Grammarly has a rating of 4.2 stars from 3,515 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Grammarly most frequently mention free version, great tool and sentence structure. Grammarly ranks 4th among Tutor sites.
Premium is hardly different from the normal Grammarly but is still very expensive. It charges your account without any sort of reminder because they know that if they did, you would cancel. So sad; I really wanted to like it.
I'm a professional editor and writer (NY Times, Psychology Today,
Men's Health et al.), and the author of a style and usage manual.
Grammarly is crap. I signed up for a free trial (and damn, it was hard to remove the
Thing from my computer afterward), and submitted a short paragraph simply
Dripping with errors of spelling, grammar, usage and punctuation. Grammarly
Missed every one of the mistakes; it flagged only one word as a possible
Error---one that was not an error at all.
I distrust all spell-checkers and other computerized editing tools, so yes, I was
Biased going in, but Grammarly's performance in my brief test more than
Justified my bias. Stay away from this program.
I started using Grammarly about 2 months ago. It highlights my errors in emails, proposals, notices and many other work as well. It is an excellent tool to have on your screen. Wished I had used it earlier!
It's about as useful as the autocorrect feature on my phone. Just use Microsoft Office Word or pretty much any free word processor and you'll have better spelling and grammar checking.
On their website it says '4.5-star rating with over 20,000 reviews' which a quick google search will reveal, is not true. Not even close.
Other than that, I was worried about how they make money on a free product. Skimming their privacy policy, terms of agreement and a google search revealed that they sell the data they mine from everything you type, including confidential and/or private information (!!!)
Fortunately, their software is stable enough for everyday use. But it's not like it's going to help you much.
I really like using this app. The reason I gave it four stars rather than five is because when a person uses a screen reader they can't tell exactly where their errors are. Excellent product. Please work on accessibility for the blind with screen readers.
Even the most experienced writers make mistakes, especially when fatigue kicks in. Correcting them can cost a lot of time, energy, and nerves. It's important to have useful software by side, as it makes the writing better and the whole process much enjoyable. As per me, Grammarly is one of the best tools for proofreading available.
The free version is extremely useful and helpful. I've recommended it to many people, especially to those learning English as a Second Language. With the differences between spoken English and written English, Grammarly is an invaluable tool to help them learn in real-time through basic conversations. I'm surprised that I haven't overloaded it with alerts when I'm translating between languages, especially the Asian languages. I like that little "neutral face" at the bottom. It's like he's thinking, "I have no idea what you're typing." It does get entertaining watching that little guy change as you type. I have never gotten more use out of any app than I have from Grammarly. When I can afford to go Pro, I definitely will. Keep up the great work, and thank you!
Grammarly is great. I love the suggestions on making things more concise, spelling and other advice on general grammatical errors. Please leave me alone because I don't use Oxford commas. I have to literally press ignore each and every time. It's such a pain. I don't use them per training in journalism prior to the change in AP Style where they are now accepted. So that's my only complaint.
Hi Kary,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us.
Please know that Grammarly's suggestions are always options for you to consider, so feel free to disregard any suggestions that don't work for you.
If you're a Grammarly Premium user, you can deactivate certain types of suggestions in the Grammarly Editor: https://gram.ly/cbbHVjK and in Grammarly for Microsoft Office: https://gram.ly/cbbHVjY.

Grammarly is literally the best tool to use if you are constantly writing emails, documents or just on the computer typing away. I've used Grammarly for 1.5 year and I cannot recommend this enough. The quick quality control over what you type and write is a godsend. Remember when Microsoft Word had that spell check feature. Think of Grammarly as Spell Check but on Steroid. It has helped me adjust my writing to better reflect what I'm trying to say. Honestly having my tone be clear and concise is sometimes hard to get across through words and Grammarly suggestion is wonderful. Sending emails is a pleasure knowing that there is no miscommunication.
This app is embedded into Windows & MS Office with a very small icon and underlining as reminders that don't create too much disturbance to my works in hands. Its response time is quick, and it always provides useful hints to my typing mistakes.
Grammarly is excellent and easy to use. It makes users realize how deficient they are in writing. The program also corrects English issues and, brings significant clarity to statements.
I am never comfortable sending written documents without running them through Grammarly. By doing that, one can be comfortable that the message is received without the distraction of an embarrassing misspelling, a misstatement, or a mistake otherwise.

1. Quite often, I have to doubleclick to take over a correction of grammarly. 2. The green symbol too often appears where I want to write. Throw it away! We want the service, not your self-presentation. 3. Stay away from youtube! I hate your adverts!
Since using this app my emails I send out daily are now void of the many mistakes that have been making and knowingly.
It's interesting that these mistakes even thought they are small, make for an embarrassing email!
I'm a regular subscriber who has loved Grammarly in the past. But now some programmer has added correction notifications to change sentence order to get rid of dependent clauses without sufficient controls, for example putting description inside the quoted dialogue. Or reordering sentences in paragraphs so that the meaning is totally changed. This is getting so frustrating that I am thinking of trying another grammar service.

I found some anglophone Canadians with English as their mother tongue use Grammarly. Inspired, some four years ago, I installed Grammarly on my desktop, phone and tablet system with yearly payment and constantly used it without a break.
Now, I wonder how did I write earlier without Grammarly!
Pros: Grammarly is extremely helpful; the app guides step by step through writings for any mistake, giving an overall impression of how the reader would take the writing.
Cons: Expensive; they are unwilling to give a discount. I had to pay the full $139.95 on Aug 22,2021, for the latest Premium renewal despite my request as a senior with limited funds.
I've had such a bad experience. Let me write freely without having to worry about error, please! Stay away from me and let Microsoft Word their work! I'm not going to pay jack-squat for your dumb upgrade!
Sharp knives let a chef's vision make it to the plate. A fresh saw blade allows a carpenter to fit joints perfectly. For a writer, expressing a cutting insight with a pithy paragraph requires well-honed words in concise arrangements. Even after writing as a lawyer for 25 years, Grammarly has urged me to write better. It calls out missing commas, suggests better phrasing, and corrects spelling errors. It is subtle and unobtrusive across word processing apps and websites, and it learns from you, too. I recommended Grammarly to coworkers, friends, and my university-attending children. Others will judge you by the words you speak and write, so use the best words that you can.
On May 1st (2017), I reported that Grammarly refused to refund any portion of my one year subscription of $82 when I cancelled it after four months of using it. But after 2 months, a customer-service clerk named Ann walked an extra mile for me, and refunded $48. Though Grammarly failed in performance as an editing tool, Ann deserves three stars. Thanks, Ann, for your kindness. You make Grammarly looks better though its product has many faults.
Grammarly has helped me to make sure my tone is sharp, informative, and very professional. I have always been known as a good writer; however, it has honed my writing skills to the next level of greatness.
As a software developer, dealing with clients is part of my task. Grammarly helped me to rephrase some of the keywords in my emails and messages.
And yeah, they didn't use any incentive for this review :)
Answer: I agree with everyone else. I have been using grammarly for almost 2 years and I never had a problem with viruses or anything. It is a good product and well worth the investment.
Answer: Only for premium but everything else is free It's great!
Answer: Hi, Cath! We're sorry to hear about that. We care deeply about the satisfaction of our users, and we want to address any issues we can in order to improve. Could you please submit a support ticket via https://gram.ly/sitejabber so we can check on your request?
Answer: Make sure you have set it to your language, as the default is American English, and you may need to change it. If you don't need to, remember that you could have failed for other reasons (not enough information, too much information, using Grammarly as a tool that will get everything right etc.).
Answer: There is a limit, but I find that only a minor inconvenience. If the document goes over the size limit, just cut and paste the document by halves or thirds and run Grammarly checks on each part.
Answer: linguisoft.com - Gtrammarian PRO is a good one.
Answer: Hi, Aleksandra! We can't expect Grammarly to work effectively with song lyrics because grammar rules are often ignored altogether to add aesthetic elements to them. If you have any other questions, please contact us directly at http://gram.ly/3zJAHbw.
Answer: Hi, John! This shouldn't be happening, but if you are experiencing this issue, we suggest contacting our technical support team via: gram.ly/3zJAHbw. They can help you troubleshoot this issue. We hope this helps!
Answer: Hi, Anne! If you need to recover any of your recently deleted documents, contact our support team by submitting a ticket through this link: gram.ly/3zJAHbw. We might be able to recover them!
