Been with then for ten plus years.They were alright until their merger with Morgan Stanley. Now you have to go thru idiots answereing the phone. Thats the only available contact with them.

The last expiration of one of my held warrants, I received only a phone call late on a Friday afternoon. I LOST MY WARRANTS! They had NO explanation.
The customer service I was talking on the phone today some how they were unable to help me I asked for a manager and they told me you're not qualify to talk with a manager as a client because I wasn't a big client meaning I don't have a lot of money in the account
If you're new to investing and looking for a positive experience, E*Trade is not the place for you. Try calling their customer services phone numbers and you will experience 2+ hour hold times. What to use their Chat services, don't bother, they are never operational. What about their Chat Bots for answering basic questions, forget it as their developers don't have a clue what investors are really looking for so their bots are incapable of directing you to meaningful information.
If you hope to make day trades on this platform to grow your money, forget it... E*Trade has a 2-3 turn time between your sell to the time your funds are back in your account and available for trading. Why? Corporate Raking is when the money of customers are used in pools so the company can invest and make money while the consumers funds are idle. For that 2-3 days that E*Trade is using your money... day traders sit idle waiting for their funds to become available again.
E*Trade is the worst. I've moved my money to another platform.
I have filed a complaint with FINRA regarding the Sept 1 transfer of accounts from Etrade to Morgan Stanley as a result of the firms' failure to communicate effectively and in a timely manner, self-dealing, breach of fiduciary duty and unilateral investment in an unsuitable investment. Etrade did not inform investors who had cash balances in competitive money market funds (in my case yielding
Over 4.75%) the termination of the fund option and the sweeping of the balances into the Morgan Stanley Private Bank with a yield of 0.05%. I had two accounts with substantial cash balances generating over $1000 and $500 in monthly money market income. Frequently the larger account had cash balances in excess of the $250,000 of FDIC insurance!
I discovered this a week ago after seeing my money market fund liquidated as of the end of August.
If you are a current Etrade customer you should check how the "free" cash in your account is now being invested.
I have little expectations that FINRA will do much for the investors. The day after filing the compliant I received and email from FINRA indicated my concerns were being forwarded to "the firm to provide a response directly to you". Some much for and independent regulatory body. No wonder we have such a low trust in our institutions.

We have been using this bank for more than 10 years and have overall good opinion on it. This was our first bank that did not require personal contact to open an account and had pretty comprehensive online capabilities. However, recently we had to do transfers for a few accounts and found out that every single step has to be supported by us calling customer service. You submitted all docs and they rejected the request, call to find out why. Oh, you had to submit a copy of DL. Uploaded? Call again and they will verify it over the phone, but please call in two days to make sure everything was ok. Rejected again?, Call to find out why. Because the statement is old. Uploaded? Call again. DL was scanned, but it is supposed to be a cellphone image, not scanned image. Uploaded? Call again. We just did and were told everything looks good, but again, call in two days to give them time to review and make sure everything is good. Come on, people, it is 21st century out there, keep automating your processes and don't get stuck in old technologies! In addition, some accounts do not have option to contact customer service by secure email, but some do.
Different circumstances without being paid, but in the end, filed a complaint against them through COUP GATES and I received every penny back.
The website is so dysfunctional it keeps showing the wrong balance, which is significantly lower than the actual balance, causing daily anxiety and panic.

This company is crooked and sits on your money in their slush fund making interest while you are fighting weeks, on the phone, holding, being lied too etc. Very Very poor company and un ethical.
I'm a professional Insurance Broker for over 25 years, meaning that I interact with customer service and performance of big companies daily and never work with an entity with so unprofessional lack of training CSR waiting time and unfair Co. After opening or trying to do so with no reason after over 12 calls and waiting on hold for over 12 hours they decided to close my account (that was never really open) with no explanation because they said they don't give reasons when they "Closed an account" They make me send copies of all types of ID's they made a three way call with my bank they verify everything, why they did that? Well who knows because no even a supervisor knows. What I know now is that my money is there in their account and now I have to wait for over six business day to get my money back, of course if is true what the last supervisor told me because every time you cal that company they told you one thing and they do another. Worst worst company to do business with, I never like to write reviews but I think this e*trade deserves it.
Whether you are a large investor/trader or a small one, you should be very aware of a problem I experienced. I had a number of puts that I wanted to "sell/close" that were about ready to expire with good value and when I went in to put in the order to sell, the Etrade system would not recognize the stock symbol. I sent a number of messages to their customer service and did not hear back(nor could I sit on my desk and wait the 1-2 hours to hear a live voice) until "after" the puts had reversed direction and became worthless. Etrade customer service said that because I didn't have a record of putting in the order, they would not reimburse me for "some" of my loss, but I told them they didn't have a record because THEIR system wouldn't let me put in the order! They said "So sorry" and moved on. So remember--if you have a crucial time sale that needs to be placed and their is a system failure, it's apparently the customer's fault and you are screwed. I am closing my account after 25 years with them and moving on to someone with some accountability and better operating systems.
My mother had $20 remaining in her account for many, many years. They never bothered to refund her money. How many millions of people do they screw in this way and how many millions or billions do the fat cats at the top of the food chain make from this unconscionable behavior. So far I am on my fourth call to try and retrieve this money. First they have to close up her account but they can't do it that day. Then they can close it up the next call but it will take a couple days to open it up. I call to open it up but that will take a couple days to get the money out. I call a couple days later they say it is not open yet. On this latest call I am on the phone so far for 38 minutes and counting waiting to speak to a supervisor….addendum….call answered and supervisor states I must call back again in a couple of days.
Do not deal with this horrific company. They are really slimy beyond belief. I don't give a damn about the $20 but will not let them win. They are counting on people giving up. The majority will give up and they win. A minority will fight it and then give up. They win. A small percentage will fight it and not give up. It's a good money maker but incredibly slimy.
After depositing money to do trades, they decided to cancel my account with no reason and states they will not send me any refunds and gave no explanation. How can they get away with this?
When i called customer service ask something they didn't came on phone till 55 minutes, i would say call them take nap then they will response your phone call i won't recommend use their service

I am getting cash back for items I was already planning on buying. It is like getting an extra discount especially around the holidays when cash back is doubled.
When you talk to customer service they will tell you anything to get you off the line. Lies lies lies They have frozen my account with over 20,000 for two weeks.

I have 4 brokerage accounts i bought hymc for a single dollar in this acount as i knew morgan stanley is a corrupt broker. Hymc went through a reverse split etrade now wants me to pay 75$ to them im not short on the company they just want to charge me 75x my initial investment thinking im stupid. Fidelity moomoo and webull gave me the difference in cash as i did not have enough shares to convert a 1 for 100 split lol etrade intstead thinks its ethical to charge this 75x my account value lol sickening not only will i not accept that i will not pay that and im done with etrade i would strongly recomend staying away from here at all cost if you are a retail investor.
