Contributors watch out! This company still hasn't released my owed payment after months of requests. Despite providing all required documents when establishing the account, Depositphotos has refused to release the money unless they get a copy of my passport. Sending such personal info to a company based in Ukraine/Cyprus seems incredibly risky. Why do they need to collect such data?
It would be better to sell on any other stock photo website than this one.
DepositPhotos system is a scammer as their system make many unnecessary steps to un-subscribe instead of 1 step like other websites. This makes many customers got cheated and be charged every month. I myself have been charged for 3 months continuously for not using their website. They are really a scammer!
I am not a commercial customer at all. I occasionally need a high quality image for something. I bought their 10 photo package for $40. I used exactly 3 downloads. NOWHERE when I bought the package said I had a time limit to download the files. They bomb you daily with whatever they do so I guess I missed any notification that my time was about up and now just out of luck I guess. I would give them Zero stars if I could
This company lacks transparency regarding their costs and plans. Despite not having used the images, they send misleading emails claiming misuse. Their tactics seem designed to trick customers into upgrading their plans. I purchased a package of 80 images but chose not to use it due to unclear terms and conditions. When I requested a refund, the manager refused. With the rise of AI, this company is becoming obsolete and appears desperate for business, employing deceptive practices to pressure customers into unnecessary license upgrades. I strongly advise against buying images from this company.
Three years ago I used their service for 100 on demand downloads. I was a gem of a service. Fast forward to January 2022 and it's a complete bait and switch. There was nothing making me acknowledge that I was using the photos for "personal" use (what is personal use for someone?). A day later I get an upgrade demand. I have offered to remove the photos from my development site and requested a full refund. I doubt they'll honor that because soon after my invite to write a review, they rescinded the offer to link directly. I guess they know that a shakedown of more funds will result in a negative review.
Since I bought a plan 'on demand' Nov 12 2019 and was able to download only one picture I never returned. At the time I demanded but didn't receive refund. Completely misleading and fraudulent policy!
I made a mistake that could have cost me almost $100. Their customer service resolved the issue quickly and professionally. They have a great selection of photos and I like their interface. I'm happy to recommend them.
A rep reached out to inform me I can't use Depositphotos because I had a "commercial" site and only bloggers were allowed to use the individual license.
When I pointed out that there was a blog which is where all the images were applied they blocked my account.
So now they will not see my lousy $700 or so a year because I suspect it won't be too hard to find more images - you win.
They deleted my user name immediately
I looked at this organizations website, never signed up! They send repeated emails daily which I have "unsubscribed" to 3 times, which is ineffective.
I have written twice threatening lawsuit, with nor response.'
Anyone wishing to join my lawsuit, please contact me.
I bought a package and thought it was annual. I only bought one photo, and was charged an amount for that. Then I saw that they wanted to charge me monthly. I caught it in time, and they said I owed them money, since I got it at a discounted rate. Make sure that your credit card or whatever method you used to pay, DOES NOT accept reoccurring payments from this company. I ended up having to pay them more money just to get out of the plan. Stick to the other photo sites that are far cheaper, quality just as good, and do not do this to customers. Horrible experience. It was unethical and seems like a scam. Read everything super carefully. They are used to people assuming that they are like other sites, and take advantage of that. Don't assume anything with this company. They will nickel and dime you.
This is the first time I've used the site. I accidentally purchases a package of 3 photos and once I downloaded the 3 it wouldn't let me get more and I realized I had purchased a package of 3 rather than the package of 10. I immediately purchases the package of 10 and proceeded to download 4 more photos for a total of 7. I contacted them right away and let them know that I had made a mistake and needed the 10 package rather than the 3 and was told they could not void the package of 3. I have now paid nearly $100 for 7 photos for my website. I won't use this company again.
Their memberships are only good for 30 days, so on 31-day months, they close the account for 1 day until the next payment renews. It is maddening and inconvenient.
Both in terms of customer support and quality and quantity of images this site really stands out. While they are worth full price if you ever see their services on offer jump on that as fast as you can.
I absolutely love the user experience and quality of content on DepositPhotos. The monthly flexible plan is also great for customers like me that have different needs each month. Would definitely recommend.
I have seen nothing but bad reviews for Deposit Photo but I'm a bit surprised. Many people have commented on not being told they would automatically be put on auto renew but I received that notification from them and also from PayPal. I think it all comes down to reading what you're buying. If you read it's clearly there. I also did research and frankly I was hesitant to purchase but I know some designer who do use them with no problems so I gave it a shot. So far they've been very helpful with the one issue I had. And I also want to point out many reputable stock sites have this same auto-renew practice. Again, you just have to read the fine print.
THEY WILL ROB YOU. Just like they did me.
I signed up for a "free trial" and realized shortly after that I didn't want their tacky photos, even if they were free of charge for 7 days. I emailed customer support (since there are no methods or instructions on their site on how to cancel when you paid with credit card) and they said they would cancel it for me. Lies. They didn't. I was charged for a full month's subscription for a website I didn't even use!
I contacted them again explaining my situation and they essentially said "Boo-boo, tough luck. Here's a link to our refund policy that proves why you're wrong."
Save yourself the trouble and keep away from these thieves.
According to their own website, they have a 4.7 out of 5 in customer satisfaction based on over 700,00 reviews - this is laughable.
I was talking to one of their customer service representatives about pricing. Before I made my purchase I asked the representative to confirm their indemnification clause with me. I needed to be sure that the clip they were selling was legally theirs to sell. Suddenly, the conversation ended and I never heard back.
This is a Russian scam site. Nothing more. Do not buy from these frauds.
They are conducting illegal "auto renewals." I am contacting Department of Justice and FTC about their deceptive practices. Most of their art is really old leftovers from Europe. When I chatted with their customer service rep they had the stock response ready so fast that this is clearly an issue they deal with all the time. They could fix it in 10 minutes but choose not to in order to get their dirty profits.
Just had a conversation with Vita at Depositphotos. They continued to charge my business for the last three months, even though we keep calling and cancelling. When we told them in no uncertain terms and they even admitted that we had no downloads on those months. Vita refused to give us back money, credit, any documentation or any assistance once so ever. She said she is the only person we can speak with and that I had no access to speak to anyone in accounting/billing/financials/customer service etc. I'm calling my credit card company and disputing all charges. DO NOT USE THEM. I've learned my lesson. Pay a little more and go back to other reputable stock photo sites.
Let me start by saying I'm a web designer, therefore, I am super familiar with the licensing for photos. Not only did I have to send screenshot to the SENIOR manager to show how it's falsely advertised, but you can receive better services for far less at istock, shutterstock, etc. with just a standard licensing.
Although it specifically says in both the licensing terms and pricing sheet for "individual standard licensing" that use for web and online marketing pieces are permitted use, I was informed after purchasing that is not true. Again, nowhere is that advertised. It is literally stated in multiple places on the site that that use is totally permitted. Screenshots from both pages are attached to view.
Listen to the negative reviews. This is not only shady business but you can seek other stock image sites for hundreds of dollars less and use them with standard licensing as opposed to this site's spit standard licensing that makes no sense.
Answer: I chose them because other websites are too expensive for the amount you get. This is not an issue if this is being done in a commercial setting as cost is part of doing business. I on the other hand am a digital artist who creates non commercially and do not profit off my creations. I create for the sake of creating. I am able to get 30 downloads for $30 a month which for my purposes is perfect. For someone that just wants to create art non commercially then depositphotos offers the best value.
