EHarmony claims to have a sophisticated matching algorithm that considers a lot of psychological questions. I doubt that the responses of these questions are being used at all. I have used eHarmony for about a year and I can assure that there matching algorithm is simply "if we can't find any body that meets his/her preferences, just send him/her 10 - 15 random matches just in case even if they don't meet his/her preferences at all". Don't waste your time and money on this site. It is over priced for nothing. This site doesn't give you the choice to look up matches yourself. And seriously it doesn'tt even consider you search preferences at all. It will send you a number of matches every morning and usully most of matches you receive every morning will have soemthing in common (e.g., today most matches are from the East Coast, tomorrow most matches are all from Colorado, a week ago most matches are from one ethnicity or, and so on) I don't think they truly send matches based on preferences. They just want to send you 10- 15 matches regardless to make it sound like a useful site. This site doesn't respect physical preferences such as height for instance.
Also it is VERY expensive and that discourages people from being paid members. It may allow unpaid members to send and receive questions and their pre-selected answers only without allowing them to view the picture of the other matches. The question is, how would that help? What's the point of just answering some MCQ without even knowing how the person I am answering her MCQ's look like?
Save your money.

Hi Tony - If you have received a match that is outside your current Match Preferences, this is most likely a Flex Match. Flex matches are created when anything other than “Very Important” is selected under your Importance setting. I'd you'd like I can look into this for you and also look over your account to see if there's anything we can do to improve your experience. I am available at membercare@eharmony.com - Stephen

Failed connections.
March 11, 2022

I was on their site for quite awhile and never made a connection. They either sent a message then wouldn't respond or wouldn't respond when I sent a message. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone.

Consumer BEWARE
February 20, 2016

I signed up in the morning, completing the questions and picking a pic. I then got an email saying they have removed my profile. I was confused since I had just signed up for it that morning. I tried to login to see whats up. The site said I can reactive my account and when I try, nothing happens. I tired to login with my phone, nothing, tried with my ipad, nothing. I finally tried with my laptop and I was in an endless loop of login pages, all of which would not let me login. I did a search to see if there was site problems and found hundreds of complaints against Eharmony. SO many people saying the site doesnt work, they cant login, they are not getting matched, they can get refunds For a site as highly advertised, it would seem they would want to be sure there is some sort of customer satisfaction. But after reading the endless pages of complaints, articles from the Times and Universities, it seems that Eharmony is doing more harm than good. Glad I didnt get my profile up and running. Consumer beware look into the reviews of this site before signing up!

Eharmony system automatically put me on a year subscription. I never join any dating sites for one year. I just wanted to try it and when I alerted them they said I was past their three day policy. No matter how much I discussed the situation with them it was too bad so sad go on hold or give it to a friend. The give it to the friend one really amazed me, that's some expensive gift to give a friend. Besides not having any matches in my area they sent me to collections even though PayPal allowed me to cancel my subscription and I paid them up-to-date.
They canceled me from the site but to my surprise even though my bank and PayPal disallowed them to continue to charge me for their service that I did not want in the first place they sent me to collections. Be very very careful carful when choosing eharmony dating site. Not only do they not have good matches they have a poor subscription policy. They don't have any matches most likely because there's a lot of other sites that you can go on that you don't have to get hassled to pay when you don't want their services..

EHarmony is a Scam
March 17, 2017

I purchased a yearly membership in December 2016 and I am not
Happy with the service I received. I am requested a refund
Is because I was not receiving responses back from my matches. I have
Written to many matches and I don't hear back. It was brought to my attention
That the reason I am not hearing back is because these people I am being
Matched with don't actually have paid membership with eHarmoney and thus
Can't see my email. To be frank that's very deceiving business practice to
Someone like myself who's paid for membership but yet, I am being matched
With people that are not paid members. And secondly, the people I am being
Matched with are not compatible with me. I put on my profile that I am a
Very physically active person and it is very important to me that my
Matches are also very physically active yet, the people I am being matched
With don't share my same sentiments regarding physical activity. I
Understand that you match people based on their "compatibility" and I have
Found that most of my matches are not compatible to myself.

I called and wrote to eHarmony requesting a refund for the 9 months of the yearly membership I did not utilize. They denied my refund stating that they don't grant refunds under any circumstances, 3 days the membership fee was paid. I promised a service I did not receive and thus requested a refund. I am very disappointed with eHarmony's business practices.

I requested a refund from Eharmony as I was having concerns about account safety. Three times over a couple of months I was targeted by a phony match. This happened when it was a single match offered on his own instead of when they send the daily matches. He then send a request for direct email rather than go through the regular process. In the eharmony mail is a BS flattery thing and how to contact them directly because their account is about to close. Within hours I received a warning from there security monitoring department of a hacked account. When I contacted customer service after the third time to ask for a refund since I was concerned about my account being hacked too, they responded with their no refund policy no exceptions. And said I should contact customer service for help on my profile if I didn't like my results. Apparently your profile can be hacked and your information is then at risk and they don't care. I was originally thinking my account could be cancelled and I could resign up with a different email address/ account so I wouldn't be targeted but now due to their security problems and their complete LACK OF CONCERN OR CUSTOMER CARE I will rethink that. Very disappointing and concerned about the security on that account.

I joined eharmony 12/14/21. Their "personality profile" matched me with terrible matches and very few to choose from, so I requested to cancel my membership and a full refund 12/16/21. THEY DENIED MY REQUEST FOR A REFUND, only providing refunds to people within 3 days if you live in Arizona, California,
Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island
And Wisconsin! WHY I wonder? Probably because those states have a law that allows consumers out of any agreement within 72 hours. IN OTHER WORDS, eharmony is gaming the system and refused me a refund after just 2 days of membership, leaning on their legal terms and conditions.NO ONE AT EHARMONY CARES ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I quit Match.com after a month and they offered me a full refund. It is only fair to all consumers to offer a refund within a reasonable period of time 7-14 days, so you can see what you are getting into. NOT SO WITH EHARMONY. ONCE YOU GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD, LIKE IT OR NOT, KISS YOUR MONEY GOOD-BYE. By the way, I NEVER review companies online. I am just so angry at their unethical business practices I want to warm people. TRY ANOTHER DATING SITE,

Signed up for this service in the hope it might have been as it's marketing portrays, a site for serious dating, an effective platform to find serious relationships.

The truth is the complete opposite, once they have sucked you in its a money extraction tool that tricks its unknowing victims, debiting your credit card for renewal payments without notification or authorisation for circa $500, then threats of legal action and threats of debit recovery of large sums of money are not paid immediately.

I never selected to renew this service I was unable to disable any renewal they just forcefully take your money from your credit card without your consent.

I actually just wanted to see what it was like and it was so bad I never used it at all there are no real people just lots of fake profiles and a few sadly desperate people looking for love and a relationship being taken for a ride by these scumbags.

Absolutely terrible and dishonest practice! BE WARNED! FAKE PROFILES, DO NOT US THIS SERVICE, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND THREATEN YOU, SHAME ON YOU EHARMONY

This is the most expensive and useless site I have ever used. As a paying member, the matches were awful! It was the worst decision I have made. I cancelled my membership and they are continuing to charge me stating that I am locked into a year membership. They are dishonest and not honoring my request to cancel. If I am unhappy I should not have to pay for a year. Right now I am battling and exchanging emails with Customer Service who refuses to refund my money. I cancelled after a month of signing up with them and they are refusing to refund me my money and are insisting I need to pay 10 more months!
You should be ashamed of yourselves! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I DO NOT WANT TONOAY 10 MORE MONTHS! ITS A RIP OFF!

EHarmony is the worst dating site I have ever been on! I was on for a month and got maybe 2 likes but the people where all in other states, I complained that I wanted people closer to me, so they gave me a few, and they didn't not even fit what I was looking for in a relationship. I tried changing my profile thinking maybe it was that, but then it wouldn't let me change it. Finally after a couple of days of logging in, it let me. I tried to cancel the service, but because I sign in for the special of 6 months, they will not let me out of it. IT'S A TOTAL SCAM! You shouldn't be able to do people that way. I HATE THAT I EVER GOT ON THERE AND NOW I CAN'T GET OUT! THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED DOING PEOPLE THAT WAY!

I joined eHarmony with a discount membership. I turned off auto renewals immediately as I do with all subscription services. I was still charged at my "renewal" date, and they would not refund the money even though I contacted them within seconds of the charge. They claimed that I had not cancelled even though I specifically went through the cancel process and my app had the selection "Restore Subscription." They claimed that was for a "different" eHarmony subscription even though I used the app exclusively. It wasn't a different subscription and they are at best knowingly deceptive in their practices to steal money or at worst outright liars. Any company with any integrity wouldn't allow this. They don't care about integrity or their customers' experience.
Go on Match. Their matches are much better, there are many more of them, and their customer service is excellent. I joined them too, then realized I couldn't participate because they require photos which my profession strongly discourages. They refunded my money with no resistance whatsoever and invited me back if my situation changed.
Ask yourself, seriously, what subscription is one "restoring" in the app if as they claim you did not have that subscription to start with (it would say "join"). Their excuses are just a way to steal money from cancelled subscriptions. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY LIKE THAT! Go to Match. They seem to have integrity where eHarmony does not.

This site disappoints in every way. Dobt botger specifying a specific geographical location when looking fir a match as you are sent matches are from all 4 corners of the country regardless and that's fine if it's a penpal you're looking for or you have the flexibility to uproot your home and job in the pursuit of true love.

There is no way of knowing if the people on site are still activel'y looking for love but as I didn't get any response to the one or two I did contact I assume they are either false profiles (and I did get one scammer) or old profiles of people who have moved on (most probably bitterly disappointed with the service from eharmony) but do not realise their profile is still being shown on the site.

Cancelling your accoubt is not straight forward. To come off the site you have to close your account first and then email asking to delete your profile. Once you (quickly) realise it's a terrible site you are not permitted to withdraw from it until your subscription period expires. You are told that you have to leave your details up until the very end of your contract.

So, look elsewhere is my opinion and do not throw your money at this rip-off dating site.

HORRIBLE, DO NOT JOIN
September 23, 2014

HORRIBLE, DO NOT JOIN. I was couple days late to cancel my auto renew, I had to call them since I couldn't do it online and they wouldn't cancel it, they charged me $35 and told me they can't cancel my subscription until I pay off another $73, I even said keep 35 dollars and close my account, but they said they will still collect $73 even if I close my account because i have contract with them. What contract? This is scam.
