I just bought a KEF KC62 subwoofer from Car Toys online, and I'm happy about the purchase! They shipped it UPS 2nd Day Air – way faster than I expected. It arrived in perfect condition, brand new!

As a longtime customer of Cartoys, spanning over three decades, I am deeply disappointed by the recent decline in the quality of service and customer care at this establishment.

I relied on Cartoys for all my automotive needs for years without encountering any major issues. However, in the past few years, professionalism and accountability have significantly deteriorated.

My recent encounter with a store manager exemplifies this decline. Despite approaching the situation with a genuine desire to resolve a product issue, I was met with a shocking attitude that reeked of indifference and disregard for customer concerns. Evidently, the manager's priority was not customer satisfaction but personal convenience.

Furthermore, attempting to escalate the matter to the corporate office proved to be an exercise in frustration. The lack of accessibility to corporate representatives is alarming and indicative of a company that has veered off course from its commitment to customer support.

The absence of effective leadership and accountability within Cartoys is evident in the increasing number of unresolved customer complaints. The once reputable company appears to have lost sight of its core values and is now prioritizing short-term gains over long-term customer relationships.

In light of these concerning developments, I can no longer justify continuing my patronage of Cartoys. My decision to sever ties with this establishment after decades of loyalty is regrettable but necessary. I urge prospective customers to exercise caution when considering Cartoys for their automotive needs and to explore alternative options with a stronger commitment to customer satisfaction.

I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for Cartoys to reassess its priorities and recommit to the principles of integrity, accountability, and customer-centricity that once defined the company. Until then, I will explore alternative avenues for my automotive needs and advocate for greater consumer awareness of the challenges faced when dealing with Cartoys. As such, I will share my observations with others, including consumer advocates nationwide.

Car Toys frequently has sales and advertises Free Installation, then when you get your stereo and take it in for installation they want to charge you $1100 for the "Free" installation, claiming that free is only for a basic install and whatever you purchased (a Basic $249 stereo) requires lots of extra parts and work that isn't noted anywhere at all in anything you've received. What a rip off. This is how they make their money - cheep prices and gouge the customer with overpriced installation fees. I'll never shop with them again and I'll do everything in my power to let others know not to as well.

Rip off
September 2, 2023

Got a quote from them for free install with purchase. They guy told me 300 for my dash kit, another 300 for my whip that plugs into my harness. I did some research before calling and expected it to cost a few hundred, not 1500 just for install. I also had past issues with them so it was against my better judgement even getting a quote. They suck and as soon as I said that was too much he got super disrespectful. So they will never get my business again. I also found someone to do my install for 1k double din included

STAY AWAY from the Rockwall Texas location!
The so-called assistant manager Arthur has to be without a doubt the worst Customer Service oriented Manager I've ever encountered. Detail my truck.
March 13, 2023

I paid a little bit extra ($569.22) to clean and detail the inside of my 1500 chev truck. Vacuum, and clean the floor mats, and remove the stain from the seats, etc. They got one job and they rip me off.

GPS tracker couldn't disable starter
March 8, 2023

The whole point of GPS tracking is to disable your car and quickly recover it if stolen. This disable feature only works if it is properly connected. Spent a lot of money for it not to work properly. Contacted the manufacturer and they were able to confirm the system received the disable signal. Since the car was not disabled it is an installation issue. Part of the installation process is to confirm it works properly. This obviously was not done. Wonder how many others received a bill for something that doesn't work. Hopefully people test this function before finding out the hard way it was not connected properly.

Great diagnostics, solid quality install
August 25, 2022

I'm posting this on a couple review sites because many of the reviews are years old. They are certainly not reflective of the super diagnostic and install service I received (August 22,2022) from both the Salem store manager (Omar Tapia) and the installation manager (David Sabrowski). After taking my Subaru Outback to the local Salem Subaru dealer they assessed my dead Harmon-Kardon system (head end system with CD and Subaru navigation) as requiring a complete over $1800 parts and service replacement. I declined and drove to Car Toys where they diagnosed the problem as the Subaru factory amplifier --- not the complete audio/navigation system. Short story is they encouraged me to locate another Oregon Subaru dealer with a new factory amplifier part in stock (at several hundred dollars less than the Salem Subaru dealer), which I did --- for several hundred dollars savings for the amplifier part alone --- and then charged me an extremely reasonable charge for less than 30 minutes swap-out of the bad unit. My total savings over what the local Subaru dealer had quoted --- just over $1115. 00 in savings! So the diagnostic ability at Car Toys was far superior to what even the local Subaru dealer did --- and the Subaru dealer charged me more for their false diagnostic (that wasn't accurate) than Car Toys actually did for the actual swap-out and re-install.

Bad detail job
August 6, 2022

A couple weeks ago I had them detail my toyota tacoma. They didn't do a very good job. The job cost almost 400$ and the windshield was had streaks they didn't clean under the back seats and other places. They also just toss every item you leave into a bag with no regard. Wouldnt recommend them for a cleaning job

Worst customer service. Paid $600 down on a $1200 purchase of "free" install of radio and back up camera. They said parts would be in by end of week and 2 months later no install even scheduled. I tried to call multiple times and left multiple messages no response, would have to call multiple times to talk to human and then they told me they were waiting on different parts, no one gave the same story as to why install hadn't been scheduled. Had to go up there to get anything done. When showed up they said they were waiting on radio that I had already purchased and was on hold was given to another customer. Then found told them I wanted to purchase radio and camera and get install elsewhere and they wouldn't honor the free install price of radio cause I wasn't getting it installed there, which they have been unable to schedule since purchase 2months ago. Turns out their "free" install was costing me $600 in silly fees. I went elsewhere for install and it was $250 and they didn't need all the harnesses and misc fees that car toys was charging me for and they did it that day. I will never go there again!

I got robbed by car toys
November 26, 2021

About 2 months ago I had car toys install a radio/gps in my truck. I told them that I would be trading my truck in soon. They told me that they would swop the radio into my new truck for me. No mention of an additional $1300. 00, by the way I already paid $2000. 00 and it wasn't even the unit that I wanted.
There was a long delay in the installation. I will never, ever use or recommend Car Toys to my friends, family or my customers. I feel like I just got robbed.

Not recommend
November 24, 2021

I personally don't recommend this guy's in Northglenn, some time ago my wife takes her truck to this place to buy a remote starter with instalation and everything looks OK the guy's recommend her to purchase a guarantee just in case something gone wrong what she did, about a week later stop working she takes it back and they fix it right away then it fails again she takes it back last week and those guys say the control's don't work anymore and she needs to buy another sistem she has to pay $600 now the warranty she buy before don't cover it
Well she bring the truck yesterday with 3/4 tank of gas and after she get the truck it was completely empty she was supposed that the gage don't work but this morning she put gas on it and it takes 25 gallons of gas when the gage was on 3/4 before they installed the famous remote starter!

Screwed up my car
November 11, 2021

I would give them zero rating if I could. They tested the radio and pooled off the doors to check the wiring. The doors would not go back. It cost me 700 to fix. Buyer beware.

I needed a replacement for my old unit, and wanted a Digital Media Receiver. Hardly any were in stock locally that I could afford. The local car toys had a Pioneer that I liked, but it was not in stock and they couldn't get one. I went online and found the DMH 241EX for a reasonable price. I got it in 2 days and decided to install it myself. I bought a backup camera at my local O'Reily's. I wired up the harness to my Frontier's harness and then ran a wire from the handbrake switch wire and then routed the camera's supplied cable (and added an additional wire for camera power) between the unit's harness to the backup lights and the camera. I got ground from the bottom of the bed body.
Connecting and installing the camera required the most work, but it was well worth it.
I found that the Pioneer unit can find and play many more albums than my old Sony, and it supports Cover Artwork that is embedded in the MP3 files ID3Tags as long as you limit the dimensions to about 200x200 to 300x300. I used Mp3Tag (freeware) to import my folder. Jpg files and adjust the dimensions and them embed them into the ID3Tags. This software is great, because I can select all the songs in an album and do it in one pass.
I also found that this unit plays AVI and M4V files. It could not play my Avatar. M4v file, so I used Prism Video File Converter ($24.99) to convert it to AVI and it plays fine.
I love this Pioneer device.

Terrible Experience
October 5, 2021

Horrible experience. I brought our Jeep Rubicon in for a detail yesterday. I purposely did not go with the Groupon because even though it's advertised as a detail, it really isn't. They will state as such if you ask them. I agreed to pay almost $200 with tax for the interior detailing only. Waited 2 weeks for the appt.

Dropped the car off last night and the sales person walked out with me to look at the car. All good based on what we planned. At 10:30AM today, I get a call that it is going to be $75 more. $50 for pet hair and $25 for the size of my car. I think our small dog was in the trunk 2x over several years. Not sure where they even found dog hair. We have a Jeep Rubicon which is an average sized car. The guy who I spoke to was not helpful and couldn't understand why I was not happy about the situation. He was rude and said if I won't pay it to come and pick up the car. Would not acknowledge the bait and switch. I asked to speak to the manager as well. He said the manager would just back him up. I insisted, so thr manager did get on the phone and would not budge.

No one stated anything about possible extra charges when I dropped the car off. The manager stated, I should have had an installer look at the car and to think of this like you are getting repairs. How would I know that? Their employee walked out to the car, inspected it all and said it was an easy job because the car was just dusty and had rubber mats. The manager said things come up that you don't know of until you start work. Since their employee looked at the car and because I was not made aware of possible additional charges, that should have been on them. They would not budge, so we drove back and picked up the car. $200 for an interior detail is expensive as it is and then $275 is ridiculous. Then to throw the horrible customer service on top of that, I was very upset. We will never go back and will make sure and let others know. Waisted my husband and I leaving work to drop off the car and then go back to pick it up for nothing.
