I am trying to update my application on the HealthCare.gov website. However, there are certain questions that I don't have the answer for, because I don't know what is going to happen in 2017. I am not a mind reader. So, I decided to call them to explain my situation. The recording said I had a wait time of 30 minutes. Okay, so I put the speaker phone on so I could do other things while waiting. An hour and a half later, I am still waiting for the next representative. Of course, I am so far into it now that I don't want to hang up, but, it is also getting late so I don't know how much longer I can hold on. This is absolutely ridiculous! This is why I always wait until the last minute to renew my application, because I know there are going to be questions on the website that I cannot answer and am going to have to call them, and it's going to be at least a 2-hour process (or longer). This is ridiculous to have to go through this every year. I do hope our new president elect can come up with another plan so we won't have to do this every year.
The agents you get to talk to after an inhuman amount of wait time know absolutely nothing! They simply read off a horribly long script. I asked one person if my coverage gets auto renewed next year. She puts me on hold for ages then comes back and reads a script which went on for ages, so I had to stop her and say, hey, chill I don't understand a word you are saying and its all just legal BS. STOP! So she stopped and I asked her my question again and then she read what it said on my account which is general and doesn't explicitly say if my coverage renews or not info that I can already see. So I had to keep saying "yes I can read too, but I need to know if it renews" and then she finally just gave up and said no it doesn't. So why in all that is holy didn't she simply just F%$ing say that 45 mins ago? I mean I know exactly why but it is an unpopular opinion with woke/gen Y and Z people so there is no point explaining the truth, we'll just say that this Marketplace it is an extremely incompetent and unhuman process that has no competition so why do they need to make it better? Same with all Govt services, the lack of competition makes them absolutely useless and unbearably frustrating. As much as I am begging for national healthcare, This certainly is where capitalism shines. Imagine if the govt gave us national healthcare and then ran the show like this... I'd be begging for private insurance again lol
This organization is unbelievable. It can't get any worse. I received a letter from my dental insurance provider in October of 2017 telling me my insurance would automatically continue into 2018 without having to do anything except pay my premium. In December I went on to the Marketplace website to change my medical insurance. After securing a medical plan, the website asked if I needed any additional dental or vision insurance. I DID NOT because my dental plan was already in place for 2018. I checked "NO". Well apparently by answering "NO" it gives them the right to go and cancel the dental insurance you have in place... with no knowledge that they were going to do so. Nor did I give them any permission to cancel my insurance. I didn't know my dental insurance had been canceled until I received a refund check from my dental insurance provider in January. When I called the Marketplace to get this fixed, they would do nothing. I just kept getting the scripted answer of "You are out of the enrollment window. Unless you have a life changing event you cannot make any changes until the next open enrollment in the fall". But wait, YOU cancelled my insurance. I talked to 3 people (2 supervisors) and kept getting the same answer. Finally the last supervisor told me I was as far up the chain as I could go. Her bosses were not accessible to the public. I would just have go without dental insurance for the year because of their screw up. What a organization... you can screw up everyone's insurance and then not have to correct any of your mistakes.
My son called HealthCare Marketplace back today because when he applied on 11/8 for December 2019 coverage with a girl named Tia, he told her he wanted the $600 deductible plan that covered prescription drugs BEFORE the deductible was met. I found out while trying to fill a prescription today for him that she put him down for the plan where you had to pay the deductible first resulting in his prescription costing $415, which he can not afford! When he called there today, a "supervisor", a woman who sounded Mexican or something, told him he could appeal but it would take 30 days blah blah blah. When he went off on her asking her how he was going to get the drugs he needs now and about how he picked the right plan and THEY were the ones who put down the wrong one, ms. Professional supervisor hung up on him. That was her answer to his problem which THEY caused! These people need to be cleaned out and replaced with actual professionals! No wonder why they have NEVER gotten one good review! Typical clueless government workers and the so-called supervisors are totally unprofessional and suck!
The healthcare marketplace is a JOKE. They enrolled me in a healthcare plan that I DID NOT CHOOSE and now they will not fix their mistake. Also, I am six months pregnant dealing with this nonsense. I will never go through this website ever again and I hope that they go down for the fraud they have caused me and so many other customers.
I logged in to report a life change since my husband was becoming eligible for Medicare the following month. When you report a life change, it will kick you into your application. I inadvertently canceled my husband's insurance because I wanted to plan ahead. I only realized this the next day when I called the Marketplace about some documents they wanted and I was informed that my husband's insurance was cancelled even though we had paid the monthly premium in full. There was no way to just "notify of a life change" -- you have to go through the entire application and once you reapply without a household member you are out of luck until the next open enrollment. BEWARE: NEVER TELL THEM IN ADVANCE OF ANY LIFE CHANGE.
I've never applied but got charged 700.00 last tax season called them to tell them I never wanted it & I'm still getting mail from them asking for income proof that I dont send cuz I don't want it & thats what they did last year it says you will get disqualified if you don't reply but dont be fooled they still enroll you then hit you with a fine for insurance you didn't know you had nor used STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE
DO NOT WORK WITH MARKETPLACE! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE I KNOW TO USE MARKETPLACE. NO ONE IS EVER HELPFUL. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE THAT CANNOT DO THE BASIC ESSENTIALS THEIR JOB. I NEEDED HEALTH INSURANCE FOR 1 MONTH BETWEEN JOBS... 1 MONTH... SHAME ON ME FOR THINKING A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM WOULD HAVE ANYTHING LESS THAN HALF WITS. I PLACED A CALL A MONTH INTO THE PROGRAM REMINDING THEM THAT IT NEEDED TO BE CANCELED AT MONTH END BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE IT THROUGH MY JOB. I CONFIRMED 7 DAYS AFTER MONTH THAT IT WAS CANCELLED AND THEY STATED IT HAD NOT BEEN, THAT IS WAS NEVER CANCELLED. So 15 DAYS FROM THERE IS WHERE MY COVERAGE WOULD STOP! NEEDLESS TO SAY I NOW HAVE A 580 BILL FOR INSURANCE I NEVER WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE! THEY OPEN AN ESCALATION ON THE BACK DATING AND I GET AN ANSWER OF "NO" IT CAN'T BE COMPLETED. THY WOULD NOT PROVIDE REASONING, JUST THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP. THANKS MARKETPLACE. I HOPE THEY GET SHUT DOWN.
I have called several times trying to enroll in healthcare and each time I have spent about 40 minutes on the phone before hanging up in frustration, I finally tried enrolling on the website but did not get to finish my application. After enrolling I did not complete my application. Today I tried signing back on to the website and I could not answer the recovery question correctly in order to retrieve my password. I called the customer service line hoping to get fast help since I already have an application file. Clearly I was mistaken, I spent over an hour on the phone for the lady to tell me that she does not see my application on file. But how is that possible if the website was able to send the link to my email in order to reset the password! After switching lines between her supervisor and I she continued feeding me the same story and giving me the excuse that her computer is acting really slow. This is by far the worst customer service that I have experienced in a very long time. The phone call ended with her hanging up on me. I am disappointed that eBay had better customer service than the healthcare.gov website, this website is a representation of the government, more work is definitely needed. I also could not find a number for customer complaints or an email.
Plans are good but customer care reps are rude. Spoke to a guy called Alex, he disconnected the call since he did not know the answer to my question. Similar experience with 2 other reps.
I found some of the information I needed but my state doesn't have their act together. I don't think their health care exchange is working properly yet.
The first nightmare: I sent in my documents proving my change of life situation in May, sent certified mail. They uploaded them to the wrong application and said I would have to re-submit which means another trip to a copier and to the post office and $7.34 postage, then, to add insult to injury, they said I missed that month's enrollment date which means nightmare #2: The IRS is going to be on my as* when trying to filing for 2018 taxes, plus a fine! THANKS UNCLE OBAMA!
After 8 months with affordable, decent health coverage through the program, I tried to re-enroll. The website directed me to apply for my state's Medicaid program, which I did. I was accepted, and so figured that, as explained in the Healthcare.gov notices I'd received, I would no longer have insurance through them after Dec. 31. No problem, since I now had Medicaid. However, they sent me re-enrollment emails anyway, and I went through the process to see what was going on. Would they still want to offer me the same coverage with subsidies that made my bill only $148 per month? Well, I found out that there would be no subsidies for me going forward, so I would be paying over $900 per month for insurance I didn't even need. I let it go. Then, yesterday, I got a notice that $185 was taken from my account to pay for another insurance premium. I called my insurance company and they said that I was automatically re-enrolled, based upon info from the Marketplace. I called the customer service line at healthcare.gov, and they said that the onus had been on ME to let them know that I wasn't continuing. This AFTER they had told me in no uncertain terms that re-enrollment and coverage ended Dec. 31. Moral of the story: Make sure to alert them if you do not intend to re-enroll after the end of the year. They are not accountable in any way, and will bleed you dry without reason. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is that the coverage was, for that one year, both affordable and useful.
My wife had healthcare through healthcare.gov and I lost my insurance through my job. So, obviously I applied for insurance through healthcare.gov through special enrollment. I selected only myself in this application since my wife already had insurance. Low and behold... my wife is sent a letter saying that they received her request to terminate insurance. Never in the application did it state that my application would terminate my wife's insurance. Nor does it make sense to add my wife to my application when she already has insurance! We contacted the marketplace several times over the course of two weeks and many of the people seemed to be at a loss of what we should do, other than have me redo my application and add my wife since she cannot apply since she does not qualify for special enrollment. Sound complicated? It is, and quite honestly I sympathize with many of the workers who have to deal with this system. Our solution was to redo my application, add my wife, and of course our available healthcare options were not the previous plans that we had. This means that we are paying a higher premium for health insurance that we do not use (except peace of mind) and my wife is still without insurance until next month.
Someone from the federal marketplace healthcare.gov signed me up for a Bright Health insurance plan but then took my card information over the phone and secretly enrolled me in "I Life & Health". After that call I noticed I was being charged a monthly $43 fee which said "I Life & Health" in the online banking description. I called Bright Health and talked to a representative who said this charge was not from them. I called the marketplace and they confirmed the same thing. The marketplace also said they never take bank information over the phone. So this marketplace representative fraudulently took my information and set me up for reoccurring billing with the fake company I Life & Health under the pretense that it was for Bright Health. BEWARE: TALK TO INSURANCE COMPANIES DIRECTLY BEFORE YOU PAY AND DON'T GIVE CARD INFO OVER THE PHONE.
They are wonderful when you call them so willing to help.
Thanks so much Ashley!
I had a problem with my filing and Ashley took as much time as needed to get it done.
They keep calling me every 2 days and I kindly ask them to stop calling me but they keep doing and hanging up on me. Every time is a new phone number I'm tired of this $#*!. Worst experience ever!
No other option for me as I always pay my daughter and my health insurance out of pocket and NEVER Use - paid over $70,000 in past 6 years- paying for individual and family rate but because I don't claim my daughter on odd years they won't give me insurance card for my daughter that I've paid for all year monthly on time - my daughter lives with me I raise her on my own but her absent father claims odd years and hence I'm paying for two policies and they won't show my daughter active - the upper highest staff possible hung up on me when calling to discuss and said unless my daughter pref in jail or has life change they won't fix yet I just paid June again to keep compliant- so so so corrupt what are my options I wanted to get my daughter in fir wellness this time and use what I paid into
Early August I had enrolled for Medical Insurance, they gave me an affordable quote and was enrolled by a representative. They said the next day that I would have to verify income and send it, and start the "Processing". Which was a week before August 19th, (The day they processed the enrollment). Since then, I'm waiting for an insurance card verification from the insurance company about coverage, etc... I've contacted the insurance company and they have NO KNOWLEDGE OF A POLICY! I've contacted customer service multiple times and fed up with their excuses, no knowledge of whats going on or anything, no policy information or answers for coverage what so ever! I'm about to go off! Close to a month and NO COVERAGE? And you have my personal information? NOT COOL!
These are some of the worst kinds of people on the planet. Scammers who prey on the weak and uninformed through false scare tactics. Don't fall for these bastards, they will only take your money! Luckily I've seen them all and can spot them coming a mile away. Since they found a way to access certain information they were able to mail me their official SCAM letter. First red flag, I was actually approved by Medicaid 100%, and their letter said I wasn't. Second red flag, they claim to "lower" my premium. I have NO Premium. Sorry, not getting any of my money.
Do yourself a favor and don't give these jerks the time of day. Do not respond to them, response only opens the doors and may subject you to their contracts. Based on other reviews it sounds like once they have you hooked, it's tough to get out. Report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and write posts like this so others don't fall victim. Of course they're going to be nice if you give them money, just don't expect them to be there when you really need it. Watch for fake posts as well. This group is a complete SCAM. BEWARE!
Answer: Same happened to me. So agent at marketplace switched me from PPO to HMO without telling me and completely mislead me last December promising me that this new plan was the one I needed. As it happens, it is the worst plan from Florida Blue. These so called "agents" at the marketplace have no idea what is going on, many can care less, they know that we, the consumers, are powerless to do anything. They apparently are not allowed to give their employee ID number and names do not suffice to place a formal complaint against any of them. Health Marketplace went from being a dream come true to the worst nightmare. I hope you finally solved your issue
Answer: Oh YES. And I have tried to dispute the claims my insurance is rejecting. The MP agent whom I got in December in order to renew my plan completely mislead me and the plan I have on is the worst plan Florida Blue is offering. According to Florida blue agents, they have no control over what the Marketplace decides and claim that the Marketplace refuses to communicate with them. I suspect that Florida Blue is also taking advantage of the situation. I pay twice as much as before and my copays are 3 times what they used to be. And my network is quite restraint now. Many of the specialists I used to see are no longer in my network. I am kind of relieved to see how many people are unhappy with HMO. I started to wonder if it was me who in fact was wrong and who misunderstood or…
Answer: BECAUSE THEY ARE UNEDUCATED IGNORANT PEOPLE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HIRED. TRUMP NEEDS TO FIRE ALL THEM AND SHUT THIS DOWN. THEY HAVE YET AGAIN SCREWED UP MY PLAN AND MY DAUGHTERS 15 CALLS LATER AND I RENEWED IN NOVEMBER... THEY DELETED ME AND PUT MY DAUGHTER... JERKS THEN GAVE HER A MESSED UP PLAN
