Frontier) said it was Hopper! No one will take responsibility so now I'm out over $100. You don't really save money on flights because there are so many service fees. Plus you can't buy baggage so you end up paying way more through the airlines buying it later. Also airlines don't really like bookings through third parties, so then you have to deal with that. This app is just atrocious in my opinion. I will NEVER use them again!

I like the colored calendar, making it really quick to find cheapest flight days per month. Alerts are nice, and overall simple but with the filters you want. Easy to see time you'll be waiting for next flight.

Searching for flights... it said one price, once click on that to reserve they send a little bunny saying heads up the price per ticket just increased by 20$! Then they have fees... and they give themselves a 5$ tip of your money!

Hopper is Trash

If I could give Hopper zero stars, I would. Please never, ever use Hopper to purchase flights. If you want to use the app to search for flight deals that's one thing but NO. NOT. PURCHASE. My round trip flight was to Italy in April 2020 was cancelled because of COVID and they are refusing to refund me. They have absolutely no customer service. You submit a ticket with their AI bot which takes months to receive any kind of response. Beyond disgusted and disappointed. Will never purchase from them ever again. They should be shut down for the number of people they've screwed over in the last six months. Poor excuse of a company.

This service charged my mother twice even though they didn't book the ticket. Now she has no money to afford her RENT and hopper refuses to call us to handle it. Terrible customer service. What a scam!!!!!

I used to write nothing but five star reviews for Hopper. Then, during the Pandemic, Hopper decided to cut their overhead at the expense of customers. They shut down email links, they turn off phone lines and they laid off Customer Service Representatives. All to save money! They left me stranded with multiple tickets to China. Shame on them. Overnight Hopper went from a respectable company to a organization that can not be trusted.

Lacking customer service
January 10, 2023

The hotel price appeared cheaper, turned out to be the same if not more after all the fees and deposit. On top of that, they charged me the deposit fee twice. It's been about 2 weeks and I haven't heard back from any customer service rep. The app wants you to upgrade to VIP support, aka pay money to get help. Ugh terrible, never using this app again!

Found great prices from San Francisco to Brisbane, Australia. I received notification of a price drop and had the flight booked shortly after. It's so nice not to have to actively watch all the different airlines everyday and hoping you don't miss anything!

Free cancellation cost me $160.16!

I booked a hotel stay for a week with my daughter to the Florida Keys. After reading some Yelp reviews that were less than flattering on the hotel, we called to get information ourselves. Since the resort was not offering all of its pre-Covid amenities (hotel and bar open only part of the week and only 4 hours per day when open) but was still advertising them, we opted to cancel. I was within the cancellation period, yet when I checked my credit card statement today, I found that Hopper didn't refund the entire amount--they kept themselves a hefty $160.16. No reason, no way to contact them or dispute. I'm going to have to go through my credit card company to dispute. What a headache, and so dishonest.

They bite

Oh you can pay them money. But trying to get in touch with them is a nightmare. All I wanted was to change my name from Don to Donald. They finally called. 8 hours after my flight. They said talk to the airlines. Of course the airlines said talk to them. Anyway it cost me 900 dollars to learn not to use hopper

I had to cancel a flight booked with Hopper. Sent them 6 messages and never received a reply. It said they were sending a message to their support team and I would be contacted. Ended up doing it on my own directly with the airline. Extremely frustrating that there is no phone number at which we can reach them.
Will think twice before I use Hopper again

Worst service ever

I am so disgusted by the service I received from this $#*!ty $#*! company. Over 3 days of communication and got no where with them, at the end they booked my wife and new born baby on a separate flight from me, what a joke. I am suggesting to any one looking to travel to never use this site or company for travelling. If there is a chance to give them less than 1 star I would. After reading this review if you decided to use them you will be an idiot. I want to say so much about this, but don't want to waste my time on this. Good luck staying in service if you continue to serve your customers that way.

Customer service is awful. ZERO flexibility with ticket reservations. Does not keep you updated on trip changes.

I ended up having to pay $500 extra to change my trip reservation, and had to do it through the airline. 0/10, would not recommend

Price Freeze SCAM

Don't waste your time using this app; their so-called price freeze feature that's supposed to lock in an airfare rate to help save money ended up costing me more than me booking the trip without it. I'm going to share my review everywhere I can, but in the meantime don't be a victim like me.

Hopper it's such a bad service, we book our flights to Europe in March, these guys kept on changing our flight till the point that the price went up. At the point they were actually able to secure our flight it went from a 14 hour flight to a 38 flight and we are traveling with a 1 year old baby. The only other option given was to cancel the flight and book it at a higher price. Lesson learned, we are actually booking the flights directly with the airline. Hopper never again, you suck

First Time Disappointment

First time using this app. Was waiting for the price drop that it promised me upon logging on. Next time I check it says price expected to rise sharply book now. Ended up paying $200 more for my two tickets. Very frustrating

No alert
September 1, 2019

Received no alert my freeze was over so I had to pay more. Now have no back up for if I get sick. I'm 68 w/chronic pain. Can't believe flights don't auto carry baggage and cancellation if you have a good reason.
