A couple years of one on one games was good, no problems there. Then I discovered the multiplayer games with four players per game. Bully central. Every game had verbal abuse of some kind. The site should have an age restriction.
I reported two incidents of bullying and harsh language, but heard nothing about their response. After the second reporting, all my chat functions were shut down. I could no longer see what players were typing. That was their solution I guess: silence the ones who report abuse.
About as good as any other place. Just don't let your kids near it.
Very frustrating system. If you pay, then you will win...
If you pay, your time will NOT run out! So many computerized players, so many cheaters. Moreover when you try to review the profile of your opponent and finds him\her is not fair playing and have many negative comments, then you choose not to start playing, you will be punished as if you lost the game and of course lower your rating. Thanks anyway but your policy is very annoying!
The main drawback of this site is the complete lack of ability to handle lag. The result is that games are regularly lost simply because of a slow connection. Individuals on the site will continue clearly drawn or lost games in the hope that lag will affect their opponent. The fact that the site has not managed to program a time stamp on moves is a testament to the fact that they simply do not care about chess.
Despite claiming to be a free website with so many useful sources of tips, the actual game is terrible if you don't remove ads. Bullet and sometimes even blitz is a joke if you constantly lag from ad updates. It also becomes so hard to concentrate for other game modes when you have video ads along the side of the screen. I seriously would like to see this site cater more towards the avid chess player than money hungry ad companies.
Biggest is not always best. Many bugs and often not available. Hard to use interface. While I personally obviously have no proof, but it appears the website is being used for commercial gains by a lot of "players", so there are a lot of cheaters.
During 30 minutes game I was completely in winning position still declared my opponent as winner as 30 minute time was over during my move, pathetic rule.
Dear Adarsh. Sorry to hear that you are having trouble using our site. Could you please send us the url for the game to support@chess.com? We will be glad to help you. Thank you so much!
Time keeping is total bull$#*!, seconds are added at the end if games, piece if $#*! site. Fuken frustrating when eg 20sec is in hand and opponents flunctate back when they only have 3 seconds left... $#*!s
Chess.com will ban users for no reason and their appeal process is heavily stacked against the user creating an unfair system. The admins on the site suffer from some power trip and ban many users for no reason. Avoid like the plague!
You get muted for no reason. Even mentioning competitor sites can get you banned. Also the membership is a rip off.
These guys closed my account for NO REASON. I played advanced bullet chess for a few weeks and all of a sudden i cant login anymore. Banned with no questions asked!
And I couldnt even appeal my case.
Sorry guys you lose a great player.
This site allows players to abort if they don't like the rating of their opponent (too low or too high). This is completely unfair. Everyone HAS A RIGHT TO PLAY, regardless of their rating. Sometimes there are so few people playing that it will match whoever's available, and the higher rated player will keep aborting. So, the lower rated player isn't allowed to play. Rating means little anyway. What if they want the practice?
Watching is sometimes problematic but playing, when not a paid member, the site will load tons of third party software onto your computer while playing that your pieces freeze and you'll most often be forced to lose over and over again even if you are winning. It's the most frustrating site I ever went on. It becomes more of a challenge to win in spite of the site working against you than actual enjoyment of the game.
Go find a different site. This site is a joke. They want your money, plain and simple.
Overall, this is a great game and recommend to everyone. A few issues to watch out for, one if you abort more then once, your now in jeopardy of losing rank if you try and abort. This is unfair and ridicules, If I do not want to play someone I should have the right to abort with out losing rank points. Theses point are to show a player where you are in skill level, and helps support the competitive portion of the game bu, t if you lose points for not playing someone, these system becomes flawed and frustrating, and loses integrity. We work so hard to build up this ranking, only to lose points for reasons outside the purpose of the points. Chess.com find another way to punish good players that may not want to play everyone you put in front of us. It hurts nothing to abort, there are plenty of matches waiting for all. GET a clue and fix this.
The culture I downright rotten. There is an air of elitism and arrogance from even the most novice players. I had joined the server not necessarily as a dedicated one to play on. But more on a review/analysis basis of community's input. The thinking was simple; that I may improve very specific parts of my game by sharing it with the community. At no point did I expect that my review requests would be torn to shreds, and separate forum threads started just to insult my games and me personally... not worth the negativity.
I've seen plenty in the forums and could provide much explicit evidence as saved in text files. Reported numerous times to ic3 since it's so bad there.
With or without membership they offer a very professional website offering the game of chess and expert advice, training materials, and an opportunity to play live or play a move a day game.
I remember my match that I have 2 mins and my opponent have 1 min left i was happy cause I know i will win but then two moves later my time was 30 seconds and my opponents time was 1 min still stupid! I was soo angry be fair chess.com I thought you have a fair policy which is useless! F****
chess.com cheats and evan hacks and supports cheaters and hackers. chess.com will withdraws funds from your accounts with out your authority and knowing about it. I was blocking persons when i know cheating was involved but chess.con has removed the blocker so i couldnt block them, when i quite last night 8-5-21 my score was 2142 this morning when i got up my score was 2138 this means that chess.com took 4 points off my score this proves that chess.com does support cheaters and hackers chess.com has done this meany of times the hacker is still getting into my computers trying too get card info so he came stell money out of my account. I think this guy has a mental problem and is obsessed with me he just cant let go its like a itch he cant scratch. chess.com has been in court about these things im sure they have fun with that there are other reviews that talk about all of these things. There is at least one were a guy was kicked out for cheating he claims he didnt do it. My guess is that a cheater was cought red handed but chess.com didnt want to get ride of him so they blamed it on this guy and kick him out and kept the real cheater. This would not surprise me at all. The guy they blame it on was probably some they wated too get rid of anyway chess.com is all about money and dont really care about the players these people are just pawns that chess.com takes advantage of
If you give chess.com your card info watch your account like a hawk
this is my review rod kalman
Answer: Yes, there are lessons, tactics and videos to get your started, plus enough novice players to play against.
Answer: Hi! If you are creating challenges with human players, they should always be another person. However, if you suspect a player of playing similarly to a computer, please let us know their username at support@chess.com. We will submit a report on these players and our cheat detection team will analyze their games for potential use of outside assistance from computer engines. Chess.com invests a lot of staff, time, and resources into making sure that people cannot cheat and use outside help during games. We also encourage players to report opponents who they suspect of cheating, and we thoroughly investigate these individuals to make sure that they are playing according to the rules. To report players for potential cheating directly, please find a game with this opponent, and then click on their profile image icon or username, a drop down menu will appear with an exclamation point icon which is the option to "Report." You can also go to their profile page and then click the exclamation point icon below and to the right of their profile picture. These reports result in an automatic cheat analysis being done on the suspected player's games and are monitored by our staff. You can learn more about our cheat detection efforts here: https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-com-fair-play-and-cheat-detection. If you are ever again concerned about possible cheating, please let us know here or at support@chess.com. Please also feel free to send us any questions or suggestions that you may have. Thank you! -The Chess.com Team
