Terrible Service
February 1, 2023

I placed an order for a sympathy basket. When I placed the order I realized that they were shipping in 2 days. My error for not catching. I called Harry and David 20 minutes after I placed the order on line to explain that no one would be at the shipping address and asked for the shipping to be delayed until 1/30/23. I was advised that they changed the shipping date. There was wine on this order, so the order needed a signature upon delivery. Well, Harry and David never changed the shipping date and Fedex tried to deliver it 3 times. I had numerous phone call and emails to Harry and David and each time they assured me the delivery would be 1/30/23. I finally contacted Fedex (another ordeal as you can't speak to someone), and was able to change the delivery date to 1/30/23 even though by this time the shipment was going to be sent back to Harry and David. Upon delivery, the recipient advised me that 2 of the pears were spoiled and the rest were very soft. More pears are going to be shipped to replace these. I will never order from Harry and David again. Their customer service team has a regimented script, lie, and they do not know what they are doing. I will be writing a formal letter to Harry and David with all the details.

Too many issues - will not use again.

I ordered a few wine gift baskets, chocolates and some cookies for a client the end of 2021. The order was placed after Christmas and before the New Year and did not mind if it arrived a week or so into the New Year. I receive a phone call about the time it was expected to be delivered (week into January) asking me to verify the recipient's DOB (which was fine,) but then they told me basically everything I ordered was now out-of-stock. I sat on the phone for about 20-30 min trying to figure out what was even available. I did not get what I wanted, did not get a discount, did not get an upgrade on faster delivery as shipping was then delayed by another two weeks and some of my order like cookies was just delivered this week and it's the 22nd of January. This was my first experience with H&D and likely my last. Too unpredictable and stock is not updated on the website and random separate shipping / delivery times and dates is just too confusing. I think I just spend a lot of money to get leftover random stock.

Subscription scam
January 14, 2023

H&D also sell a "Passport" service that for a one time fee, allows shipment of their products for "free" for one year. It allegedly includes free shipment of flowers. One year after using this service, with no prior warning, they auto charge your account again for another year's subscription. The invoice states it is from H&D, and has an invoice #. It also has a phone number to call, which is answered as H&D. The agents then inform you that you have to call a different # to address the charge, that it was made from another "department" and they cannot remove it. This sounds like a bait & switch scam set up to me. Very annoying that I have to waste my time to have an unauthorized charge removed from my account. The invoice from H&D must not be legitimate if they can not then retract it. I am done with this company. I will absolutely not use them again. I cannot get the invoice to copy over without my personal information, but I can share the transaction #: PayPal.

Original order item on November 16,2022 was in stock. After not hearing any notice of delivery progress, checked December 13,2022 and was told by "customer service" it would be delivered by December 16,2022 as I originally requested. Yesterday, December 16,2022, I contact them again via email. It finally turns out the the item originally ordered on November 16 - which was in stock on their web site then - was actually no longer in stock! I never got a notice from these liars and crooks that the item I ordered wasn't in stock. Had to scramble to find an alternative so the people I ordered it for as a Christmas gift can arrive by then. They "promised" me it will be delivered by the end of the day December 23. Even odds betting tells me it won't be delivered by then. I have been a long time customer of Harry & David, but after this mess, where "customer service" lied to me about the original delivery date, nobody notifying me that the item I ordered was out of stock, etc., once this delivery actually happens - hopefully before Easter - I will be closing my account with Harry & David and taking my business elsewhere. This used to be a very good company. Now...a bunch of liars and crooks! Do NOT do business with them! My orders were W*******2494 and #: W*******1030

The first cake I ordered arrived on schedule and not damaged. The second cake arrived three days after it said it had been delivered and it was smashed on one side and icing missing off top. The third cake I ordered just like the first, it arrived with ice on cake and frozen like a rock. I can't tell if it's the pineapple upside down cake or a carrot cake. THE BIGGEST ISSUE WAS IT WAS DELIVERED UPSIDE DOWN/LAYING ON THE SIDE. Since it was frozen you'd think it would be fine, nope. It is smashed on the side. Thank you FedEx or H&D.

I wanted to place an order for $29.99. Shipping was $18.98 (!) so 40% of the order for the cost for shipping. I phoned and the agent confirmed.

I am a 30 yr. Customer. Sorry H& D, you lost me here.

Terrible Experience
December 8, 2020

I have had very frustrating experiences trying to order from H&D this year. I literally spent hours trying to enter an order. First, after entering all the information, it didn't let me advance to payment. I had to do it several times. Second, I couldn't get the delivery times I wanted until I paid for the annual shipping fee. Before signing up for the annual fee, the shipping dates were coming though for January. And these were Christmas gifts In checking out, I entered the promo code, but the discount was never applied. I tried the chat line with no success and called but the wait time was long so I left my phone number for call back. Never received one. I don't know what else to do. I have shopped with H&D for years and I'm not sure they need my business any more or their just too busy. What can I do?
In addition, I requested a delivery date of 12-17 and on 12-7, I received a message a day that the orders had been shipped. Surely it doesn't take 10 days for delivery. This is just another in a long series of blunders with H&D this year. It will probably be my last year after many years as a customer. H&D is not the same. C. J. Hellier

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I ordered, and paid, for a rush delivery - not cheap - for a specific day for funeral - they never delivered the order and I was never notified they could not meet the deadline date for the order. I asked if it could be delivered the next day, which was acceptable, and they could not do that either. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE

I ordered some Carmel popcorn and was sent a box of pears instead. No biggie, I hate to complain about free stuff but I did want to make sure I'd still get my popcorn. I called immediately and the first agent I spoke to was completely muffled and ignored me when I asked her to speak up. So I called back, the second guy had a very thick accent but understood my issue and said my original order was still on the way and would be there in a few days. I was skeptical of that because it said my popcorn was delivered the same morning the pears showed up on my backdoor. So four days later with no delivery I called back. I tried calling three different times each time hanging up because the call center was just so bad. Either I couldn't understand them or they couldn't understand me. I tried to get assurance through the virtual help via text messages. It was also really bad, the person Clara just was super dense, had to explain the issue multiple times, she even told me that I did in fact get the popcorn because their system said so. After a frustrating 20 minutes or so the person finally just was like "we're sending you a replacement it'll be here on Dec 5th". I originally ordered the popcorn on November 11th so pretty frustrating.

Sad Goodbye

My Grandparents knew them as Bear Creek Orchards. My parents and Aunts and Uncles exchanged gifts from them back in the 1950s. I continued the tradition since the 1980s. Now I've said goodbye.
I panicked last year when I ordered a luxury gift basket for a colleague and was unable to obtain an order confirmation online. Next i was unable to log back in to my account. My credit card had been charged in excess of $200 for my order. I tried calling customer service and received a recording that the wait time was over 3 hours. Being very busy, I could not wait. I called back everyday for a week. Finally I got through, with my cell phone plugged into the charger for the nearly 2 hour wait on hold. When I finally talked to a customer service rep, he seemed dazed and overwhelmed. For years they had greeted me by name when I called. Now they no longer store my order history and haven't a clue. He finally located my order, and verified the recipient and gift information. He seemed unaware that every single time I attempt to log in I have to ask for a password reset and then register like a first time customer.
Such a shame. I am moving on. Sad goodbye.

HORRIBLE Experiance

Told me I would be refunded for something that was never delivered, followed up, they never processed the refund. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. Basket was supposed to be delivered for my moms bday party for a dessert table but it never came for the date I scheduled for. HORRIBLE

I have always loved giving Harry & David foods & have done so for years & years. But doubtful I'll return. Purchased by phone (Black Friday deals) and was given a verbal breakdown of EACH COST (no computer in front of me - had to trust them). Was told shipping was $15.01 and also told I would NOT be charged the mid-December shipping surcharge because I agreed they could ship my order early. This morning, when I got to my computer I saw that my total had included an extra $3.98 for "Additional Item Charges." It's that surcharge. A bad surprise that wipes out a lot of my BF savings. This morning's Chat simply apologized but didn't remove the surcharge. Tried to first tell me it was just the shipping charge (wasn't - it was shipping plus surcharge - I HAVE the breakdown here in print). When they realized I wasn't buying that tale - they then said it was because of the day I ordered. Wha?
I kept the order because the food is nice but I will shop EVERYWHERE else before heading back to H&D ever again. You've lost a long-term, loyal customer over $3.98 - that you KNOW doesn't belong on my bill. Oh yes, and, my goods are still shipping early. No value for that surcharge here... geez, Merry Christmas...

Shocked and appalled

To whom it may concern,

I received a small tower from Harry and David today. I did not want this tower as I received a larger one last year that was honestly horrible.

I called into your customer service line and spoke to Connie. Her best advice to me was to regift it. I asked about the hundred percent guarantee and I just got the same jargon back about not being able to return it for a gift certificate to be used at a later date, just to regift it to somebody else.

I then asked to speak to a supervisor. When Lona came on the phone she had a bad attitude right off the bat. She then went on to advise me to throw it in the trash. I was honestly shocked by this. It would seem all of the "Guarantees" that you have on your website are nothing but lies. Harry and David seems to be a company full of lies and deception.

I actually took this package and donated it at our local grocery store donation barrel. It seems I came up with a better solution then your company's representatives had.

I will make sure all my family, friends and colleagues never ever buy a single thing From Harry and David again.

I am quite frankly appalled by your company and I will make sure everyone knows it.

For anyone who is planning to order anything with Harry and David for anytime in the future, please, think twice and three times before you do it. We placed an order with them more than 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and the order was supposed to arrive on Nov. 23rd, 2 days before Thanksgiving. However, on Wed 11/24 at 5:30pm, which is one day before the holiday, this company sent an EMAIL to us said that our order will not be able to arrive until November 30th, which is next week. I mean, are you serious? This is how you run your business? It's one of the biggest holidays of the year and we count on you to bring us the food and joy, and we paid a pretty big money for it as well. That's how you treat your customers? Told us in the very last minute and left us absolutely no room to make it up ourselves? This incident completely ruin our family's thanksgiving and everybody's mood, they can't do anything to compensate that. Plus, up until this point, they have no intention to compensate customers like us in what so ever!
