Used Changelly since a while to DCA.
Always swapped cryptos, never used FIAT or credit card.
Today for a swap around 100$ of BTC, they wanted KYC. And as i'm refusing a KYC for a crypto swap, they just keep my BTC and don't cancel the transaction...

Selective scammer for sure, they confiscated a small amount of bitcoin and blamed it on user error - stating ill be refunded in 20 days, stay away at all costs

In these cases, the crypto assets that user wants to exchange via Fixed exchange rate option will be refunded, if at all possible, less all applicable fees.

They wont refund me after taking my coins. I complied with their KYC but they said it wasn't good enough. So they will be keeping the coins.

Four Months ago
Four Months ago, I deposited 2K Matic from Matic Mainnet but changlly doesn't support Matic Mainnet. They support ERC20 Matic. I didn't know that made a transaction.
So now I am helplessly begging for my founds from Changlly for continues more then four months. Their funny replys, they don't support Matic Mainnet so they are unable to excess my funds, They will return it once they will start supporting Matic but not guaranteed.
There was not any notice or anything during my transactions that can prevent me from doing that transaction.
I did little research on Matic both networks and found that You can send or receive Matic from any Network and you won't loss a single penny, Changlly is special dictates its own rules on costumers. I am still waiting in the dark but no help at all from Changlly.

Stay away from Changelly because if you submit a transaction that requires KYC verification and you opt-out of the KYC process, they will not refund the crypto you sent them, and it will be forfeited to them.
I submitted an ALGO-to-XMR swap on March 24,2022 that triggered Changelly's KYC process. I told Changelly that I did not want to complete the KYC process and asked them to refund me my ALGO. They told me that they couldn't refund the ALGO because they had already swapped it into XMR, and that I would need to complete the KYC process for them to release the XMR. Since I had no intention of completing the KYC process, I presented an alternate solution to Changelly. I asked them to swap the XMR back into ALGO at the prevailing market rate and to send the ALGO less any fees to the initiating ALGO address. Their security team refused to do this, and said that I needed to complete the KYC process for a refund.
DO NOT USE CHANGELLY, especially if you do not intend to complete their KYC process as they will not refund your crypto.
Everyone's trying to get in on cryptocurrencies now, but this creates a fertile space for scams and even "official" company irresponsibility, poor service, and downright unethical conduct. I sent this company funds yesterday for the purchase of a currency not available on most of the other exchanges. I waited until the transfer was "confirmed" 6/6 times on blockcypher AND had logged 55 confirmations on the blockchain. My wallet has and still says the funds were sent. I've checked and checked again their address (which I copy and pasted) to which I sent the funds & it is the address (and exact amount) Changelly asked for the exchange. I nevertheless got a "failed transaction" message within minutes of my sending the funds to Changelly. I had to wait a day to hear back from them that my ticket has been sent on to their technical team for review. In the meantime, I've lost the use of my money that should be working for me. I will NEVER do business with this company again AND will be telling all my colleagues, friends, and family about how easy it is to lose your money with this unregulated exchange.
Many of us want to be out from under the absurdly controlling thumbs of the big banks, but NOT if it means these tiny companies can set up shop overnight with NO REGULATION and can make their own decisions about how--or IF--to address money loss problems.
