The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

I could not be more pleased with the process, staff, and results. From engagement with the sales person to cleaning out the house, and watching the auction, and resulting in cash in the bank for my mom and a house ready to market. The EBTH team was friendly, professional, and keenly competent at their jobs. The few hiccups along the way were handled expertly by their customer service. I would not hesitate to use them again, and highly recommend them to anyone in need of assistance with dissolution of an estate.
I love my bed, but your website said delivery would be pre-arranged. That did not happen. While I was at work, I received a phone call from the delivery men at my house. They left my bed frame on my porch. What happened to pre-arranged delivery? I am not happy.
This site is a great way of finding unique items, it's easy to use and they do a great job with the photos and information/dimensions, etc. Unfortunately, their shipping charges are so high that whatever bargain you might get when bidding, the final cost once you add all fees (and specifically shipping) makes the total transaction a VERY EXPENSIVE final sale. It looks like these high charges are their way to make strong profits on sales that benefit only EBTH. Be careful when bidding, since often items that are still in production (and that you can buy new) or vintage items you can find in places like eBay or Etsy, and you can get them for a much better deal once you add all their charges. It's a shame this is how EBTH handles things. If I was the person selling through their site I will be worried that their exorbitant shipping charges actually keep the "hammer" price down, and in return giving the true owner of the lot a tiny profit while giving EBTH the opportunity to get most of the proceeds of the total, all-in sale. I used to buy lots until I realize I was not getting deals, just making huge shipping payments to EBTH.
What a poorly run business. I question whether it might be a scam. Ordered two paintings, just a few days apart. Despite paying for shipping and all charges being put on my credit card immediately, the items did not ship. Was told that it was necessary to wait for ten days before shipping because that was the time frame that had to be allotted for pickup of the order. Really? I paid for shipping so it was obvious that I wanted it shipped and had no intent of picking it up. Still did not appear to be shipped after the ten day waiting period. Many inquiries, all of them telling me that company rep was communicating with those who were responsible for packing and shipping. Was told they would do it quickly. Still no progress on shipping. Then told that folks responsible for packing/shipping remember taking care of it even though there was no online progress noted in shipping. Customer service rep continued to say she was communicating with the packers/shippers, but there was never any concrete information and of course no package arrived at my home. Meanwhile, I mentioned twice in my communications (email... I could not find a way to call EBTH) that there was no progress noted on my second purchase. She failed to even respond to this, I suspect because I did not specifically ask her to do so. When I called her on it and said that I would think a good customer service representative would pick up on my expressed concern for my second purchase, she apologized. The next communication on that issue resulted in being told that the second item was damaged so badly in packing that it could not be sent out. No one had, of course, bothered to tell me that when it happened. I am supposed to have my payments refunded on my credit card for both items. Will wait to see if that happens.
This is a better and great alternative to ebay.
The prices are great and the verity is alsome.
Everyone I have spoken to head had nothing but positive response
Finding unique items and being involved in the bidding is fun. I have a beautiful pair of earrings that I might never have found in a store. The only complaint is the shipping cost -- that seems inflated. When I ship and insure an item, it doesn't cost me nearly as much as ebth charges!
Have purchased many things from EBTH. Have been pleased with quality, packing, shipping speed. One broken item was quickly refunded.
I had no idea when I contacted EBTH the process of selling would be so effortless. The EBTH employees came in cataloged and box up my items and the sell was on. After the sale they returned for pick up and it was over. I had no idea it would be so easy and I was amazed at the amount of money the sale generated. I would defiantly use them again and recommend them to any one needing to downsize or sell an estate.
I have had a positive experience thus far. Items have always been as staged and described. Shipment and delivery have been prompt, with one recent exception concerning an item I won two weeks ago. I have no reason to doubt that said item will arrive soon. You can find items on EBTH that cannot be found anywhere else. Take a look and try it. I think you will like it.
I never received my 2 last orders that I paid for. I got refund in 50 days after I paid and they said they can not locate my item. 2 times in a row? Looks weird, isn't it? I read that other people complained they didn't get their items too. I don't believe that my items were lost or their employee steals somebody's orders from the warehouse. It's more likely that they borrow our money for free for couple of months and then inform us they can not find your item. They found the way to have free cash flow without selling anything. This company don't have good reputation and don't care about brand that they created. Acting like one-day company.
Someone stated on this site that extensions -- given when someone bids on an item after five minute mark -- are usual practices for other auction houses -- that is NOT TRUE! Moreover, it's complete BS that you must deal with them period.
Case in point, bid on an item@ $80 -- extension after extension after extension (you get the idea & understand that someone else was competing for the item) gets old real fast. Especially when my initial bid of $80 climbed to $251 -- that said, there should be some type of "extension" cut off. EBTH states this is done to give a fair chance to all bidders -- that's crap as well. This was between myself and another bidder.
When all is said and done, it is about money and who has the most and, more importantly, doesn't have a budget to deal with on a weekly basis. In other words, if you're a millionaire or have about $500,000 in the bank, $251 is no big deal.
So... the little people (such as myself) lose... EBTH wins because they take their profit off the top before giving the balance of the money to the individual(s) selling in the first place.
I'm done w/EBTH simply due to the fact that I am not in the upper echelon where money isn't an issue -- Have fun ya'll and don't let that "ya'll" fool you... born/raised Californian that transplanted to Georgia. I am just a realist and realized what EBTH really is.
What a great experience! The package came when it was supposed to and it was wrapped so nice and securely and the price was decent, the bidding experience was fun! Will definitely recommend you to all my friends and family! Thank You!
Great site to find treasures! Great items, carefully described, delightful shopping! Was not disappointed on my purchases! They were just as pictured and described! Loved getting beautiful treasures for my home!
I have never had such a horrendous dealing with a company as I have with EBTH. I purchased several similar items from the same sale. I checked that I could pick up the first couple of items for free from the warehouse. Later, some of the same type of items from the same sale had ridiculous shipping charges attached. I cannot even tell you the hell that followed. Some dishonest person(s) then changed it so that all of the items had hideous shipping charges. I would e-mail customer service with direct questions and I would never get a direct answer. I told them that I would never buy a $2 item with a $40 shipping charge when I can just pick it up. Anyone working for the customer service department should be ashamed of themselves as they lie, cheat and steal.
Unless you want to be ripped off... Please do not buy from EBTH! I have purchased from auction houses all over the world for 45 years and they have been these guys dont know what their doing, they are fraudulent and the most unprofessional. They have literally stolen over $5,000 from us. Again just like all of these other fine folks reviews here we were damaged through EBTH mishandling of our furniture items via there shipping procedures and There non policies & procedures set in place. Im not going to describe the entire situation because we are going to litigate due to the loss involved but suffice to say we have a lifetime of experience with auction houses and our experience with this company and there inexperienced management was atrocious. They should not be allowed to sell high end antiques. They certainly do not know how to properly handle them. They are negligent and buyers & sellers must be warned. They do a great job taking pictures & looking & sounding pretty but thats all they do well. I do not believe they are regulated by anyone but I am looking into that. I will circle back and update this post if I find new information.
I was not planning on buying anything but when I saw these Kachina dolls and they were so reasonable I decided to bid. Thinking that the person who had been bidding since opening would bid above me. But it STOPPED and I almost fainted. I am so impressed with what my bid got me. Three exquisite Kachina dolls for the price of what it would have cost for ONE at the Autry SW Museum in Los Angeles. Happy Day.
I've been an antique dealer for 35 years and I've discovered this site as a good reference for what is trending. I also enjoy purchasing.
Completely amazed with the service. The staff handled everything without a hitch. They got me top dollar for everything that I had to sell and everything sold!
EBTH stole close to 2000 from me. I cannot begin to tell you what an unethical dishonest business this is. They prey on the vulnerable. Some shipping company claimed they had a table to deliver I bought on their site. They charged me the day it was won and 8 weeks later I still had no table. They never actually came to my house or sent me anything. Then EBTH indiacted that the table was disposed of and I forfeited the 1000. Meanwhile I saw the same table back up for sale on their website. A second table never arrived 5 months later and says ready to ship and the third item which cost 1 dollar they charged me 488 bucks to ship around the block. Deal with e bay Rub y lane ETSY and reputable sites with fair and honest people Never ever use this site. I have never ever felt inclined to comp[lain or put a business out but there has to be something that they are doing which is illegal. If my goods were lost they should have been insured and i should have received all of my money back. I am going to do everything in my power to try to put them out of business and get them charged with grand larceny.
Do NOT do business with these con artists. They may obtain something at a reasonable price but then they gouge you on "shipping". I paid $40.00 for some ceramic urns and was charged $166.00 for "shipping." Ridiculous. I've done business for many years with E-bay sellers and not one single seller has charged such a ridiculous amount for shipping and that includes on ceramics purchased and shipped from Italy.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
