Signed up for Homestars after the rep said I should expect 1-3 leads a day and that there were over 2700 leads in 2020, most of them going unanswered. I jumped through all the hoops and got a 90% rating. I paid $200 a month for 5 months and only got 7 leads, none of which even turned into jobs. I brought this up with my rep and they just pointed out that they don't guarantee leads and that I agreed to a year term... total garbage! I do lots of online marketing and this has been one of the worst ones yet.

They're like scammers. They will have you sign a 12 month contract and if you cancel you'll owe them 30% of the yearly amount as cancellation fee which is stupid and nonsense.
Other than that? They'll send you some leads the first month and some very suspicious as if they paid these "customer" to call you and ask for an estimate. You send the estimate and they go silent.
I decided to stop using homestars, and now they're using collection agency to try to collect $800 of what they call "unpaid fees".

Value your hard earned money and don't waste it in this garbage "company". I made the mistake and I'm writing this review to save from doing the same mistake as I did, with the hope that you're not reading this after you after you've already subscribed with them.

This year was so bad! I've been with homestars for three years now as a business owner marketing with them. My account manager was Jessica Lee. First two years were wonderful but this year was garbage. No costumer service. Seems like they were doing the bare minimum with me. Sending me one lead a month for over 100.00$$$ if any knows leads that's really bad. Other websites I can make $5000. 00 off a $15.00 investment. I'm not going back unless I get a better manager and even then I'm very skeptical. I have spent over $700.00 this year $130.00 a month one year contract and I'm stuck in this sh@# show now. I've made $800 off the site and it's summer I should be raining in leads from them but I guess I don't take priority this year. Watch about. Just go by monthly and only in the summer time. Winter leads are rare.

They promis lead generating on this website as the biggest of the sale, why else get homestars? When i have discrepancies with what leads im getting from the site, I was told its my fault for not getting enough reviews, when i have 98% they say 99% might be better lol. I tried to cancel this service, calling, sending emails and blocking my account, they persisted and finally billed me another 400.3 months of junk leads (if any came in) with another 4th month. 1600 dollars in the $#*!ter with these guys. You can get better jobs on kijiji.

After two days of trying to unblock a pipe from our basement to no avail, I turned to professional help, Mr. Rooter. Less than a hour from my first call, George Shakh arrived and with his camera equipment showed me the blockage, 44 feet from my bathroom.
We discussed what needed to be done and within 15 minutes I had a quote, accepted it, he made a appointment for the next day. Three men arrived by 8:30 and began work. By 4:00 they found the pipe 8 1/2down and repaired it. A very hot humid day, Alex, Andrew, and Eugene all went beyond the call to finish the job. A huge Thank You to all for a great experience and I will definitely call for future help.

We had our tub/shower replaced with a beautiful walk in shower this week and could not be happier-beautiful shower, friendly, courteous installers-Mike, Ahmed, and Jonathan and a wonderful contact person, Samantha. The installers worked a very long day installing and cleaning up after themselves. Samantha was with us from the very beginning, keeping us informed of every step from ordering our product, to checking in with us on installation day, to follow up the day after installation. Just got new fences installed in my backyard by a company called MG Fence. Amazing job, quality materials. Attention to detail and a very competitive price. My neighbours were somewhat reluctant to proceed with the project but were so happy with the end result. I thoroughly recommend this company if you want to put value on your property. Flow Teck Quality Air Systems installed an air conditioner for me this past week.
James was the best. Very knowledgeable and honest in what my needs were for my home. Very fair in price and the quality of work was excellent. Showed up on time, very respectful of my home( even wore booties over their shoes!), cleaned up after the job was complete and explained everything from start to finish.
If you are looking for a straight forward no nonsense company that gets the job done this is it.
Will be having Flow Teck back to do more work in my home.

I don't believe the reviews on homestars.ca. I found one company with perfect 10 score and raving reviews that they are always on time. However, for me, they were a no show. I wasted time and money to make sure I was available and also got a sitter for my kids. I didn't get a call until almost 2 hours later.

Anyway, I tried to post my review but homestars will not post my honest experience because no exchange of money was made. It really makes me wonder how many reviews are real.

Some Cos have more than 1200 reviews with 10 score or almost 10 on homestars.ca

I figured out it is a shameless and pure scam after one of those Cos screwed me up. But homestars.ca has rejected my "bad" review!

Why does google put them on top of searches? Does homestars.ca pay google for participating in this scam?

It should be so easy for google to investigate and find out if homestars.ca and homestars.com are 50% scam or 90% fraud!

I run a small snow removal company, they called saying they had several leads in our area but since they just launched here they didn't have any other companies on their site to give them to. My partner had heard of Homestars in Toronto and had heard good things so decided to give it a go. None of the leads we got were from before we signed up, we got very few in general and only one that we were actually able to take on. We've been trying to cancel for weeks and all they do is bounce us around from person to person and don't do anything. The also just charged us for another month when we have clearly wanted to cancel our membership.

For a company that is specifically made to help customers find good companies to work with, it's ironic how terrible of a company they are.
