The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I booked a carpet stretching appointment for 10:00 am on Saturday morning. At 8:00 am i received a text and an email to say that the appointment had been rescheduled to 10:00am on Monday. No phone call, no apologies, simply a "we're the only game in town, take it or leave it".
Needless to say i canceled everything, and have to start the whole exercise from scratch.
WE GOT TOLD THAT WE WOULD'NT BE CHARGED UNLESS WE GOT THE LEAD. HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS LATER ABSOLUTLEY NO LIVE CALLS. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE IN BUSINESS!
I was a member of home advisor as a service provider. They send you leads and charge you for those leads without to personally picking through them. Had I known that I would've never agreed to their service to begin with. I pause my lead flow so I didn't get charged anything for 30 days. They turned it back on, stole $267.50 out of my bank account, and refused to refund. I deleted my account telling them that I did not want my companies good name associated with their scam artist business model. Contractor stay away, unless of course you want no control over your own money.
Iv been charged multiple fees for leads that I talked to for 30 seconds resulting in no business as they say the price is to much switch is cool, but there needs to be a party from homeadvisor that talks to these people and find out what they need and price they are willing to pay before making the contractor pay for the leads. I have paused my account with homeadvisor for the fact it seems they will send you any lead just to be getting money from you without even talking to lead. Again I am highly disappointed and would recommend anyone looking for more business to create you a website on your own and pay for a little radio time and small promotions in restaurants and other local hardware stores. Homeadvisor you suck that's all.
Home Advisor doesn't work with clients without forcing to give them authorization to contact us at any time including sales, marketing, 3rd vendor calls... This is not fair request so I will never agree. Avoid Home Advisor business. I prefer to give them 0 rating.
I SIGHN UP WITH HOME ADVISOR AND THEY PROMISED ME WORK AND LOT MORE JUST TRYING TO CATCH ME IN. I ACCEPTED THE LEADS, CALLED THEM AS I SUPPOSED TO AND NEVER GOT THE CREDIT FOR THE LEADS AND WHEN I CALLED TO GIVE ME CREDIT FOR THEY SAID THEY CAN'T. ONE OF THEM TOLD ME ONE THINK AND THE OTHER SUPERVISOR TOLD ME SOMETHING ELSE. ATHEY SEND THE LEAD TO 3+ CONTRACTORS AND IF THEY ALL ACCEPT THE LEADS THEY ALL ARE CHARGED FOR. SOME OF THE ADDRESSES NOT EVEN EXIST SAME WITH THE PHONE NUMBERS. ALL THE AGENTS FROM HOME ADVISOR ARE TRAINED TO FULL YOU NOT EVEN ONE IS A TRUSTWORTHY AGENT NONE OF THEM. THEY ARE GETTING MILLIONAIRE WITH RIPPING OFF CONTRACTORS. WE ARE WORKING TO HARD TO BEING FULL BY THEM. WE ALL HAVE TO GET TOGETHER AND STOP THIS KIND OF SCAM.
I have a company who does the counter top they told me I don't need a license in order to install and sale granite quartz tops, as soon as they charge My card they start sending me tile repair works and I realized they scammed me! I email and called and said Stop don't charge me cancel my service and return my money back and they did not respond at all 5 emails send no one is responded stay away beware from them!
Do not business with them Never! They are fully scammed people until got the money
As a contractor I have been contacted by Home Adviser sales reps on multiple occasions. Normally I've been to busy, and not looking for more work, but decided to take a minute to hear out one of the Reps about leads. The rep from H.Ad. Continued to call and pressure me to respond to jobs they had been emailing me, even though I explained I wasn't interested in any of the smaller leads they were pushing my way.
The rep continued to call, and was increasingly rude and tried to high pressure me to take their low quality leads... until I finally informed them to remove me from any and all contact lists.
This company should be put out of business not just for lying to contractors, charging for things they shouldn't have, also after being told to stop calling dozens of times each year, they forcefully and aggressively continue to call, joke around and some harass. This used to be service magic they had to change their name after their reputation Went below grade. In contractor world they are know as scamers and deceitful organization.
I received a list of possible companies. They either didn't call or when they did they didn't do what I specifically said I needed. Rather than waste time with this company, I would advise using a simple google search.
I went on this site hoping to find someone for bath fixture upgrade. I got 3 quotes, 1 was pretty good. What happens is he took the job for his own personal work, in the end he wanted to charge more, what he said in the beginning was not what he wanted to charge. When we asked for a receipt of work done, he said he forgot his invoice/receipt book and would bring it the next time. We felt like were hostages because he had to come back because he was taking too long and we had to go to family event. He arrived late, was not the cleanest looking guy, but we wouldn't mind if he hadn't smelled like he came from another job where he sweated a lot. He ruined some of the fixtures by adding some foamy glue to stick on the wall. He didn't see anything wrong with it, till I pointed out it was set wrong. Like 12 o'clock was 3 o'clock kinda thing. I had to get another plumber to finish and fix it. No one at HomeAdvisor ever responded after I sent a complaint. Will never use them again.
At least 3 representatives from Home Advisor have called me daily for the last four days. I've never even gone to Home Advisor to request services! I Googled wallpaper hangers in my area and called two local companies, not affiliated with HomeAdvisor, and ever since then I've been inundated with phone calls from Home Advisor Representatives. I've asked repeatedly to be removed from their list, but it hasn't been done... Be careful when Googling any type of home repair because HomeAdvisor will leach on to you and they will not give up.
Home advisor was good a few years back now their leads are junk and they let anyone come aboard. The new contracts are not qualified professionals and are undercutting by half or more ruining the industry that I'm in. They set up their app so you can easily press the wrong buttons to accept leads and then have to call to try to get a credit, which is futile. There system even accepts leads for you and they say sorry we can't help you because we can't prove it. Was once a good company now a terrible company. That's why I gave it a two rating or it would of received a one star.
I had called HomeAdvisor and set up a handyman service for the following week. The morning of the project I received two texts confirming the appointment at 8:30... by 10 o'clock no one had showed. I tried to call the phone listed on the text message and was informed they only communicate by email... when I opened my emails there's one from HA informing me that they had refunded my credit card... no other info. I called them and was told the handyman had canceled last minute. No text, no phone call, no reschedule... nothing but a generic email with no info. I am on a deadline and now have to scramble to find a REPUTABLE source to finish my project in time... BUYER BEWARE!
I went onto the homeadvisor website. They have fixed pricing for certain jobs. I clicked and scheduled to have my septic tank pumped. A service a majority of homeowners use on a regular basis. I selected a day and time (1 1/2 week away)input my credit card information and confirmed I was scheduling a septic pumping. A few days before the service was to happen I received a call from a contractor to confirm a pipe cleaning. I explained I needed a pumping not pipe cleaning. He told me sorry but he would contact homeadvisor to rectify the issue.
The day before the scheduled service I called homeadvisor to see the status. The first advisor I spoke with couldn't understand what the issue was. So I was transferred to a different advisor, shocking only spoke and understood broken English. He to couldn't understand what the issue I was having. He wouldn't stop speaking long enough for me to hardly talk. I finally had to get rude with him and demand to cancel the incorrect scheduled service and refund me.
If homeadvisor can't pay more attention to their customers needs I worry how they intend to take care of they're customers.
THEY GENERATE 70% OF THEIR FAKE LEADS AND THEN THEY DONT CREDIT WHEN YOU DISPUTE. THEY SEND YOU WRONG NUMBER, CUSTOMERS THAT NEVER ANSWER, AND LEADS LIKE Mickey Mouse.
LAWSUIT!
I have never in my life seen such a big name company put on such a big Scam as Home Advisors... I signed up for this leads fairytale and it is the Biggest scam...
They charge my company for every lead ranging from $80-150 that we didn't even
Get a contracts on. I was mislead by their poorly trained, young adults (who was trained also to lie for the company) Then I asked for a supervisor, and she pass the phone to her friend sitting next to her. ABSOLUTELY unexceptable for a well known business.
They should have their business license revoked and BURNED!
There are 2 kinds of real estate appraisers. Residential Appraisers and General Appraisers.
Because of an apparently deliberate error they list Appraiser - General and Appraiser - Real Estate. This should be Appraiser - Residential. They send Bad Leads to Residential Appraisers for Commercial properties and refuse to refund the lead fees which are very expensive for leads which are prohibited by law for residential appraisers. I warn other residential appraisers not to fall for this rip off.
As a pro i would like to say this company is a scam, they send leads at 3am claiming its real customers but they are not since i could never get hold of the customers who submitted their requests at 3 am in the morning
I am a contractor. They send me bad leads and charge me an enormous amount for them. No one was real and when I canceled they said I need to wait 15 days and charge me again. A lot of money expend for nothing. Amigos no los contraten. Cobran por cada lead que les mandan asi no tomen el trabajo o no este en el area que ustedes querian. Pesima experiencia. No los contraten.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
