eHarmony Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is significantly marred by customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to perceived deceptive practices regarding refunds and subscription management. Many users express frustration over the lack of suitable matches and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of wasted time and money. Customers frequently highlight inadequate customer service, with limited access to support and automated responses exacerbating their concerns. While a few users mention positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a need for improved transparency, better quality control of profiles, and a more responsive customer service approach.

Scam
August 29, 2022

This website is a scam. After subscribing I went to cancel my services within a week of using it because there are no users, then I was told I can't cancel and I would be billed another $300 for the year.

They don't release all of their terms and conditions and they go as far as to try and conceal this information from you.

They make it so complicated to just start a conversation! Their matchmaking fails in implementation. If you want to just start talking to people whose profiles you like you have no chances of doing it- things are difficult to grab there, women are not responsive and not easy-going, it's hard to understand what kind of person you are chatting with and to see if have a certain chemistry. Answering whole bunch of stupid matchmaking questions on Eharmony leads to nothing - the matches they find for you are usually unavailable and their computer-made choices really seem illogical.

I signed up for eharmony@ 167$ for 6 months. I never received a single match or communication via their app. Canceled my membership two months before expiration and they charged my card $230 for a new subscription. When I called they said I could not receive a refund but that they would waive the other $600+ that I apparently was on the hook for. Would not transfer me to a supervisor and insisted the only way I could get a refund is to email them. I did. Sent me an email back saying they would not issue a refund. When I log in, I cannot see anyones photo as they are blurred out and I'm asked to renew my membership. These people are unethical thieves charging a pretty penny for a crap service that you could get for free. Don't waste your time, money or energy on this fraudulent company. The worst!

I knew within 5 minutes e-harmony wasn't for me. My matches were horrible. Not only where there not many and I live in a big city but the ones I had were completely unattractive. Tons of fake accounts or no pictures. I tried to cancel within the hour and they wanted me to widen my perimeters to choose men even older, broker, uglier and farther away.

This is not a site for attractive, confident people. I'm not paying and they can take me to whatever collection agency they choose. Good luck with that e-horrrible

The E-Harmony Scam
August 20, 2022

As advertised I was looking for my PERFECT match. Matched (as advertised) by their dating professionals and algorithm. I was shocked to see the people I was matched with! I am athlete level fit and my profile is all about sport, health and wellness! I was getting matched with morbidly obese men. Nothing against how they choose to live their life but when I am paying SO much money to be matched with my perfect match I expect the people I am matched with will be able to do the activities I do. E-harmony advertises to find your perfect match and that someone finds love every 14 minutes... well here is what is stated in their terms and conditions about how they will not guarantee a perfect match.

I. No Guarantees. Eharmony may not be able to provide matches for everyone seeking to use its Services. Further, eharmony makes no guarantees as to the number or frequency of matches through the Singles Service, or to such matches' ability, desire or criteria to communicate with any user. You understand that eharmony makes no guarantees, either express or implied, regarding your ultimate compatibility with individuals you meet through the Singles Service or as to the conduct of such individuals.

Instead when you contact customer support to cancel your contract due to unacceptable matching, you are told that you must change what you are looking for in a partner to get more matches! Kind of defeats the purpose of answering all those questions in the quiz if you have to change EVERYTHING about yourself to get matches! BUYER BEWARE! It is not all the hype they advertise! And you can't get out of the contract. If you are going to try this site (which I HIGHLY recommend you don't) only get a 1 mth plan.

This company does not give you your closest matches, they frustrate the customers daily by this, all because of greed. If you want to find just matches in your whole state, they give you five matches and they stay the same for weeks adding only new one on occasion. They also stop letting you see all of the users across the states in USA by pages. You could at least do that, now they limit national searches to 2 pages or so. It actually seems it should be unlawful, to charge so much and give so little.

Rip off

Within hours of signing up, knew I had made a mistake. I asked for my subscription to be cancelled and was told that's not their policy. I'm still paying in that $250 mistake. Feel like I was robbed!

Bait and Switch
August 11, 2022

I signed up using an email promotion for 60% off. But the site then defaulted to 50% saying the original offer had expired even though it hadn't. When I complained that July 16 is always. Before July 17, customer refused to help. Consumer fraud IMHO

BIG SCAM
August 11, 2022

EH subscription is very misleading... Be careful. You get the same tired matches and most are not active members. I'm very disappointed as senior African American female there is nothing on E Harmony for us. Keep your money and you have a better chance with other sites for far less money. They refuse to refund my money after cancelling the same day.

This service is astronomical in terms of pricing and if you are unhappy with the service (even after giving it a try and paying a hefty fee) you are made to pay the remaining amount which is completely over priced for the mediocre matches on this website. I hope they eventually burn bridges with all of its clients and go bankrupt after stealing from countless people.

You cannot get refund
August 9, 2022

I tried to cancel eHarmony 1 day into the New contract, but was forced to pay £178 for the year, be very careful, and I believe they reply to some of your dates, making you think you have a date, but as soon you ask to meet they say they can't for one reason or another, and no it's not just me

So after spending the time to fill out a decent profile, letting my daughter review it etc. Let's make it easy, I got more messages when I forgot about the site then I did when I was active. Like the rest, they will send you fake messages if you haven't logged in for a while just to get you back on.

I'm not a handsome guy, but this was another instance of getting way to many messages in a short amount of time compared to when I was actually active. What's worse is I actually had to do some cheesing to get some matches. Careful how you answer their compatibility questions.

This thing says my credibility is low. So whatever.

All the fancy advertising works in their favor. This company should be put out of business. Despite putting in your preferences you get 0 hits and then only with people you have nothing in common with. But when you realize they probably have recycled the same people for EVERYONE, its too late, according to them to cancel. They also get you with the year subscription bull$#*!. You think you're doing better on this site because we all want to not go through every unacceptable person and get a higher quality match. NOPE. So when I asked for a refund, the answer I received in a nutshell was hey if you lower your standards you will have more matches. What the actual F*%k!.
Reported to the BBB so lets see what happens.

Service is now a scam
August 5, 2022

They have little users so when you sign up for a large payment plan that is mandatory it's for nothing. Then when you stop paying it they turn you to collections. Then they lock you out of your account with your auto renewal still activated. So you can not use the site they have locked you out of and continue to charge you for a Service they will not let you access or cancel with your auto renew constantly going to collections. It's absurd that they have customer service about rape and other scams from users that they don't actually have anyway. And then they do this to you where they lock you out and continue to charge you without any way to get out of the account.

EHarmony is a "SCAM"!
August 4, 2022

There's only a handful of women available and when you write to them all they want to do is message for forever without ever meeting face to face, if you ask to meet them they hide and block your profile.

Here's the kicker, I thought it was by law that if your not happy with your purchase, we are allowed to request for a refund.

EHarmony not only does not offer refund's, they'll rip you off by charging you for the term you signed up for, I signed up for the year plan which seemed cheapest at $200 for the first year, they don't offer the monthly, so like my situation, I requested them to delete my account and requested for a refund only after 3 days feeling like I got scammed by their advertising, they're saying I will still get charged for the rest of the year, I was charged for the 1st payment 25%, I requested for a refund and deletion of my profile, I deleted the auto pay option, I am not happy with their service and I refuse to pay.

Don't get scammed by eHarmony!
I would really like to see proof that there's actual people getting hitched every 14 seconds using their platform, it certainly wasn't in my case.

EHarmony states you can review the site for free for 7 days. This is a lie! They asked for your credit card information and immediately charge you for whatever tier it is. EHarmony is about $250 for 6 months I believe at this time. The algorithm that they're stating is a scam. You don't get to actually meet or even talk to anyone in the chat. No one ever responds and it's like they're fake profiles. How do you be on a dating website and get no responses. The majority of the men are not even attractive. So I definitely recommend for all women to stay away from this site eharmony is a liar and they don't offer what they say they offer. Their scammers just like the other dating sites. It's a shame that there is not that many good people in the world today and everyone is capitalizing off someone else. I've been on the site for over 3 months and have yet to meet or chat with anyone that is real. It just doesn't make sense not at all. It's fake eHarmony should be shame because their name is tarnished fake. Note if you sign up for any of their subscriptions make sure you immediately go and unsubscribe so they won't keep charging you after 6 months. They may say it's just for one month or whatever and then you'll look up and find yourself with another fraudulent scamming subscription with no refund. Make sure you go and unsubscribe to them so you won't get an automatic renewal that you cannot get a refund on. They will be scamming you non-refundable.

I signed up for a year of their service yet continued to be charged after the year was up even though I had unsubscribed only months after initially subscribing. This also happened to someone else I know and I thought it was a mistake on there part such that they forgot to uncheck some box in the settings. However, I am sure that I changed all my account setting to being unsubscribed and am now in the same situation.

I contacted eHarmony about this issue and received the same reply that my friend had. They said that they'd make a "special exception" and cancel future payments but they wouldn't refund what had already been charged. I'm referring to what they charged BEYOND the initial subscription I signed up for. When I asked them why I continued to be charged after cancelling my subscription, they said that they have an AUTOMATIC RENEWAL system in place. I saw no option to opt-out of this renewal when I unsubscribed last summer.

There may be details buried deep in their terms & services, thus protecting them legally, but it is also true that they have developed their settings to give users the false belief that they are unsubscribed when they are not. Then when confronted with the issue, they give a canned response and put the customer last. This was an intentional use of "fine print" to weasel more money out of their customers. I know a lot of companies do this but that doesn't mean it is right. We should all be fighting for a more just world and not contributing to the corruption.

I was refused a refund (hundreds of dollars) for services I didn't consent to, at least not knowingly. I also felt as if my concerns were belittled, ignored, and treated with contempt when they ended the email with "Your request has been denied. Thank you for your payment!" I want other users to be warned that subscribing to eHarmony will cost them more than initially agreed upon. If the service is worth that to you, that's fine. Otherwise, I don't think that eHarmony can be trusted to treat their customers with respect and care.

After reviewing eHarmony on the Better Business Bureau, I see that this is something that has happened to many others as well. I'd recommend that no one uses this site.

Do you like paying for a relationship before you even meet the person? If so, eHarmony might be right for you!

EHarmony is one of many online dating platforms that gives you a long list of questions that takes seven full years to answer and then sticks them into a software that uses its own 'algorithm' to match you with someone who is said to connect with you on an emotional and personal level.

EHarmony says that there is someone for everyone and that their website is in the top 5% for matching anyone. Oh, but they don't match anyone who isn't cisgender and is looking for someone else who isn't cisgender. So if you fall into that category, well, so sorry, no refunds!

While I do like cis sheilas to a degree, I was given a gift card of sorts to eHarmony before, and much like fist fighting a Kodiak bear to pass the time, I figured, 'Hey, what's the worst that could happen?"

Before I explain my results, allow me to say that I don't judge people on their looks as much as their sense of humor and intelligence. Besides, I'm facially challenged, so I don't expect to meet sheilas that look like Victoria's Secret models. That said, moving on...

The results I was given were people who lived nowhere near me, people I had zero in common with, people who made me long for the comfort of said Kodiak bear's claws, and a few sheilas looking for sugar daddy's. Seriously, people, I know I'm old, but I'm pretty sure those are sold at stores still, right?

Overall, I found that eHarmony was a waste of my time, and as with many webby's that attempt to hook you up with others, they fall victim to the same tasteless patterns as all other sights in the way that their algorithm is about as useful as braille on a stop sign on the autobahn.

I got to use the website for free, and I still felt ripped off!
