I have been a customer on and off for many years and their recent Holiday Subscription deal (50% off) was simply too good to pass up so I signed up for the 750 image/month subscription... excellent value! The website is intuitive and search engine yields excellent and relevant results. I would say that a good percentage of the photos found at the site are similar to comparable micro-stock sites (e.g. Shutterstock) but there are unique photos as well which will always have the Dreamstime feel and appeal to them. I am a stock photography buyer professional so it is critical to understand the terms and conditions of working with the images as well as understanding those of your subscription or credit purchase. Keep this in mind so as not to be surprised when charges you agreed to appear on your statement. You have the ability to manage your account using your profile and subscription tools and I would encourage any buyer to become familiar with these before making a purchase. Understand this is a business and micro-stock companies need to make a living to be smart about what you are buying. There are free image sites for those who would prefer not to deal with the transactional side of things but, again, remember you use a service, such as a stock photography site, for a reason... and that is not only to find a pretty picture but ALSO to license it. From that standpoint, Dreamstime offers a competitive product in this market and, although I cannot comment on customer service, which I have not used, it makes sense to educate yourself on what a stock photography business provides and what its terms and conditions are behind the service it provides relative to the fees you pay. Having purchased Getty Images priced fees in the past, I am very pleased with Dreamstime.
I started for a free trial of 5 images. They charged me $20 right away. I have been in contact with customer support and they are refusing to refund me. They won't answer their customer support phone line, and continuously refuse to refund me through email.
Their charges are ridiculous and their packages are even more pathetic. Once they lure you into signing up, it's a downward spiral hence, with random monthly charges even if you don't use any of their stock images. Complete rip off
I use both the free and paid for stock images from Dreamstime (depending on what I'm using them for) and I'm really pleased with the quality of the photos and the pricing. Being able to sort by pricing is helpful too, so I don't fall in love with an image over budget for my project. My one problem is that there aren't enough content tags for the searches on the images. I spend a lot longer than I like looking for images because I have to use the broadest terms possible to get any kind of selection to choose from. Still, I'm quite satisfied with the products. Payment is rather straight forward in my opinion, too. You must either buy credits ahead of downloading an image, or sign up for a monthly service. I prefer the credits as I don't buy enough images on a monthly basis to justify a subscription service.
Be careful when on this website. I was unaware I had purchased anything. As it happened I downloaded 1 image from a Google image search and it cost me 17pound, quite an exessive amount for 1 image. I contacted customer support and they refused to offer a refund.!
I sell photos with multiple agencies, and this is by far the worst website I've dealt with. Terrible customer service and they will find any reason to keep your money. I strongly recommend not to deal with them buying or selling photos.
Hello,
I am really satisfied with Dreamstime. It is a great possibility for contributors to sell illustrations, photographies, sounds and videos. I love it. The support for the contributors is great. Also I have bought some photographies from other contributors and this was always a very good experience. If there is a problem, the support reacts in a very short time. This is a great service, even there are thousands of contributors and customers. I can recommend Dreamstime for everyone. I am sorry, if there are mistakes in this review, but I am not a native-speaker.
I felt totally ripped off! When purchasing it said I could get multipal images for $20! But no not even one I had to purchase another 11 credits costing another $20 which after paying with PayPal I was actually charged $27 this happened both times costing $54 for one image! The image was great but I felt totally ripped off! Especially when told I would be charged $20 to then be charged $27 that's got to be illegal! And also when it says up to 15 images under the 11 credits but I really I needed 18 credits! Not happy! Your site is tricky and dishonest!
Look like thats the way they work! Sell you one image for $. 5 cents and then a month after you will get billed for $25 big BS
I find the site content varied and so far have always found what I needed.
The Prices are reasonable and I don't feel as if I have been mislead on what I get.
I was working on my high class 50th reunion. I downloaded 2 images and didn't use either of them. I'm not skilled at using purchased images and I'm sure that was the problem. Anyway, the notice about getting billed for a subscription to Dreamstime went into my scam folder. If I was supposed to have read that I needed to check my Scam folder, I forgot that as quickly as I read it. (It was my 50th high school reunion!) Anyway, I requested a refund and was told that I agreed to be billed for a monthly subscription ($25/month). Unless you are proficient at using sites like Dreamstime, stay away!
When you have to then pay to download any of the pictures. Highly misleading and just pisses people off. I see what you're trying to do with the whole foot in the door technique, we get them by saying it's free to create an account (technically true) but you miss the practical point when you say it's free! Would not recommend and you need to change your gimmicky marketing practice and stick to the substance of your product and being clear about what you're offering.
I find the image stock very varied and useful, fitting my purpose needs and desires. I find what I need when in need of both photo stock and vector images.
I use both paid and free content. Used to be a fan of credits, now I'm happier with subscriptions because they rollover any downloads I don't make. Every now and then I need more photos and then the prices matter.
I tried many agencies but Dreamstime is a secret gem. Free trial, free photos section, large selection, wonderful staff. Highly recommended, thanks guys!
Dreamstime is the perfect solution for my graphic needs. As a small business, I don't have an in-house graphics department so I can do what I need for my clients with the high quality images that I purchase through Dreamstime. They have a great selection and I can usually find what I need. I have had a couple of questions and their customer service has been very responsive.
Purchased 15 credits where it CLEARLY indicates you can download up to 15 pictures, and after download 1 picture my credits were GONE! Filing a dispute now...
Never registered with this company, found a charge of $108usd in my bank account without ever viewing their website once. No idea how that happened - i have had no other fraudulent charges on my account.
I think I joined back in 2009. I wasn't much of a photographer than but over the past 8 years I have learned so much through them and have well over 500 photos accepted and making money. Their app is also amazing! I love the noise it makes when a photo has sold. Keep up the good work!
Excellent choice of images, interface is well arranged and a pleasure to use. I appreciate the flexibility to change options throughout thear, and find the price overall good value for money. The occasional sales are nice too!
Great variety of images, easy to search and Download. The monthly fee is also very convenient for me, since I do not need a huge amount of images.
