Service was worse
July 17, 2024

.Service from the worst that is unhelpful. I can attest to the veracity of the negative reviews I've read here, as I too have encountered similar issues. Due to their unsatisfactory responses, I was unable to withdraw $45,000 of my hard-earned money. After submitting my complaint and supporting documentation to these helpful firms named R_E_C_O_V_C_A_P_I_T_A_L, I was only able to receive my money back from them with their assistance...

If You Use E*TRADE to trade, then E*TRADE is cheating you--here's how to tell...
May 9, 2023

I believe I have found them actually cheating their customers by misrepresenting stock values, I've posted screenshots here to illustrate...

Screenshot 3 (arrows on right chart) displays on the etrade trading platform that RITM on 5/4/23 is shown to have a price gap at 9:40, with an open/close of $7.72/7.71 and hi/lo of $7.72/7.70. There's also volume of 10.6k, notice the short red bar...

However, screenshot 4 (arrows on left chart) shows the etrade paper trade chart (the simulator), for the same exact stock on the same exact day and time, displaying the price drop, but without the gap, opening at $7.76, closing at $7.71, with a hi/lo of $7.78/7.70. Also 3x the volume at 32.4k, notice the long red bar and no gap...

In comparison to an outside, third party chart (screenshot 1, red arrow displaying a price of $7.78 at 9:40) it's the paper trade chart that matches (the simulator) and not the live etrade chart that's used to actually trade on... then a couple hours later, the trading chart is altered to reflect the same data that the paper trade/outside charts have been displaying (screen shot 2).

I see this fairly frequently on etrade. Often its in the first minute of trading, but never later than a few minutes after the bell, when the market is more volatile. It seems to be isolated to one single minute, during a large move, and though I'm not a hundred percent sure, I believe it's always on a downturn. To me, it looks like etrade is falsely reporting the market data. Anybody wanting to sell the stock, believing that there was a price gap, would sell at $7.72 or lower, while the market value would be higher.

A middle man could scoop up those extra few cents, which would actually add up to be quite a bit more than a few cents. Those few cents, on every stock, on every order, not to mention, the manufactured gap might tend to spark a bit of a sell off. Multiply that by a huge number of different stocks, every trading day. That would be quite a bit of money, if something like that could be built into the system, wouldn't it?

If this is the case, I don't possibly see how it could be legal, if it's not the case, what could be behind this anomaly? I keep thinking about how I've seen this repeatedly and how the figures are modified to reflect the outside data later in the day.

I'd advise that you check this out yourself.

Tip for consumers:

I'd recommend riding a unicycle down a staircase before I'd refer you to E*TRADE!

Etrade Has Kept My Account Frozen For Over A Year
March 18, 2021

I opened an Etrade account in March 2020 and purchased five stocks. I also have a separate savings account with them as well. In total I have over $7,000 invested with Etrade. I was sent an Etrade checkbook and debit card which are completely unusable. Access to my account was frozen the day after I opened it. I contacted customer service two times and it's a call center in India. After I waited over one and a half hours the first time to speak to a rep, I was asked irrelevant security questions to "prove" who I am. I was switched around to two other reps who were of no help either. I was told that I had to send my drivers license, bank account records and social security number in a pdf file to unlock my account. Who in the hell sends that kind of personal information in a pdf file to some purported call center in India? Sound fishy? You bet it is. I contacted my local Etrade branch that's been closed since the pandemic (and still is closed even though most other banks and brokers are open for business), and I throughly explained my problem with my frozen account and the horrible service with their "customer service" center. He tells me he's sorry to hear that (yeah I bet he was) and that he can't help me unlock my account! Why not?! He says that for security purposes I can only deal directly with "customer service" to unlock my account. At that moment my pulse felt like it was 120 beats per minute. To say that I was pissed is a very mild understatement. I asked the guy why do have to call a service center in a foreign country who asked for very personal information about me so that I can have my account reopened. He said it's Etrade's policy to only work with customer service. I ended the call with a few explicit words and hung up on the asshat. He knows the method of operation that Etrade is running: a major scam. I'm sure Morgan Stanley is behind this entire fraudulent scheme since they bought out Etrade. Morgan Stanley has a pretty piss poor reputation as well. Since Etrade has STOLEN my money, ROBBED me, SCAMMED me... I filed a claim with FINRA. FINRA is an absolute joke. They are a useless mediation committee that most often sides with the onerous behavior of brokerage firms. Don't waste your time with FINRA. They're absolute crap. Second step was to contact my attorney. He was very sorry to hear what I was experiencing with Etrade, but he didn't have the expertise in that field of law to peruse litigation against them so he referred me to an attorney who handles claims against brokerage firm fraud. I was turned down by that attorney because he told me that (in fine print on Etrade's customer agreement) that Etrade will only permit mediation and attorneys can't intervene. I thought to myself, "oh $#*!. I'm screwed". Etrade (Morgan Stanley) actually ROBBED me of my securities. I might as well have been held at gunpoint in a dark alley while some f-ing thug stole all my cash. Why and how is Etrade getting away with this theft and NOBODY is doing Jack $#*! about it? WHY?! I'd also like to note that my local Etrade office first claimed that they'd reopen for normal operation on March 2,2021. Then they bumped it up to March 24, then April 5th. Such juvenile games these people play. I think the only way we'll ever see our money again is if there's a class action suit taken against Etrade. Currently there are a number of class action suits pending against Etrade. Something needs to be done with these filthy, rotten crooks. Is it extortion? Embezzlement? What? What the f are these people at Etrade doing and being able to sustain hoarding hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars from their customers. A pile of moldy $#*! smells like roses compared to the management of Etrade and their policies. If hell actually was real those bastards running Etrade and Morgan Stanley would all enjoy eons of a scorching "good time" there.

I HAVE MY FUNDS BACK
March 5, 2019

I joined Etrade last year and invested $50,000 in Etrade and i lost $83,000, i wanted to withdraw my balance and i couldn't do that, i contacted them, but they never contacted me or reply to any of my emails. I was confused and very bitter about it. I needed to get my money back but i couldn't. I read the online review about recovery expert called MALAIKA RECOVERY. I tried to contact them and explained my problem and wanted my money back, i gave them the information's they needed to work on. Thanks to wwwDOTmalaikarecoveryDOTcom. I advice you all that are investing in ETrade to be very careful and feel free to write him with his office email via adminATmalaikaconsultantDOTcom and thank me later
