If you order something, do not be surprised if they are suddenly OUT OF STOCK or DO NOT deliver it.
If you try to change your order, or pursue it vehemently, THEN they will tell that it is too late - that the order is out for delivery. THIS has occurred multiple times. NOT a coincidence.
Plants arrive in terrible condition, because they have been in the mail for an entire week. Almost nothing survives.
Customer service continues to be awful - and billing is off.
I have nothing at all positive to say about this company.

I ordered 10 Pampas Grass plants in August 2022. None of the plants survived and Direct Gardening refused a refund of my money. I suggest you shop a different website for your plants.
I would give 0 stars if I could! Ordered Purple fountain grass. Order came Dead and would not grow after it took 8 weeks to be delivered. Emailed cust service with no reply. Mailed backed receipt for a refund with no response. Only thing this company is good for is taking your money. They DO NOT HONOR Warranty.
My plants are dead! I spent a lot of money for dead plants. This is bull crap and I will not be ordering for them again. I ordered them back in may and i just received them today. The ones that show up on time still haven't done anything
My wife put in an order Fall of '21 for Spring shipment. Nothing shows up. She's calls them- "sorry, order was lost" She reorders. We are in the middle of July. She still has not received anything. Stay far away from this store and their empty promises
I purchased the giant Asian pear from this company for my NC home and a 3 in one pear for my sister in Africa 3 months ago, and once I received it (after a month and 2 weeks of waiting) It arrived COMPLETELY dead. Contacted customer service, and was told you can only receive a refund during the first month of purchase. I told them I didn't receive it until after a month and they said "not our problem it's the shipping company" and hung up. NEVER purchase from here. Scammers and rude.
I ordered five plants and while shipped promptly, it was not in their growing season. Plants were scragly but I managed to keep them alive through the winter. Unfortunately, they did not thrive and had to be discarded. I kept the required guarentee documents (original shipping package and labels) and mailed them back for replacements. Never heard back and phone contact is impossible. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I hadn't seen these reviews or I would have never ordered from them. I ordered carnation plants from them came in a plastic bag all bunched together and already mostly brown. I thought I'd still plant and give them a chance we'll they never grew. Don't buy from this place. If you want to receive really nice plants try Brecks my plants I ordered later from them were really nice.
I ordered red birds in a tree and never heard from them until more than a month later when I emailed them asking where my order was. All of a sudden, my credit card was charged, and sometime later, I received dried up, absolutely dead plants. It would have been funny if I hadn't paid them actual money. I contacted them immediately and was told to return them within 10 days in the original packaging and send them with a return receipt. I did EXACTLY what they told me to do, and I never heard from them until I yet again emailed them. I was pretty much told to f off.
If someone out there wants to start a class-action lawsuit, I'd be willing to go in on it.
I don't have proof of purchase because I never received an order verification. They probably do this on purpose. My credit card, however, was charged, and I have the USPS return receipt.
If you want to be parted from your money to receive nothing of value, then by all means order from them.
These folks are scammers. I received the bare root stock I ordered. One was a dead stick and one but on buds and then died. I sent back the original shipping label as directed and didn't hear anything from them for about 10 months. Then I get a $5 replacement certificate only good for merchandise. I get it day after day. I finally send them a copy of their guarantee. The I get an e-mail from from "Dutch Gardens" with a "case #" that says they are looking in to it. The next message says that they have made the hard decision to sell to Gardens Alive! With links to buy from them. Beware this business! Happy gardening.
We ordered 5 Corydalis Blue Line plants at $11.00 each. What we received was dirt. There was no sign of any plant material in any of these packages. I asked for a refund... but was told I could have merchandise credit or new plants. This company will take your money gladly but will not refund any. I will not purchase from them again. Buyer beware!
Scam, This company never sends purchased products. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. The sight should be closed IMHO.
I ordered multiple items and the delivery instructions said to deliver to the rental office. I went on vacation for a week and came home to my order on the porch with Texas fried plants
I sent them pictures of all the plants in and out of the packaging but you have to send them back the shipping label. By the time they responded I had thrown it away.

I brought 3 Giant Asian Pear from Direct Gardening
Last year, on there website it's said this Pear tree produced 3 pounds per fruit and they're self fruit. The tree doing good, but they have thorn and leaves are very small and the leaves color is purple and red. I messaged them but they never answer my question they just give an excuse. I'm thinking it was a Bradford pear. They're dishonest. Do not buy from this place
And they did not replace the plants that died.

Good: They keep their promises, and replaced the plants without issues. Plants are very reasonably priced. Compared $8 with $25 at other places.
Bad: Takes forever to get the plants. All shipping materials need to be kept in order to return the item. Returned shipping is on the buyer (cost me over $10 to return).
Ugly: The first shipment arrived dead, the replacement was alive but not that much better.
Conclusion: I am giving them 3 stars to account for the combination of dead plants (1 star) and returns (4 stars). Buy at your own risk. There are people with 5 stars experiences with this company, so it's like buying a lottery ticket. If you are patient and willing to take the chance...
They would not refund the shipment which took entirely too long to receive and stated that if you do not send the shipment back within 14 days no refund... thats bogus. The shipment took forever i tried to have a refund done thru my credit card and they disputed it and miraculously after the shipment took forever it finally arrived... all items did not grow and were dead. Again I requested a refund without any resolve. $#*!ty customer service, I mean customer service non-existent. Then I sent back the label as they require and requested immediated shipment or refund, I got a response I would have to wait until Spring of 2022. This is unacceptable behavior and unethical. I have filed a complaint withBBB and I expect to see the amount refunded in total or to go as far as I can to make sure that nobody ever uses their services again as its a big SCAM & RIPOFF!
I purchased begonia and geranium plugs at the beginning of the year - I was more than delighted with my purchased - a young lady called Hannah added to my overall positive experience -
The plugs were delivered as anticipated - they grew well - they provided a great show of colour from mid July to DAte. In fact I am preparing beds for spring and am having to dig up begonnias in full bloom. More than pleased with my purchases.
Will be ordering more for next year
Long delayed shipment ordered April 2020 that arrived end of July. Dead plants. I kept emailing to cancel my delivery as it was getting too hot for any plant to survive. No customer service. I paid for what survived and a pot I ordered. I contested payment with the credit card company because I didn't want to pay for dead plants and wrong items. I ordered a blue rose and it's white. I keep getting this letter from a Carol Tarbox threatening to take me to court as she wants me to pay a $80+ balance for their incompetency in sending me plants that were dying and had no chance of surviving the summer heat. This has been going on for a year now. I sent them all required shipping labels for the return. She refuses to give me a phone number to discuss this issue. From all the reviews I've read, BBB should close this company down. I am very frustrated as I have never dealt with a more dishonest and incompetent company like this who is still hounding me for payment for dead and wrong plants.
Answer: Yes it Is absolutely real. They are thieves. I just called my credit card company to do the dispute becoz they are not responsible for the dead plants they sent to me with all the charges including the shipping fee. This company has to be shut down for their dishonest business. I will fight for it and no more people will be mistreated and cheated.
