They don't deserve even a star. It seems impossible to close an account. I have a turbo card with this bank, the phone number is a waste of time, online or in the app is ridiculous how you get rederected to other site when clicking "the close account option." Of course we get a monthly fee charged every month in the account. When I call the other phone number of this bank the person who picks on the phone makes noises or just hang on when you try to explain. Total scam. Everybody who is in trouble because of this bank should file a complain at the federal trade comission, ftc.gov.
I have been trying to get money from my deceased daughter account. Given them all the paperwork and they won't close the account. Every time I call they say they are missing something. Jadda just told me all they need is my state id. They are charging her account $5 a month and will not close the account. This place is a joke.
This is the WORST institution ever, those people closed my account without notice or warning, my direct deposit was rejected and I'm sitting here now, sucking on a rag... I had filed a dispute, they asked me to dens a letter, REALLY, a letter in 2019? The people on the phone can not be understood at all, the call center is no where near the US. Worst company ever, My husband is a truck j driver and his account was charged 4 times for a donation. When he asked them to put the money back on because it was a discrepancy. They blocked his card NOW he has no money and cant use his card, unable to come home because of Covid19. Now we have no idea where his pay check is going, we cant get anyone on the phone. Horrible Service SCAMMERS!
Trying to activate a debit card ( gift card) and online is impossible... they say "we are having technical problems try later" and I have being trying for 1 week. When I call to activate the card they ask me for social security number, seriously? SSN to activate a gif card come on... Very bad...
Who did they pay to write those positive reviews? I loaded funds and havent been able to use the card unless I open an account like a regular bank with total online strangers, provide social security number, etc, mwanwhile they have no form of contact except a phone recording and chatroom. It would be dumb to guive those phantom thieves personal info.
Long story short. I purchased 3 moneypak cards at $500 each. Didn't use them. Followed instructions online for refund of each. Got email with case number for each but after not hearing anything, I called. I received one refund eventually but called back and was told the picture quality wasn't good (it's the same quality as the one that was paid). Resent pictures anyway then was told neither my name nor the reference numbers they emailed me was in their system! I contacted the Consumer Protection Agency who referred the case to the Federal Reserve Board of San Francisco who regulates GreenDot. After numerous phone calls and almost 4 months I received the remaining funds. I could go into more details regarding my interactions with them but suffice it to say, it's a terrible, terrible company with terrible customer service. If enough people complain to the proper authorities, maybe some action will be taken to stop them from conducting business and ripping people off.
So i recently purchases a prepaid card from Walgreens a couple days ago. My sister used this bank company before so I didn't think I would have any issues with it. The cashier uploaded my money onto this prepaid card without a problem. When I got into the car I attempted to activate my card. It kept saying I had a invalid card number or what not. So I call costumer service and tell the what's going she said give it about 24 hours and than I told her I was going to get court involved she turns around and say give it at least a hour. So decided to wait until the next day. I try one more time and it say it could not validate my card. So I call again and at this point I'm irritated. They say they will send me a refund check in my mailbox and it could take up to 2 business days. Hopefully they do or i will kindly go off on these people.
I thought I was putting money on a gift card. They want way to much info about you including SSN! They want the right to hard you by email, phone or text. You cannot get in touch with anyone. I tried to chat on line and they cut me off. I'm out of $20! I'm going to Walmart mgmy to complain about them.
Greendot is amazing as direct deposit when you don't have a bank. It helps us pay our bills, use as a debit and we are even able to store 5k on our account that's seperatefrom the card called the vault. We get to view all of our statements too, going back as long as you have had the card. Never had any issues.
I opened a green dot bank account by buying a $50 green dot bank card and some wound up with a $39 fraudulent charge and $3 transaction fee and was notified of the suspect charge by green dot and. When I verified that I hadn't made the change in question they canceled my card and said they would send me a new card then told me I'd have to call to dispute the charges I called and was placed on hold close to 2 hours and had to call several times before finally getting a hold of anyone. And now I have to wait at least 10 working days to investigate the claim and they will let me know something afterwards. If all I had to my name was $50 green dot just left me with $3 and I never even got to use the card once. I. Feel so betrayed. Apparently this is what modern day customer service looks like. If you can't walk into a bank at least you should be able to get a real person on the phone.
On November 10th I went to use my debit card at 2 locations was declined. I've had a card for 4 years never had a problem until now. I called green dot was told my account was closed it had a balance of 2000. 00 They told me they notified me they were closing it. Comlete lie. I never received a notice or reason why. I was told my refund of 2000. 00 would be sent to me in 30 days but could not tell me when it would be sent. L use this card to pay bills and take care of my handicapped wife and son. Lousy holidays thanks to these non English speaking people. Steve Harvey I thought you were a good person, but to represent this company you have low standards. Do NOT get a prepaid card from them. They keep charging you a monthly fee long after you are closing the account. On the phone they lie to you about waiving the fee and closing the acct, but the following month all feed add up again. It's like a nightmare, it keeps coming back to haunt you! Worst of it, the have your SSN. Also when you activate the card, they are opening a checking acct on your name too, without you asking for it, or even activate it! Beware people, find someone else!
Wish I could give 0 stars. I received one of the green dot cards as a gift with $25 on it. The day after I register it, they charge an 7.95 fee wtf? I don't plan on ever reloading it or using any of there services, I only want my gift. They just stole $7.95. They should only charge their stupid monthly fee if you decide to reload it, and use it as a real card. They automatically send you another card with you name printed on it after you register it. Like I ever wanted that, I already have a bank, and they don't charge no monthly fee. I just want my $25. Smh what ever you do do not use green dot. They should never take the monthly fee out of the initital loaded amount.
They have horrible customer service when you call up there you get people who do not know how to speak English hardly they don't understand what you're saying you call about a direct deposit and they are saying you need a trace number when the person who sent the direct deposit which is your job did not get a trace number all I got was a confirmation number they get rude with you when you're trying to explain stuff so this is the worst horrible Bank you could ever use

There was money stolen from my account sept 2nd from *******@gmail.com saying i sent it to this email yeah ok of 650 bucks been dealing with it ever cents i did the dispute they gave me credit 14 days later but guess what card no good now cant transfer money either theyblocked that i get told every day i sent my documents to wrong email which it is rigjt i sent them 17 different times to 4 different email. Its unreal every day stress i want my money that those people have stolen

WORST company ever. Negative stars! My account was hacked a week before the covid19 epidemic began. I got straight through. They put a block on my current card and billed me for and sent a new card. As of now almost 2 months later my account is still locked. I can not reach anyone with the company. The phone number says to get online and online says to call. Best part my new card that I was charged for can not be activated. I can not access my funds, which means I can not pay my bills or even by food. As soon as I can get my money back I am leaving this company, never coming back, and telling everyone to NEVER use them.
