Euro 75 late arrival chg. When a lot of UK flights arrive after 2100 airport carhire desks should reflect this. Fortunately phoned from baggage hall at 2150! Alternative was a Euro 60 taxi to hotel then return by taxi following day. Next time will arrange carhire locally.
The car i received (nissan Juke) was not the car i ordered and paid (Jeep Renegade). There was no other option then to accept the Nissan. I paid €400,- more to have a bigger car (for my family and luggage) and didn't get any refund.
The car was brand new and reliable (Peugeot 208 diesel).
A pick up service was offered (for 15' walking distance) which was fast and uncomplicated.
The car seat ordered was of poor quality and not isofix (compromised safety).

Finding Europcar on the Airport Heraklion was a little bit difficult, but after calling the number on our reservation-letter, it was very easy.
Someone from Europcar brought us to the office from Europcar, where we signed some documents and got our car - this took about 30-45 Minutes.
Everything was perfect, the car was totally ok (we got a Mitsubishi Spacestar, wich is a little bit small/low for greek streets).
On the last day, we thought it would take much longer to return our car, like on the first day, but we were finished in about 10 Minutes and someone from Europcar brought us back to the Airport.

Car fine. Needed credit card but debit accepted eventually deposit also taken no receipt. Trust all is OK. Unexpected late arrival charge made. No instructions for drop off, still unsure what we do today. Greet on arrival was nice.
Very helpful! Especially Angelica who looked after everything regarding our rental she was amazing and would highly recommend her. I do have a query about the pricing now I am back but I'm sure she will sort it all out for me.

Pick up was really fast. Registration took a lot of time, although I have all the information saved during the booking (address, driver license and mileage), she had to input everything again manually. But very friendly and helpful

Horrific policy. My license from Canada updates every 5 yrs as do most across the globe. This is so for update of address and photo. According to Europcar policy if your license has a issue date of less than 1 year you can't rent a car. In my case, mine had renewed in Jan so although I have been driving for 40 years, I was given a hard time, an unbending front desk person and a delay in starting my holiday. Terrible policy. I will not rent from there again
The experience was good however at pick up we were notified that there is an additional drop charge which was unexpected. This costs would be best noticed at booking so that a true cost comparison can be made with other providers.

UPDATE: These con artists keep replying avoiding to address the elephant in the room. My card gave me back the money they tried to charge me when I reported them for fraud, thus proving my claim. The rest is riff raff because they don't know what to say.
If this outfit steals your money claiming you were late, even though you booked with your flight number, claim it from your card. That's what I did successfully, as these people are SCAM ARTISTS.
I repeat, they are running SCAMS.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM, and if you have, cancel the booking now and book with someone else. You will still save a ton of money.
Probably the best customer service I have ever experienced at a car rental company ever, anywhere (and I travel extensively around the world), thanks to the two wonderful staff members at the Athens airport, whose names unfortunately I cannot remember. Pity, because I wanted to mention them by name in this review. They were a lady and a gentlemen, and they were both exceedingly helpful and polite. The only other place where I have experienced such pampering was in Japan. Truly remarkable. And the car was awesome, a new Toyota Corolla with very low mileage that drove beautifully. As a long-time, loyal Lexus owner, that part did not surprise me, but some renters tend to abuse their cars. This one was an absolute joy to drive.

Not booking with Europcar globally ever again!
Hidden fees which are not shown when making the booking. Clear issue in the website not showing extra charges for when dropping off the car "out of hours".
They local branch has acknowledged the issue but could not deal with it themselves and not willing to provide a refund. I have contacted Europcar's global customer support and still waiting for a response (it's been more than a week and they say they reply back within 4 hours….). Ridiculous

I gave a wrong arrival time of my flight (my fault!), so that as I arrived no one was waiting for me. I called the hotline and just 15 min later a shuttle picked us up and brought us to the car (the station is about 5 minutes drive from the Heraklion airport). After having called the local Europcar agency we had to wait another 30 minutes in front of Mykonos airport for the pickup-service.
Finally the car we received was one category smaller and had only four seat belts for the five of us.
We'll see, if Europcar will be able to change the vehicle very soon as agreed!

Polite employees, somewhat too long onboarding process but hopefully going forward it will be faster as all my data are already registered. Nice, fresh car provided. Please pay attention to gas returning levels, as when I received the car the gas tank was a tad lower than full (I still knowingly signed for 8/8 level).
