The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

Thank you to Joe, Emily, Erin, Kelly, and Steven from the Pittsburgh location. You made my sale easy and stress free. From beginning to end I was well informed. The staff was phenomenal. The photographers make the images come to life. So glad I found you
Bought three expensive items of jewelry. The photos were extremely misleading even though the descriptons were correct.
How they can get away with showing only a grossly enlarged pic of an item but never show you the actual size on a hand or arm. I just bought a bracelet again a very enlarged photo shows a beautiful gold bracelet which was meant for a child. Clearly not an adult's item. Be cautious. Hopefully, they will be more forthcoming and hones in their portrayal of items shipping fees and taxes are out of control.
Packing was awful. Lampshade all squashed. Shipping fees cost me more than the article! But I do love their stuff. But I would but never sell with them.
There customer service is the worse. Had them sell three item and when I got to.the warehouse, they told me I had to move my own furniture. You would do better to donate your items to Goodwill and get the tax right off. Total scam. Stay away.
In the past, EBTH would list at the top if the item was shipping from their warehouse in Blue Ash, OH, now it shows the local location, but the company did NOT notify users of this change. I just won a $3 item, and shipping was going to be $23. I called and explained this to the call taker, who was rude, then asked to speak to a supervisor named Kristen who was pleasant, but explained that I would be charged the $3 anyway and would have to forfeit the item. I have been buying from EBTH for over 2 years. I guess they do not value their customers in the least.
EBTH in Boston is easy, affordable, has great costumer service, and is very unique! I would definitely recommend Everything But The House to all my family and friends.
In the last 2 years I have found some amazing treasures on this site. And I mean one of a kind pieces. I've purchased many(200+) US old silver coins, pictures, sculptures, and incredible works of art. I wish they had more local sales (Dallas area). Makes buying the larger items, less of a hassle.
My only complaint with EBTH is, I burn too much time at work, on this site. Oh well, it's good to be the boss some times.
Anyone who reads this, quit bidding me up! :)
I inherited a house load of items and I have had 2 sales with EBTH. I was satisfied with both sales and the courteous sales staff. I am going to list again!
EBTH consistently has high quality items at affordable prices which is hard to come by in Boston. Big fan!
Won a small item $6.00 total bill $32.80, ridiculous will never look at another item on this site. Save your money for an auction site that is reasonable on shipping costs, they gave me an estimated amount which was $12.00 less.
The item I won, a small pottery vase, fairly priced at about $30, was 40 miles from my home, and I had elected to pick it up. They gave a narrow window of time to pick it up. On that day, it snowed, traffic was awful, and I realized I could not make it there and back in time to pick my daughter up from school. I called and asked if I could get it the next day, and they refused and said I could have it shipped. The shipping they quoted was over $50 for a trip across town. UPS does not charge anything remotely near that to ship across town. My only choice was to abandon the deal, they would not consider a refund, I paid for that lesson. Never again!
I will never recommend this site. They may offer interesting auction deals, but I just received my first item and it was a Lladro figurine that was poorly packaged and arrived in tiny pieces. It will take months to resolve. I am waiting for an item i won and paid for a month ago and it has not arrived. I checked the status only to see it has still not shipped. What worries me is that it is a set of antique china which will probably also arrive in pieces as well. Don't waste your time with anything that has to be shipped to you. Their firm has poor quality shipping standards and very slow customer service.
The EBTH local to Boston has AMAZING deals and the process is so intuitive and easy to use. I am on this site way too much. Incredible customer service, I have an amazing experience every time!
Frequent buyer from the Boston market and hands down my favorite place to find some awesome deals. So easy to use and the customer service is incredible! Keep it up EBTH!
Everything But The House was an outstanding company to work with in the midst of my recent move. They were responsive, attentive, and super friendly. Shouts out to the Boston location! I'll definitely be buying again.
I have bought 6-7 times and have not had any issues other than the HUGE cost of shipping. Until this one...
I bid on an item and paid for it.
I had to call twice because it never shipped.
Then I had to call twice because the UPS label just sat there.
Then I had to call because it was showing damaged.
Then I had to call again and I was promised I would be contacted with info on how bad the damage was and I was told I would be provided pictures and then at that point WE would decide if it was worth repackaging and sending back to me.
Only after i emailed did I get a response and yet even after i requested a supervisor to call me, they never did?
So now without my consent they "disposed of" an 1846 Engraving?
Save yourself the time energy and frustration and do not deal with this company. They got to big too fast and just don't care anymore
I BOUGHT 6 MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLE AIRPLANES IN BOXES TOY AND THEY SHIP IT TOO ME. Measured 10"x9""x2/12" this item cam in a 20X 24 box the item was standing up in the middle in 2 bundles of three there was 40' feet of shipping paper in the box the two bundles was wrap with one layer of tissue paper it cost almost 3 times the cost to ship this. I contacted them for a refun they said no. We buyers asume the shipping is the cheapest way not a way too make a bigger profit
Everyone that I worked with at Everything But The House was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and action-oriented. They took a potentially painful process and made it simple, quick and profitable for me. Their speed and professionalism really impressed me.
Purchase arrived broken just like so many other reviews have said. So unnecessary and terribly disheartening!
First Class operation - great help with pick up, better than described, bid with confidence. AAAAAAAA+++++++++++++
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
