I was looking for what I believe to be THE best helmet on the market, there are many quality helmets available, however I was looking to spend good money for a product that will help save my life in a accident or unscheduled dismount while riding. Safety is paramount when riding in my humble opinion I always try to buy the best that I am able to afford when shopping. I decided to go with Arai, my second choice was Shoei, but I digress... as I was shopping no one seemed to have my size in stock, and I was getting very frustrated to say the least. Cycle Gear had not only the helmet I was looking for, but they had it in my size! It was a return, ten percent off to boot, yeah, so I pulled the trigger made the purchase. Within a couple of days it was at my door, the helmet fits perfectly and I am very happy with my purchase, I will certainly make future. Purchases with Cycle Gear.

One of the four items that Cyclegear listed as in stock turned out not to be available, and the rest of the order took an extra week to arrive, even though the site claimed it would ship within 2 to 3 days.
Pinlock was ordered on Saturday and supposed to deliver by Tuesday. Actually showed up on Friday, 2 days too late to use on the trip that I had bought it for.

I called prior to ordering online to ask specifially if the Firstgear heated jacket liners that I was ordering and in my cart were the kind that plugs into bike or by battery. I did not want it plugged into the bike. The representative looked them up and said they did not plug into bike. So I ordered. Received the order and found that they had the battery harness. Called back and found out they definitely plug in and you only offer the Gerbing vest that doesn't plug in. So now I have to return and I spent $20 additional to have products arrive in time for our bike trip. We didn't wear or take them with us and now I have to send everything back and order elsewhere. Thankfully, it was unusually warm last weekend in Michigan.

Answer: Your local dealership will almost inevitably be superior to CycleGear, in every respect. The reason for that is your local dealership will cease to exist if they don't offer their customers the service, support, and products that they are looking for. You might not find it on the shelf right then, but every dealership has the ability to order in what you want and they will price it fairly, because they know that you can go elsewhere. These internet retailers need to be put out of business, by us. All we have to do is shop locally.
Answer: There's nothing legit about the website. They have stores in many different cities around the US, but their customer service is almost as bad in-store, as it is from their corporate call center and internet department.
