The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

: terrible customer service, leads than does not work, They violate its owns guidelines regarding reviews, in other words if someone post a negative feedback, all he or she have to say to prove it is: Oh, found it on the Home Advisor. Please stay away from the Home Advisor!
This place is basically a giant drug dispensary. Drugs, alcohol, racism, lies, coverups, and rampant sexism and sexual harassment are the norm in this company. Managers are often times high on drugs and drooling at their desks. Women in this company are nothing more than tools and are treated as sex objects. In my time working with them, this place didn't feel like a legitimate business, but felt like a scam operation. The job is to scam millions of innocent Americans. Managers constantly encourage their sales staff to flat out lie to their customers. They encourage to use the term telesales, as if we didn't realize this is just a telemarketing company. The employees here usually talk badly about their own customers behind their backs, usually calling their customers stupid or suckers. Employees snort cocaine at their desks and trade illicit drugs in the parking lot. This company is more like straight out of The Wolf of Wall Street. I'm surprised the FBI hasn't yet raided their offices.
Im a contracter, but i actually tried using homeadviser once two. So they charge 60$ a lead and get this, they send it out to 5 different contracters at the same time and charge them all 60$ for 1 lead, and they fight it out, customers who do you think is paying those charges, its you.
HomeAdviser is the WORST company to work with. They send you leads that are not even in your areas of work and refuse to give your money back. I FIRED them. Most home owners are tire kickers and won't hire anyway. I am a General Contractor and I own Matson Construction Company, Inc. in Florida. 09/09/2019
David Matson
Worst lead generators on the market.
Competition in my industry (moving) is fierce. I respond immediately to my leads (within 1 min) and over 80% of the time, some other pro gets it first.
I'm paying $20-$30 per lead, most of which I never get a response. I've spent near $300 and got 2 jobs totaling 4hrs.
Not only are these leads overpriced, but they're also low quality. Home Advisor is clearly another group of salespeople pushing their product to maximize their profits at their service provider's, and their customer's, expense.
I'm going back to Thumbtack
Alicia pretends to be helpful and friendly. Did not listen to my needs. Did not provide receipts needed for taxes after asking multiple times. Did not do what she expressed she would do in the amount of time and for the amount of $$$.
I am pro register in home advisor. They are unclear. And charge you money for everything. Do not dare to think they will give you money back because the won't!
I used Home Adviser to find a painter for a covered patio. They found CertaPro Painters which I used for my project. The painters were very professional and did an excellent job.
Its isn't free contractors pay for the leads and most of them are bad. The people either don't answer or they got so many bids already you won't get the job. Literally most of my leads they don't even answer the phone. I call multiple times on multiple days I email and text it's a scam. See the pix the last 5 leads only one answered and I gave an estimate but was under bid
Hired a electrician from HomeAdvisor worse company ever RLG Electric owner Rodney L Grace. Abandoned job after 4 days because he was to hot and got to dirty not kidding. This guy was a creep left discussing messages on our phone after taking our money. HomeAdvisor is a advertisement company they don't check for professionals because this guy was so far from one it was pathetic.
Terrible customer service for the pros. Scam artists that give sh*t leads that don't have good contact numbers and charge no matter what. Cancelled within 3 days and say I owe them... Send me to collections. Good luck if you use them. I wouldn't use them if that was my only option. Go to Google or Facebook
Forecasted 13 leads in my zip code per month... in reality it was 3 two of which the scope of work was not related to my field. Went to close my account was told to wait a week I did then they refused to refund me the $288 fee not even prorate or anything.
Conclusion, they will say anything to you to take your money and they won't give it back.
Home Advisor for licensed contractors is the worst. They're experts at withdrawing money, the leads aren't designed for contractors, more like handymen repairs. A lead can be worth $70 to $150 and the homeowners that call, want basic repairs on a door hinge, 1 broken tile, 1 roof shingle and so on. They control the demographics to their likely, and they'll Turn ON the leads without your authorization. They prey on contractors to become there cash cows.
Your company is a big lie! Your reps tell small business' whatever they want to hear to sign them up. Great concept, but such a scam. You charge a lot more for leads than initially told over the phone. You charge for leads regardless of us doing the work. From a business stand point, your company is such a big waste of money.
Called HomeAdvisors to get someone to do new gutters for my home. North Georgia Home Renovations came out and provided a quote for the job. Let me start out by saying this company was more than professional. Before they came I had already did my research to find out the best price. Not only did they come in right on the mark the job was FANTASTIC. The gutters made my house look so GOOD, and they left my house better than they found it. EXCELLENT COMPANY if you want no drama call them *******343
After spending 800 without result, I told them to stop and the still went ahead to deduct 150 from my credit card.
I allowed a contractor Roan (Jamaican guy) to remodel my shower. He sent over 2 drug addicts he found on craigslist to complete the shower. By the time they left they stole my tools I purchased and did not cover the shower drain so there is tile and adhesive all in the drain. They did not put the molding back on the wall. If a Roan come your way from conyers run as fast as you can. He also avoid your calls once you have a complaint and will not give receipts as promised.
I am totally in love with my newly landscaped back yard. Alan came over and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. He felt like a friend coming over to help. He told me what materials he would be using and quoted me a price. Alan came by and checked on his workers. The got the job done in less time than they said they would Alan is a great man to work with and I love the results. If you need some landscaping done, call Alan's Nature's Way.
I had Reliable tree service which Home Advisor had call me and they were great workers did a great job removing huge dead tree and large limbs over carport. They cleaned up every limb. And most of all they came just before Dorian hit.
They ram crap leads down your throat and charge you for each and every lead. They will send multiple contractors the same lead. If you're not careful you'll end up with an expensive invoice from home advisor for several leads without your consent for accepting the leads or not. As long as the send it to you your billed. $#*! home advisor!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
