I ordered HelloFresh for the week using an offer I received from a purchase elsewhere.
Initial box
My first box was ok, there were a few items missing that made making the recipes difficult, but overall the food was okay. (I do recommend selecting your own meals, otherwise the defaults are super cheap options that you could do for cheaper yourself).
Next (unplanned) box:
However, the order continued for another week (mainly my fault, I was so busy with work, I forgot to check it), but it was due to be delivered on a Thursday, I was going away that morning.
So I phoned Hello Fresh 3 days before the delivery date, and asked them to cancel, divert, or delay - otherwise it would be sat outside the gates, rotting for a week.
HelloFresh are not sustainable, environmentally friendly, or interested in helping those in need/charities:
After trying for 10 minutes to find an option (I don't have friends or family in the area, I live remotely), I suggested that I don't even want the money back, or an alternative delivery date. I just wanted them to keep the box, not deliver it at all, or please divert to a food bank or other place that needs it more than I do. I didn't want the money back at this point, I just didn't want to see all this food go to waste when it could go to a much better use.
However, HelloFresh said no, we can't do that; we cannot cancel, delay, divert, or give it to a charity who needs it. We will deliver it in 3 days time and unfortunately you will just have to leave it there.
I think this is disgusting when they preach that the whole point of a cut off date is to prevent wasted food. I was offering for them to keep my £28, but give the food to a worthy cause, and they couldn't do that. They do not care.
I signed up for this subscription thinking it's gonna help me plan my meals at night the first order I receive they don't even give me all my meats. The customer service reps are great in helping but they don't really solve your issue which is getting me the correct amount in my order. I chose to cancel this subscription indefinitely.
When I first got Hello Fresh I was really impressed but over the last 8 weeks I have had missing items and changes.
Today was the final straw. 4 out of my 5 meals has been changed.
Asparagus and Broccoli has been replace in 4 meals with Green Bean!
Id rather have a tin of processed peas.
I dont know what has gone wrong but it is now not worth the money.
Just cancelling mine after I leave this review.
Dont bother honestly they seem to be paying more celebrities on Instagram to say how wonderful they are then sorting out their problems with the people who actually pay for their service.
Site navigation is TERRIBLE, and the lack of flexibility in the program is frustrating. There is a very small window of time to select meals before the box is shipped, resulting in receiving food I will not eat more often than not. I have seen similar complaints for years, but this company does not tailor their product to user demand.
I had an absolutely dreadful experience with HelloFresh. I was initially curious about their service and decided to fill out the form with my credit card information but never completed the purchase. I quickly changed my mind and canceled the account and the delivery within minutes of signing up. HelloFresh still went ahead and charged my account, and they delivered a box to me five days later. At that point, I thought maybe I hadn't canceled it correctly, so I accepted the delivery. However, when I opened the box, there was nothing but bags of expired vegetables and spices. There was absolutely no meat included, and the quality of the ingredients was abysmal. They didn't even provide all the ingredients necessary to make the meals they had promised. I immediately called their customer service for a refund. The representative I spoke to was not only unhelpful but shockingly rude. I explained the situation, detailing how I had canceled within minutes of signing up, but he stubbornly insisted that I had to cancel within five days, of which I did. He even had the audacity to argue that the first day didn't count, which is absurd. When I requested to speak to a manager, he outright refused to transfer my call. To my disbelief, during our conversation, a frustrated expletive slipped from my mouth due to the sheer frustration of the situation. Instead of addressing the problem at hand, the representative used this as an opportunity to issue me a warning for using profanity. His tone of voice was hostile, unprofessional, and condescending throughout the call. The person representing HelloFresh on the phone lacked basic professionalism and courtesy. I would strongly advise against wasting your time and money on HelloFresh. They will gladly take your money, provide you with inedible, spoiled produce, and fail to deliver on their promises. The customer service experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and I am utterly disgusted by my overall encounter with this company.
Signed up and got one box with HelloFresh. Wasnt worth it so i cancelled. They sent me two more boxes with no email notification and they rotted in my apartment lobby and they charged me 200 bucks for them. I called them and offered me only 50 dollar refund. SCAM company
I ordered 3 meals. One frozen, one had a molded onion and mushy potatoes. I mean how fresh is that? It takes an onion quite some time to mold and potatoes a long time to become mushy unless they froze them first. One meal, the hamburger was missing, did not receive it.
Absolutely atrocious customer service and understanding.
Started the subscription like everyone does with the promotional price. Was excited for the first box to turn up but it never did. Yodel (notoriously bad courier) delivered it to someone else's house and took a picture of a completely different door. Eventually got a refund for that order as it was missing and was told to promotional price would be honoured on our next box.
After this we were going away for 2.5 weeks overseas so we paused the box for 2 weeks (their longest pause period) and we were going to log on while away and postpone for a third week. Only, when we logged in abroad we were unable to access the website so I could not postpone nor could I cancel. So upon landing back in the UK, I had seen a FULL priced box had been taken from my account (not the originally agreed promotional price). I contacted customer service this morning only to be met with a sarcastic agent called Tina who basically told me it was my fault as this is a "self-managing" service and it was my fault that I could only postpone for their super short 2 week window and that I couldn't access the website abroad. Completely immoveable on anything refund/pause/changed delivery date related. Their system is built to trip you up by only allowing you to pause it for 2 weeks, and by also not allowing to you access the website from elsewhere in the world. Honestly appelled at the way Tina spoke to me, the things she inferred, and how sarcastic she was. I will now be cancelling my account and never using this service again, contacting trading standards, and ensuring that I make as much noise as I can to as many people as I can to avoid using to this company. Save the headache and order from Gusto.
Meat have short use by and lots of fat veg is close to best before.
Tried to cancel but something went wrong called day after I realised they wouldn't cancel, wouldn't stop delivery wouldn't refund was like speaking to scripted robots. Asked to speak to a manager not able to transfer call. Couldn't tell me when I will get a call back just "asap" lol no sla's speaks volumes about this company.
I don't typically go online to post a negative review of anyone but this experience really sucks. I heard about Hello fresh so my wife and I wanted to view the menu. I went on to the busy looking website site and attempted to navigate to see a menu of offerings I was led through a series of questions to determine my preferences. I get it as I'm not internet or automation illiterate. I just want to see a menu. I am continually led though the questions that lead to payment info. My inner alarm goes off so I read and re-read carefully, it says "don't worry we won't charge you yet we just need to complete your profile." So I acquiesce I admit, against my better judgment. Next page I am given their selection based on my answers. I want to see other options and I am locked into hypothetical scenarios I had given in their initial questionnaire. I couldn't back out of what was now an order and an agreement for a subscription. Devious marketing that I loath. After already spending way too much time on their site approximately 30 minutes, I find the cancel my subscription button and I get the cancelled after your first order that's already being processed for a delivery in 2 days.
Bull**it.
I call customer service. After the 2nd call drop and waiting in the cue, I call a 3rd time and get a nice customer service rep and explain my situation and experience and I assume she is reading a rebuttal script and tells me that when I signed up I agreed and acknowledged to a subscription service and that the delivery is already scheduled and that my $45 cannot be refunded and that I will no longer be charged after this delivery.
Beware. By the looks of these reviews on food quality I'm curious how long this company will be in business.
Hello Fresh is a fraud! I ordered my first order. After receiving the first order, I called and canceled the subscription and received the confirming email. I did not select or order any additional meals. The still shipped and billed me for more meals at the higher price. I called to complain and they said there was nothing I could do. I am still trying to determine how to cancel the subscription for real. Buyer beware!
I wasn't sure I wanted to try it, so I created an account. Because of dietary restrictions, they had very few options that I can eat, so I decided I didn't want to order from them. But I couldn't cancel. They do not let you cancel until you have received at least 1 box. Meaning I am out $100+ because the only meals I can have are the "premium" meals. The fact that many of their supposed 40 meal choices actually have additional fees is another problem entirely. DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU'RE NOT ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU WANT THE SUBSCRIPTION. I feel like the signup, if not the whole thing, is a scam.
All the meats arrived warm. All ice had melted. Filed a complaint. They only give credit use against high price cost and not the discounted cost that it was originally. For example, I paid about $59 for three meals due to a discount, and this $59 is credited to non discounted meal of about $80. Don't order these meals in Florida.
I was a hello fresh customer for several years before getting bored with the same food so took a break. Roll forward to 2023, I received a marketing offer to re subscribe…which i did.
I received the first box (all good) however, we will be away for the next 3/4 weeks. So, when choosing the options for the first box I paused the subscription (or so I thought).
Today I received a notification to say that hello fresh had tried to take a payment from old bank account, it didn't go though as I wasn't expecting to make any payments from

I immediately contacted them and explained I had paused the deliveries….I was advised I hadn't. I must have failed to click a final button. The customer service representative then went away to see if he could stop the box of food (bear in mind the delivery is 5 days away) he came back to say I had used the one 'stop' late box credit 5 years ago. Consequently, he required payment for the box of food, which he could stop if he chose to, but wouldn't….so, because of some stupid policy I will now either a) have to get someone to try and return this box of food or b) it will be left on the doorstep to rot for a month with hello fresh chasing payment for £30.
I'm actually appalled that although they could stop the delivery and retain a log time customer, they would prefer to take this route.

Cancelled my order for my second box during the first week of meals as in all honestly, the portions were small, the meat was horrible with a smell of meat what has gone off and don't get me started about the condition of the vegetables as they were unusable! Seen kabab with better meat and veg compared to HelloFresh and they treat their customers better haha!
Spoke to one person who told me my account was cancelled and wouldn't receive my next box but they proceeded to still send me a box, phoned again to tell them I had cancelled and that I didn't want the box and said I wasn't paying for it as I don't like the terrible quality and all I got was someone who can barely speak a word of English try to make some god awful excuse as to why my account wasn't cancelled and why I'm still receiving meals! Then get told that if I don't pay I will be contacted by debt collectors for the money, so was being threatened to pay for something I didn't want because of the terrible quality!
I can now see why so many people have left HelloFresh as it's seems to be a common experience with food quality and poor customer care…
Would definitely recommend to look elsewhere if you're wanting a box meal prep because nothing is fresh about hello fresh!
I completed a transaction with confused.com and was offered a choice of 3 rewards for my custom. One the rewards was a free box from hello fresh, which I ordered and £ 34.00 was taken from my account without my permission. When I contacted them they told me I was too late to cancel and just brushed me off. They refused to refund me.
Unfortunately, I have to press one star to give a rating, but this is two stars too much. I will NEVER give them my custom again and I urge others to follow. Customer service was absolutely disgracerul
I have been a customer for approximately a year, referred 2 friends and had 3 family meals delivered weekly. We are a vegetarian family of four and have ordered vegetarian meals the entire time. I forgot to select my meal plan this last week and to my surprise opened my box & the 3 meals were meat and 1 package was leaking blood- yes, gross! I called to see what they could do because we will not eat any of the meals. They said sorry, my fault because I did not select my meal and gave me a $12 credit for the bloody beef. Felt like customer service did not care & I cancelled my service and gave Home Chef the opportunity. Very disappointed!
Used Hello Fresh since lockdown and no complaints up until Tues 5th Sept 2023. We were expecting our food delivery and had a tracking message from Yodel to say delivery between 10.57 and 12.57. Didn't turn up and tracking was not updated despite checking constantly until after 8pm. Went on chat to Hello Fresh, just told to wait. Went on chat to Yodel, just told to check tracking number (I DID!). Food eventually tuned up at 20.30 pm. Stand in driver advised that the box had been sat in the baking sun all day as the van had broken down. No one from Hello Fresh bothered to update me either via phone or email. Have been trying since then to get a refund/compensation even some sort of blooming acknowledgement via online chat/phone and emails. Nothing. No one bothering to contact me. Each time I manage to get through to follow up I am just told someone will be in contact. Nearly a week later and still chasing. Absolutely disgusting. Will not be using them again nor could I recommend anyone else to do so. All is fine until something goes wrong (and it does, just read the reviews!) and then you are just ignored...
First of all they sent the wrong order, the complete order was wrong. I asked what happened and they stated my customized order was to late. The entire order was missing all the recipes in the bag. They will NOT send you the recipes even if you ask for them. And spices were missing from one bag!
Don't waste your time with this company! No customer service skills at all. Please save yourself a hugh headache!
Answer: I signed up and realised its a scam - your first order is only able to be placed 2 weeks away, meaning they get your money even if you use a coupon... and from other reviews they won't let you cancel. I just registered a voucher, saw the dates and tried to cancel... and can't - there is no "cancel" on their website
Answer: You will still have to pay for delivery and such because this company says those things cannot be covered by a gift card. Beware signing up, because they will subscribe you as soon as you enter credit card information. It is in their Terms and Conditions at the beginning of the process.
Answer: You're automatically on auto ship…any week you don't overtly cancel will get sent out and you'll get charged.
Answer: Nor really. They will want to give you a partial refund of the single ingredient you found to be of poor quality... and that's if you want to take the time to navigate the website to find out how to do it. Their website is totally designed to make customer service difficult.
