Don't use this company - seriously - go pay the extra $50 and get a car from Hertz. This terrible company booked a car for me and then when I showed up at the airport and called the shuttle, they weren't available to get me for a couple of hours... what? We both agreed to cancel and I re-booked with carrentals.com for a car at Fox Car Rentals. I showed up at Fox and my reservation wasn't even in their system. I had to wait over an hour and when it finally showed up, they didn't have the car I was promised at carrentals.com. They charged me an extra $150 for an "upgrade" even though I was promised a lower price. Carrentals.com promised to investigate. I had to email every month to check in and they never did... they finally "escalated" it when I threatened a negative review after 3 months. But then they looked at the wrong reservation and denied my claim. All I wanted was the extra $150 I had paid for an upgrade I shouldn't have had to take. Avoid carrentals.com and Fox Rental Cars at all cost!
Regrets, boy do I ever. Decided to try this platform for the first and LAST time! I post both positive and negative reviews, so I'm not lopsided. Using CarRentals.Com was a huge mistake. I accepted the Thrifty Rental because it offered the vehicle I needed, because I've had 4x lumbar surgeries, so comfort and heated seats were a must and the price was just right. I arrived at BWI after suffering a 3 hour flight delay, only to be told there are NO CARS from 1 to 3 hours. Apparently this is daily. Ohh they tried to blame Hurricane Ian, but reviews written pre-date September 28,2022, so try something new. I waited for over an hour and when my number came up, this indignant punk wearing a Hertz shirt points and she leaves the area. I was given a Chain Smoker Crash Test Dummy's car, which gave me excruciating pain and migraines, by far the biggest POS I've ever driven. I questioned at check out and the young lady merely marks the paperwork with the vehicle damage and FUNK STUNK odor! I returned the car 2 days early, because I could no longer take it. The Thrifty (and it's catalyst CarRentals.com) should be put out of business. Readers, do yourselves a HUGE favor and read read read about anything and everything going forward, don't blind shop because others tell you it's quick, easy and less expensive. Thanks, I'll pay the extra dollar for a clean and comfortable vehicle, one like Enterprise has NEVER failed to provide me. Talk about bait & switch. I'll be filing a formal complaint citing bait & switch in my case, because it placed tremendous hardship on this disabled person; and they could have cared less. Had I not taken it, she states I go to the back of the line for having declined the vehicle during my turn. Unreal and disgraceful. If you ever have a need to rent a car in Baltimore, catch an Uber or a taxi and go to a facility off campus. They only had vending machines in the bathrooms and waiting area are filthy.
RUN from CarRentals.com! They make it quick and easy to take your money but will do nothing to help customers when needed. If 0 was an option for the review that is what they'd get. I rented a car online from CarRentals.com with unlimited mileage. When I went to Easirent the day of my trip to pick up the car they refused to rent the car to me because I was going out of state and would drive over their "daily mileage" of 150 miles per day. I told them I had a trip planned for that day and rented the car with unlimited mileage (and have the paperwork to prove it). They refused and said they could not refund my money because I rented from CarRentals and needed to go through them. I emailed CarRentals SEVERAL times and all I got was a piped email stating they were looking into my issue. I even provided my phone to call me and I received crickets. End result... NO REFUND, NO Car. I'm out not only the rental money but the purchase of extra insurance, over $240. Don't let them take your money like they took mine, RUN from this company. You'd be better off going to your local car rental dealership and dealing with them directly.
I rented a car and was given an extra 150 year euro fee when I picked up the car the car because it was a one way rental. Car rentals.com knew that it was a 1 way rental and did not inform me that there would be an additional charge. They are too busy selling supposedly low cost contracts to underrated and port performing car car rental companies and not bothering to inform the customer that there will be additional charges. They hide behind 5 pages of legaleze to do so. Stay away! Their car vendor said "Good luck" when the battery died and suggested I solve my own problems
Purchased collision upfront with carrentals.com. We decided to make a change on the reservation when we picked up our car. Change in driver but technically we used the same reservation details. First problem:
1) the entire purchase was in USD but this wasn't clear to me. My currency is CAD so when i was comparing prices online, I thought this quote was CAD. So in essence when converted, they weren't any cheaper than competitors in CAD currency. Second problem: 2) I was told by National that in order to change the driver, i need to buy their collision. I already paid for the collision on carrentals.com. National told me that I could not transfer my prepaid collision but i can get a refund from carrentals.com. Carrentals.com requested my rental agreement in order for them to give me a refund. Now they say they can't give a refund on collision because the rental already occurred. Carrentals says they can only give a refund BEFORE the reservation. Why would i pay for two collision fees before a rental occurs. This decision was made at the time of pick up.
I used rentalcars.com online from France in order to rent a car in the US. I paid 800 dollars weeks
In advance but was still told by Budget that I needed to pay a 250 dollar deposit to get the car. What
I learned is that the kind of deposits we pay in Europe on our credit cards are not the same as thise
In the US. Despite telling Budget simply to take the 250 as a fee which they refused to do nothing worked.
As I was going to lose all 800 I emailed rentalcars.com to ask for half my money back but they insisted
That I call instead. I had a US simcard in my phone that did not call the UK and my French card only works in Europe.
Consumer protection laws are weak in the UK where rentalcars.com is located. So I lost my 800 and
Never got the car. It cannot possibly be legal even in the UK to ignore email requests. No one from
Continental Europe should ever rent from rentalcars.com and should go directly through the car rentals
Companies or Turo. Fortunately my vacation was saved by Uber.
Customer service is not really service. All works well until you need something and then they tell you heaps of lies and manipulations to avoid any responsibility. Their service people probably got a special bonus because they managed to avoid refunding me for a rental I didn't even execute. Beware and don't be misled by the cheaper prices. It becomes very expensive when you need them.
BTW, I didn't even book directly with them - booking.com uses them as a sub-contractor and you will be stuck with their scam without even knowing it.
Tried to cancel my reservation and never get response. They just circulate your contact back and forth. They just want to steal your money.
I booked a car from car rentals to Zezgo They asked to purchase they insurance, even thought you already have your own insurance if refuse to do so they tell you to call for refund because they know you're not going to get any refund. And when you call car rentals they played with you until they tell you no and just like that they took your money.
My flight to Miami got delayed due to gate clearances. This added additional delay in baggage claim. Additional the car rental car had a pick up at airport which added additional 30 min delay. Overall I was 2:10 min late to my car pick up and this is at night 8:40. I am traveling alone with my son to Miami. This is fully paid reservation. When I search the pick up point they decline to give me the car as thier hold off time is2 hours and they have the receptionist over a system and I request her telling the flight got delayed and this is completely paid reservation. She declines and cuts the call. I am single mom stuck in the a place at night. I was stuck in a place alone eithout car. I had to go back to airport andake another reservation with another car company. And right car told they haven't recieved any money from car rentals. So I need to get refund from them. When I call car rentals they say they can't refund as I didn't pick the car within 2 hours. If I hadn't paid I can understand the cancelation of my booking. How can anyone penalize me for flight delay and the car company not handling the car which I booked and paid almost 20 days ago. Will never use car rentals or right car ever. Don't want to traumatized son ever for the situation they put us in.
Do not rent from them. If anything happens that prohibits you getting to the car rental place on time you are screwed. Our plane was two hours late arriving Friday night so we obviously missed the pickup date. They would not refund me the remaining 7 days of the rental. We had to pay another 500 for another car with Budget/avis who was actually open
I am the reason for my reaching out and because I have to cancel the car rental because I thought you're going to pick them up in the airport no arriving at Fort Lauderdale And then I realize I have to pick it up the car outside of the airport it was disappointed and I cancel the reservation I called the car company and I gotta request the be cancelled and they did cancel so I need to get her my deposit refund thank you very much
still my Deposit $500I understand you have canceled your booking with the vendor, but keep in mind that your booking was made through us and is subject to our terms and conditions.
After reading the terms and conditions of your rental, I found that this is a prepaid reservation, kindly notice that these terms and conditions detailed that this booking can not be modified, canceled, or refunded.
My husband rented a car thru your site from charlotte Nc pick up and the day we had to drop off the car the rental place was closed. I asked the rental workers will they be open and are they going to take us back to the airport, their response was yes. I really didn't appreciate the poor communication because of that I had to call for a uber and almost missed my flight because we didn't know what to do as far as the car. I look around and found a lock box for the rental place. The box was not visible to the human eye.
I reserved a full size car and was only offered a pickup or minivan. The vehicle was clean but not good quality. I originally had asked for insurance until I realized it was unnecessary, I tried to cancel at the pickup desk and they said I needed to call carrentals.com, which I did, they tried to tell me I had to call budget. As I was still at the budget desk I repeated and they kept trying to pass me back and forth. Finally the customer service rep on the phone said I would not be charged for the insurance. I asked for an extra day drop off at 5pm. She gave me drop of 12p which defeated the purpose as I was unable to make it. Ended up having to bring it in a day early because of their mistake. And, shocker, I was still charged the insurance. I've been in contact with customer service daily for the past 14 days in which they refuse to refund me my $50. I would not recommend to anyone. There customer service is terrible.
I made a mistake by booking day after i needed it; and they would not help me in any way. Last time i ever use this service
I would suggest not to book with this carrental
They dont help you at all even if you will contact them they will not listen to you and keep on speaking
I booked one reservation with them i was not able able to pick the car as my flight was delayed later car rental did not have car available i called mex car rental they have intiated the refund however carrentals.com not ready to refund my money back and agents are also so rude you will ask them something and they answer something else not helpful at all i want my money back
I second that, Don't use these folks, I returned a rental car 11 days early, this morning and spoke with a customer rep who spoke spanglish, no refunds and no pro rating, do your research and reviews before committing to a fly by night operation, like this one, scam
I booked a Ford Mustang sports car at Savannah Airport through this company which uses Thrifty. On collection we were given a 4 cylinder Jeep and told no other cars were available. It turns out they still charged me the same premium rate. On return we filled the car full but we were still invoiced for filling. I tried many times contacting Carrentals and Thrifty but never had a response other than that would look into it. In short, they effectively defrauded me of my money. Avoid them at all costs!
Car rental place refused to give me the car I had paid for, said that they were out of cars. Carrentals.com refused to refund the money I paid for the car even after saying they would. They are liars and thieves. Go elsewhere.
I believe these guys are Maltese mafia working from the UK. Don't give them your credit card details because they will make unauthorised debits. They are almost impossible to contact and when they do respond it is the usual "please provide more information" even though they have everything on file. Seriously hoping that the UK authorities will shut them down as a foreign criminal organisation.
Answer: Carrentals.com is a scam outfit. Never pay in advance. Read the fine print. I have been traveling and renting cars for 40 years and have never dealt with a more unprofessional or dishonest travel company.
Answer: Back in the days they were my favorite website, they were the best, I didn't use anything else. But not anymore, they just joined the scammers and become of of them.
Answer: Stupidity, because everything is so darn expensive in 2022 that it pushes unsuspecting victims over to the "promises promises" platforms, like CarRentals.com.
