Javier handled my complaint with professionalism and efficiency. I had a good customer service experience.
The ticket raised was closed abruptly without taking my consent. This proves that freelancers are cheating clients

During my time on freelancer.com, I only participated in contests.
These contests were absolutely horrifying. Nearly every user who entered had (1) completely ignored the guidelines set by the contest host, or (2) essentially copied the top-rated designs and then spammed the entry. Then they create fake accounts to "like" their own images & make them more visible.
But by far, the worst offense was that a ridiculous amount of users just stole images and logos from other sites, and did so without consequence.
I actually had a contest where I was the first to enter, I corresponded with the host to improve my design, and I spent upwards of 8 hours making something they would like. But when my design became the "top pick", a good 10 or 15 designers went and copied the image almost exactly. Even so, I thought I was fine because I was still rated the top design by the time the contest closed.
And then another designer, who was clearly using images stolen from google & photoshopped (mind you, the guidelines stated it was to be an "illustration"), was awarded the prize at the last minute.
This was not Freelancer.com's fault, it was the host's decision. Regardless, that was the last straw for me. I'm not about to spend hours on an original design just to have the winner be someone who slapped together an image in 5 minutes, especially if they just essentially copied my entry. And I'm certainly not going to continue making designs for employers who couldn't care less about anything other than the end result, even if it's created illegally.
If thousands of users on a website consistently violate copyright law without consequence, why would I feel like my work was safe from suffering the same fate?
From what I've been reading, I'm at least thankful that I never gave them access to my bank account.
Josie G helped me very clearly and i am fully satisfied regarding my problem as it is resolved by Josie G in a moment.
Thankyou so much Josie G
We hate these guys with a passion, and we've been with them since they were out of Scandinavia (and decent - at that time they were getafreelancer.com GAF) - BEFORE they became Aussie owned and decided to see how much money they can screw out of everybody. Their fees are to the point of ridiculous (another site that we use charges a FLAT RATE OF $6.95 PER MONTH and there's no draconian escrow system - how you get paid is between YOU and the CLIENT, like grown ups.) and they keep going up, and the hoops you have to jump through FOR EVERYTHING is even more ridiculous. I spend more time explaining to clients HOW to make and release payments through them than I do actually working.
Now in the last couple of months, as if their fees and hoops aren't bad enough, they've decided freelancers can't ask for their initial milestone deposits (our initial milestones are a 33% deposit to cover things like software we have to buy for the client up front) to be released up front, they have to leave them in escrow. So, basically if the client stalls the project - we're out of pocket.
Their latest control freak trip - is they're complaining about everybody's profile pic/logo - and threatening to terminate our accounts if we don't "upgrade" our look. FYI - OURS IS OUR COMPANY LOGO!
Thank goodness we only use them to pick up an occasional job maybe twice a year. I really need to take the time and find another site to replace this one...
Freelancer.com - this site used to be a marketplace for people to find work and others who want to get their work done. Just after this site got merged with scriptlance.com and vworker.com (Rent a coder - old name), the pool of freelancers increased to millions. Most of them from Indian and from Pakistan, Bangladesh. Now the situation with freelancer is that they are not interested in looking at the way projects are being posted or whether there is any minimum bid policy. People on freelancer can ask for anything that can take weeks and just post $30 to get this done. Obviously, many will jump into this to get done, but the problem comes for employers after they start work with such people. They either don't get satisfied work or get reasons from freelancer that scope is increasing. The problem is somewhere in middle, it is freelancer's bad policy if exposing others bids, others profile that make the situation so vulnerable. Is there anyone who wants to pay more for getting something done, when there is some one else who is so confident to say he can get it done.
Freelancer is just getting more and more worse day by day and they are just looking to be interested in making their UI more beautiful and fancy. Come on freelancer, focus on value which has created your base of business. Focus on your freelancer and employers who work together. See how many of them are happy. Else sooner your days are countable in fingers. People will just stop using you.
Also please stop marketing gifts, coupons etc. People come to your website for work, provide them good work place and they will be happy. Learn from elance and odesk. They know how to do business better. You have scored high only by acquiring your next competitors and showing your self big. High time to learn and you can see this page where 80% people have not scored more then 1 star for you.

I Experienced that Freelancer having good and quick customer service. Keep it
The contact with Brenda was kind and explicite, it gave me a clear answer about the issue I was facing. Perfect!
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
Hello Lydia, Marcus of Freelancer.com here. Thank you for sharing your the pain points you've experience with the recent changes in our site processes.
I can see that you have raised some concerns about Milestone Payment. Should you encounter an issue with an employer about the payments, you can utilize our Dispute Resolution Services. Make sure that you provide all evidence you have that will support your claims. If you already bought software to start employer's project, mention it in your dispute claims along with supporting documents.
With regard to profiles, like what I have mentioned in my comment in another review posted here, we have made necessary changes in our quality guidelines. This was done to better capture the talent on our site, because, based on our studies, it is the freelancer's profile which the employer initially check when they consider someone for a job and your profile picture plays a big part of it.
Anyway, we have noted the feedback you've stated here and be assured that this will be reviewed by our management team as we are continuously striving to improve our Customer Experience. If there is anything else you wish to share or if you have issues which I can be of help, feel free to email me at marcusc@freelancer.com. Thank you, Lydia.
