Booked my car via this company. Paid in full to collect a car in Pisa airport. When arrived my credit card was rejected due to the change of my address as haven't been using for a while. Myself and my kids had to use taxi to drive away. Spoiled holiday. Was hoping to get at least a partial refund of my payment of more than 300 Euros. As the result no car, no refund, not even partial refund. The company responded that it was my responsibility to make sure that the credit card meant to be valid and meeting conditions. Unfortunately this is not the case.

Thank you for your review. Your message informed us that the supplier was not able to provide you with the rental car because the credit card was not meeting the conditions. The rental conditions of the supplier always inform you what requirements the credit card must meet. The credit card must always be in the name of the lead driver and carry sufficient funds to cover the full amount of the deposit. Any debit cards, Visa Electron, prepaid credit cards or cash is not accepted. This is one of the most important conditions which the lead driver must be able to meet at time of pick-up. When the lead driver is not able to comply with these conditions the supplier is indeed not able to provide them with the rental car.

Our escalation team will reopen your case to request our booking partner to make an exception to our mutual general policy. In order to do so, we have sent you a private message, requesting further details.

I got to the car rental agency and they actually had an additional $30/day charge. Holiday cars did not mention this and this completely changes how much my total car rental would be. Holiday cars refused to give me a refund. I lost more money through this site than I would have if I would have just rented a car here directly. I've never been more upset about how much money I lost because of holiday cars.

This company sold me a rental car booking on 11/16/20 stating I paid in full (minus a small amount to be paid in person) as all fees were included, but when I went to pick up the rental car from Value Cars on 12/6/20 I was forced to pay an additional non-avoidable $35.91 RSA fee for roadside assistance which I did not agree to in order for them to release the car. Value cars said it was holiday car's fault for not disclosing this required fee. I have been emailing holiday cars, but they are pushing it back at value cars. However, I created the booking through holiday cars, so they are liable.

I rented a car with insurance and refund on this website on 29 April.

When I arrive in Lisbon on May 9 to take the car to the airport, I go to the Hertz stand and they tell me they cannot find my booking in the computer system. After 3 hours, they find the reservation and when it's time to use my bank card, the machine doesn't accept. So I end up giving up.

When I get back to Paris I contact the company to get a refund, because I didn't get the car.
The first time they reply to my email and ask for proof of the rental car and the plane ticket. I then send all the documents and they never reply to my emails.

This company is a farce, a hoax, a fraud. Never rent a car from this company because you will have problems.

I have insurance on my bank card so I got my money back but I will never rent a car from this fraudulent company again.

Beware, scammers

We booked a car online in my name and were due to pick it up on a friday. Over a week before having to pick up the car, i tried to change the booking in my partner's name as his credit card limit was sufficient to cover the deposit. Days later i got a response back saying it can't be changed. No explanation or anything. Sure enough the day i had to pick the car came, we went to collect the car and the rental company wouldnt accept my partner's card because its not in my name. Does it really matter who pays the deposit as long as its paid? The rental wanted an extra £180 for insurance which was more than the price of the rental. We couldnt cancel for a refund either, couldnt put it in my partner's name so we were stuck to either pay extra or lose what we already paid. Crooked scammers who just want to trick people with initial low prices just to get you in the end with silly things. Will never use these jokers again.

Thank you for reaching out! I am really sorry to be informed you had difficulties to collect the car rental. Whenever there is a change in the reservation, we had to rebook the whole reservation as we have to make a new contract with the new main driver and this has to be accepted by the supplier. The deposit will have to be blocked, always, in the name of the main driver. This is the main ental conditions of the supplier to be able to collect the car. We provide you with both the supplier rental conditions as well as the General conditions during various moments of the reservation. Eventually, you also have to agree to these conditions in order to be able to complete the reservation on our website.

They sell you a "no risk warranty" with a very tricky conditions. It's their own product and it has nothing to do with a car rental company. And when you come to a rental they make you to buy their own insurance because this "no risk warranty" doesn't apply for anything. So it's a useless thing that HolidayCars sells you and then tell "well, but you still bought it. It's your problem"

I wished I had read this before booking with them.

They charged me extra for an insurance that I did not agree to. I called them and they insisted I chose that extra insurance, but I didn't.

Ended up cancelling the reservation, and booking directly with the company as someone here said. Why would I use this intermediary that charged me extra for things I didn't choose?

I think if enough people that got SCAM report it to their credit card companies, they won't be able to keep operating

I completely agree Holidaycars.com are a complete RIP OFF, SCAM and SCUM.

I had booked a car with them in Morocco and when I arrived at the airport their supplier "Carwiz" wouldn't answer the phone. At the end I was forced to find another car right there and then which cost me double my booking price.

After bringing up the issue they asked me to send all the documents for my flight, my call log and the new contract for the new car I got from the new supplier. I sent them everything and all the proofs they required.

After several months they told me they would not cover rehousing fees. It's the poorest and worst service you will get anywhere. DO NOT BOOK with holidaycars.com or "Carwiz" at any price unless you want to have a MISERABLE EXPERIENCE

Covid 19 Voucher
September 26, 2021

When my holiday was cancelled last year the company offered a voucher which I accepted. I went to claim it this week but was told they will not honor the voucher because of fiancial difficulties. You have been warned. Avoid this company.

Lots of hidden conditions; it turns out they don't offer competitive rentals; no information on potential additional costs.
1. they make you think you purchase insurance, where it's only part of it, and you have to pay again for another insurance when renting the car
2. It's written unlimited km everywhere, they don't tell you anything when renting the car, but when returning the car, they explain to you that you're limited to 200km a day - it's written in the conditions, not in the first one, in a second condition mentioned a few paragraphs later.
Go to another car rental website, which is not playing on the words, apply competitive conditions, and don't tell you at the last minute that there are additional costs for about... everything!

Avoid this company

Arrived late at hire car desk after flight delays due to storm chiara to find car hire cancelled.
We did inform them about the delays via phone and email and even suplied them with prove of these.
We are STILL waiting for our refund 8 days later. Staff completely unwilling to help and rude.
We are frequent travellers and will never use this company again and will tell EVERYBODY not to use them.

Horrible company

This company is a scam! I went to Hotwire.com and somehow booked a car in Atlanta from them, they charged me for insurance (cancelation insurance) I didn't want and when I tried to cancel they said I can not cancel because it is passed the time I can, I basically paid $17 for nothing. They additives rental car company was at airport terminal, which was false statement!
Rental car company had no cars for 3 hours and I had to wait. This was absolutely horrible experience and I will never ever book with them again. There representatives didn't help at all, they were rude.

This company is a scam! I ordered a rental car from them. I arrive to the airport to pickup the car. I am then told I need a credit card however they had already charged my debit card. I do not own a credit card. Instead of doing the right thing and refunding my money they kept the money and did not put me in the rental car. They basically stole money from me. It is the equivalent of paying for a Big Mac and having McDonald's say we're going to keep the money and you don't get the sandwich. I spent two hours on the phone trying to work this out and was met with the meanest rudest customer service ever. I do not like to write such reviews but people need to know not to deal with the company.

This was the worst experience I have ever had! They did not email a confirmation to me despite charging my card. I had to repeatedly email and ask for it. I finally got it and printed my voucher, only to arrive and have an expired reservation. The car I had been charged for and reserved had already been given away and no others were around to be had. When you call the number for customer assistance, you'll be put on hold for long periods of time. This company is full of incompetent people and are in the business of stealing money. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. It is a scam.

The rental car provide Kelly/Europcar have decided to cancel my rental when i arrived at Genf airport 20 min late 20h26, already something wrong confirmed they have cancelled my renting agreement and Holidaycars.com will reimbursed as contract cancel by convenience of the provider, but it never happens, many email communication but they do not have interest they are brooker runaway price attractiveness is not worth versus risk

I decided to cancel my holiday due to COVID19. HolidayCars charged me £174 for cancelling. This amount of money bares no resemblance to the cost of processing my cancellation. They point to a clause in their booking conditions which I had never read. I got to HolidayCars via Kayak and I regard Kayak as having a duty of care to me to protect me from rip-off charges - they didn't. Kayak make millions and offer nothing to consumers

We unfortunately used them for a car rental in Arizona for spring break. We were quoted a certain rate and were charged double. We picked up our car from Advantage Car and they ended up charging us too! Can't get a hold of anybody at holidaycars. A complete scam!

I had a very bad experience with Holidaycars.com. I arrived at Cape Town International only to find out that the car I resented from another company was not available. So I sat on the computer and searched holidaycars.com for a vehicle while my partner walked through the airport. I manged to book a good car on the web and a few minutes later she returned and found a better deal with Hertz. So I immediately (within 10 mins) went back on site and cancelled the booking. We had not received any confirmation by then. After the holidays I saw that I was charged the full price for the rental even though I did not pick up the car. That is madness. How can they charge me if I did not pick up the car? I wrote to them twice and both times I got emails back saying it is my fault.

Holidaycars.com are thieves. I will NEVER use them again. I would like to warm the world and dont know how. If there is a lawyer our there wishing to represent me in a law case against them I would be happy to talk..

The actual rental charges were $110 more than agreed to: the "local" fees I had to pay on arrival were higher than the company stated, and the rental agency forced me to buy their insurance policy on worse terms than the one I had. Worse, I received no help whatsoever from the company on the matter, only delays in mailing back and forth.

I obtained insurance through Holidaycar and thought I was verifying it with Budget. Of course, I got charged a stupid amount by both companies. This place is a ripoff. Be very careful if you use this service, they don't care about the confusion of there offerings and the rental agency.

I suggest you stay clear of this website and go directly to the rental company. It may seem higher, but after all the "add-on's", it's not.
