Be Cautious

Purchased Hello Kitty stuff from a seller. Turns out it was from Shein (no mention of brand or pics of tags) and she charged double what it costs there. Filed a complaint but didn't want to return the items since my kid was already wearing them. My negative review was removed and there were no consequences for the seller.

No one available at depop for comment. PayPal won't fight it because the seller insisted on "friends and family" option. Didn't realise that means you forfeit your right to compensation. I do now. Depop not interested. Why don't they warn buyers about this scam?

Stealing Money
August 4, 2022

I just sold an item and depop lowered the agreed to price saying they used their smart pricing. They lowered it below my costs. I actually lost money as then they took fees out and I have to pay shipping so now an item that cost me $10 just netted me $6 on and lost $4 on the sale versus making $3

Good Platform

I see the reviews and they seem a little intense. I've been very lucky where I have not had any issued both on the buyer and seller side. I love the community drawn to the app and have score so many goodies.

Got barca jersey that was real surprisingly but it reek put through the wash it all good but there needs to be a middleman system so they don't accidently sell some illegal stuff plus from what i herd a lot of fake get through so wouldn't recommend to anyone even ebay is better about this stuff if you want find something for the low don't go here go to a list of trusted EBAY sellers for the item you want i got lucky dont take the gamble

I'm a seller on Depop and I haven't had any issues. Potential buyers read descriptions and ask questions. We respond to each other in a timely matter. Everything is very easy to use! If you sell just regular goods like decor, low end fashion and accessories, you'll run into no problems. I don't trust any platforms selling high priced items or buying high end goods. The fee is only 10% compared to Poshmark which makes this more desirable to sell on. The platform is overall good but a little lacking:

1. There's no way to see my own shipping costs as a seller. I would have to edit the listing and its shipping info to see what option I've selected. Not very convenient as I can't remember every setting I put for shipping. Sometimes I offer free shipping to buyers but I can't tell unless I dig deeper.

2. Messaging platform should allow images. I send potential buyers images they request but it's in a Google drive link or something else. As a person myself, I feel safer if I know images are sent through the platform. If they're inappropriate, allow them to be reported. Sometimes, items get damaged and images for proof helps the case more. It also helps the buyer/seller communicate better.

3. Flat shipping rates are a little high but that's to be expected for Priority Mail and insurance up to $100.

4. Customer service is a bit lacking. Sometimes you have a seller or buyer emergency and they would take 2+ days to reply. When they do reply, it really stretches too much time and sometimes buyers can be impatient or mistrust you.

5. Depop referred me to file an insurance claim with USPS even though the label is provided by Depop. To me, that makes no sense. USPS has less incentive to help a regular customer as opposed to a partner company.

It's overall a good platform to sell on. I personally haven't ran into any issues with any buyers. The demographic is perfect for the clothes and accessories I sell. The platform is also much easier to list on, compared to eBay. I highly recommend it if you want to get rid of some stuff you have.

Hello as many of you guys know depop has a lot of cons within the app. I have sold on depop around a year, I so far have made 1,600 sales I built my credibility and what not but depop has tooken so much money I think they have been taking double the "fee" because I can sell something for 40 dollars and end up with 29? Also depop is dying and I'm afraid it's my only source of income their customer service is terrible they only side with the buyers I once shipped a girl a 50 dollar top they then said they "never" recived it even though it shows it was sent to San Francisco she made a huge scandal calling me a scammer like 80 people commented under my items "scammer" etc I sent the info to depop and PayPal they both sides with the buyer after that I got my account suspended 3 times for bfe even though hundreads of top sellers do so, if they don't like you they'll make sure to limit your exposure I got into 2 fights with these moderators who deleted my account for false pretenses they said they can't lift the ban until 10 days even after it was proven false, now my sales are $#*! I am thankful for depop since I made around 90k this year however they have horrible service..

The WORST shopping app. Full of scammer sellers. Depop offer no help when you are trying to get a refund due to a 'scammer seller' not actually ever sending your purchased item, instead they send you over to PayPal to deal with it, and that takes 30 days. Please go and use the many other professional shopping apps available. Depop is so unprofessionally ran, and I would avoid this useless company/app at all costs.

Very unprofessional

What a load of unprofessional idiots! Banned my account for 2 customers not receiving the items fair enough, then i prove the tracking numbers and everything was sent and signed, so i get told all will be reactivate in 48 hours, 6 days later nothing has happened and they are ignoring my messages. Quick enough to ban you yet takes days and days to get it back up an running... absolute joke

Worst support of any site I've ever sold on. They take forever to get back to you and then have the audacity to say passive aggressive remarks like "Making further reports or responding to the email before we have had a chance to reply WILL increase your wait time." And when you actually hear back from them its usually a generic response that they've obviously copy and pasted that doesn't help you at all. Throw the whole company in the trash.

Depop has my heart

I love Depop, however I do believe it is the user's responsibility to look for clues about scams. They are everywhere online. It's like in school when you learn what sources are reliable. Every time I've had a question, the employees reach out within 12 hours. They are so understanding and helpful. Thank you, Depop!

DO NOT USE THIS APP
April 25, 2017

Bought something from a seller in my same town a few weeks ago. Still have not received it and have not received responses from the seller or from Grace, the customer service lady who reached out to me when I signed up. The shop has many bad reviews with similar issues but depop doesn't seem concerned in the least.

This app is the worst. There are plenty of other places to buy vintage goods.

Steer clear from depop. Worst customer service in history. Nasty nasty people they hire. T was my only source of income as a single parent with depression and anxiety and they banned my account for having an old account I completely forgot existed 10 years ago

Will delete your account for no reason. Middleman service. The protection is PayPal not depop. Depop offer you nothing. Crappy version of ebay with the same fees. Scammer everywhere on the site aswell don't risk buying or selling from here because you will 100% regret it.

Horrible Customer Service

I purchased from a "Top Seller" that had perfect 5 star reviews. But my items ended up being from Aliexpress and not "vintage". Since I used PayPal they gave me a return quickly, but Depop has been less than helpful. I reported her account and sent Depop multiple emails... no response. No action. Nothing. So if you're browsing the web and wondering who I purchased from *******@milaa03. Don't buy from her. I've posted photo proof here.

I have used Depop for a several years, got all 5 stars reviews. And then they deleted my account. That's it... they don't care buyers or seller because i still have many orders ready to ship out but they won't let me contact them at least let them know i will send out the products to release their worried. This is very rude! To buy or sell here have no protection i strongly not recommend and very disappointed!

Shockingly bad

Terrible service! Ridiculous staff who have no sense of helping customers it's appalling. I tried to appeal the closing of my account and all I got was the same robotic answers each time. The service I have received has been disgraceful, I lost money as the closed my account while I was waiting on some items I Bought and didn't turn up/ needed a refund, how am I meant to stay in contact without an account. 0/10 stars. They also lied about previous emails to me and is just a huge scam. They make so much money out of it also ridiculous.

Depop are a bunch of scam artists and that is being kind. I think they visit Primary Schools and employ people with similar credentials and you are lucky to speak to somebody that has year 6. Sold a product, sent proof of postage and delivery, allowed the person to set up 2 cases and then took the money out of my account even though they sent me an email saying that I needed to do nothing further and all was in my favour. It is a disgraceful Company which is run incredibly badly. What is the point in selling your products and them then stealing you money. NONE

Really nice to see stuff like this when shopping for, I don't know, NOT PORN? Would like to thank another reviewer for posting about this already as it needs to be talked about. These kind of listings never get taken down wether reported or not. It's disgusting; not the porn, but the fact that not only are the rules and regulations of this app fraudulent and unenforced but people are subjected to this kind of stuff at random while clothes shopping who may have sensitivities. Oh, and let's talk about all of the young girls of unverified age who can't sell a piece of clothing without their nipples out. How old are they, Depop? Your app doesn't look edgy or relevant, it looks exploitative and corrupt.
