The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Henry was great! Super helpful and made sure I liked what I got! Very professional and would highly recommend.
This was my first time using Home Advisor. I was able to find multiple providers in a short amount of time. All the places I contacted made contact within 1 business day. The provider I chose was very good and I was able to use the ratings provided to make my decision.
Quick results, receiving 3 replies almost as immediately after inputing need. Met with ~5 star contractor who provided desired response. Job went well and exceeded expectations.
These people are nothing but a scam. DO NOT waste your time this whole company needs to be SHUT DOWN! They don't tell you anything and when you try to cancel they DO NOT cancel it and they STILL CHARGE YOU after you canceled. This is completely unacceptable.
Help me find a suitable knowledgeable company to work on my brick & stone project. Greatly appreciate their help & support.
Requested a painter from Angie/Home advisor. After 2 cancels arrived & prepped the walls. Left after 3-4 hours of work. After canceling 2 more times, he returned & painted one hall wall & bathroom & left. He Never returned.
I called Angie multiple times regarding this issue. They settled for 1/2 the quoted rate which I paid.
Two months later, I started receiving bills from Affirm - Angie's billing service for the the partial amt. Called Angie again, they stated they cleared this up.
Now it's 6 months- again receiving phone calls again from Affirm for over the full amt. Originally quoted.
Just got off the phone with another CS rep from Angie - who again informed me she would take care of it & send me a confirming email. But again- Nothing.
What is wrong with this Company?
Used this service for a little over 3 months (I was lucky enough to get all my money back by proving emails, text and recorded calls where customers said they never requested work or had the work done months, even years back) out of the 3 months I had a couple hundred leads and not a single one went through to actual work. Home advisor/Angie tried blaming my sales tactics (I sale about 70k worth of jobs a year) and said that me not emailing or calling within 10 minutes is why jobs don't happen. If you are a contractor STAY AWAY from this service it will drain your money faster than you'd think.
You guys are terrible you guys hire criminals to work for you guys there is a guy who's taking the money from home owners and not paying any subcontractors money he runs and disappear with the money crooked guy working from home advisor Jeffrey Herrick
Greg of GM Tile + Stone is a true professional and a gem of a tiler. He was very creative when he replaced two existing tile murals on my patio stucco walls. The replacement murals were not the same size as the former murals. The former murals were custom sized. I wanted to keep the existing tile 'frames'; therefore Greg suggested several alternatives to add to the new murals. Fabulous results! Greg is very tidy with his clean-up at the end of the day(s). I am looking forward to future projects with Greg of GM TILE + STONE. I definitely would recommend Greg for any tile projects. You will not be disappointed.
Angi...Home Advisor recommended R & K Handyworks, LLC out of Lake City, FL - Do Not Call Them.
Richard came to my home, priced projects, had me purchase needed wood for 3 sets of stairs to be delivered; He came the first Thursday to work on steps that needed some repair, but had to leave early to take his daughter to the doctor. Scheduled a follow-up day to come back and was ill with the flu, rescheduled for the following Thursday, but had to take his daughter to the Emergency Room, Rescheduled for the following Thursday, but his legs hurt so he couldn't come out to do the stairs, (this man is an adult in his twenties), rescheduled for yet another day the next Thursday, guaranteed by Angi, that he would be here, I have the wood for the job, and he still hasn't shown up. No Call, no explanation.
Extremely Poor handyman, Not Recommended.
Home Advisor/Angie Advisor is A SCAM. I went on the website which decievingly makes it look simple and welcoming. I was looking for someone to dump my sewage tank and expecting a list of contractors/businesses to come up after not finding much on Google search.
After answering a few simple questions it became more invasive. I had to put my EXACT street address versus just a zip code. At the end it asked for my name, phone number, and email. I figured the finish would consist of someone calling me or emailing me a list of results and quotes.
Instead what I got was an error message saying to call a number to verify my identity?
I call the number with the intention of breezing through this and getting the results I wanted and instead get some weird people in a calling center. (I hung up the first time because it sounded weird, then called a second time after the website still didn't give results.)
A man with a weird voice answered in a busy noisy call center and kept asking prying questions even though he had the information right in front of him. Asking for my address, services I was looking for, making me repeat everything. He said it needed to verify my identity because I didn't type my full last name on the website. When I entered my full name in the website it still didn't work, therefore he was lying. It most likely urges everyone to go out of their way to call this scam call center after spending a lot of time and energy filling out these questions online just to get the wrap around again.
I told him I was "looking for" exactly what I input into the website and as he read it back to me I was frustrated. I told him my baby was sleeping and to please just email me the results. Instead he continued to ask details about my home 3+ times choosing to ignore the fact I said my son was sleeping, I can't talk anymore, send me the results. I hung up.
Then I get spam emails and today a missed phone call from "Angi Advisor."
I'm irritated and this is clearly a scam/beat around the bush to collect data/steal people's money/bait and switch type tactic etc.
Avoid.
PS this is illegal.
Thanks to Angi's list I was provided a handful of painting contractors to bid my job. It made my life very easy to find a reputable painter. I really didn't even have to search, home advisor does all the work. Well done!
Exteriors Unlimited can match the workmanship of any other 5 star roofer. They were able to professionally accommodate an unexpected change in scope at low cost due to rot on trim and on siding while also giving me a beautiful new roof constructed by the book and at reasonable cost and at very low interest. They'll also give you something very few roofers are willing to provide: Flexibiilty! I needed that in spades with this unexpected house project and Chad from Exteriors Unlimited came through big time. I am fully satisfied with my results and confident that anyone else would be as well.
I am to have my lawn mower serviced at 11:00 on 3/26. The service person did not show and no one called to tell me they decided to change the appointment to 1:00 pm the same day. I received the runaround and was disconnected a few times and finally, Michael from customer service stated the service person would be here at 1:00. I find this company to be unprofessional and untrustworthy. I will write another review to tell what my experience was after I received the service for the lawn mower.
Bill at All American Paving was very responsive and thoughtful when he was asked to come to our house to look at a patio expansion project. He arrived a few days later with his crew and did the work in a workmanlike fashion. It was accomplished in a single day's time. Very polite and skilled at what they did.
Life on Earth is possible because of some basic things, but one of the most important things for sustaining life on Earth is Trees. Trees are fundamental to the needs of humans as they produce oxygen, without which life won't be possible on Earth. However, one of the most concerning current factors is reducing Earth's green cover. Green cover is the area covered by trees on Earth and is important to measure how much forestation is there worldwide. This green cover is continuously reducing, posing a risk to the ecosystem of Earth.
With the increasing population, the need for resources such as houses, vehicles, timber, etc., has increased by a huge margin. This population push has given rise to deforestation, which is a process of cutting trees and using the space for industrialisation and wood for other purposes. New industries are being opened on a regular basis, and with no land in cities, they turn towards the forests as the land is cheap. They cut the trees to make factories and profits and pollute the environment and water bodies. The result is increased climate change with less rainfall and more heat, which further reduces the green cover on Earth.
As humans, we have to ensure that this green cover increases, or we will be left with less food and oxygen. It will be bad not only for humans but also for other species responsible for maintaining the Earth's ecosystem. Governments all around the world are making so many efforts to increase the green cover. We should also help in contributing to the efforts at the personal level.
We can start by saving as much electricity as possible in our households and limiting pollution by using public transport whenever we can. Also, we should avoid the use of plastic as it gets buried in the soil and makes the land infertile over time. The last and the most important thing is to save water as it is fundamental for maintaining the green cover on Earth.
We only have this one planet to live on, and the green cover is the most important factor to ensure we protect our planet. For raising awareness about pollution and ways to maintain the green cover, Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22. We should also raise awareness about the topic and prevent anything that can cause the reduction in green cover on Earth.
I didn't understand that Angi and Home Advisor are the same company (or maybe just where the review?)
Got rid of 4 stumps for us. Did a great job. Worked fast and great price. Left the yard just the way it was before they came. Highly recommend them.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
