Car I reserved didn't exist!

This was my first and last time utilizing CarRentals.com

I reserved a Tacoma Truck (or similar) from the Portland International Airport. When I arrived, imagine my surprise to find that there was no record that I had reserved it. Nobody answered the phone number they had listed (called 4 times) and instead received a generic message. I was unable to reach anybody from their corporate office. All I could do on their site was send an email. I received an auto-generated email that I would be "contacted within 24 to 72 hours". This occurred on a Monday. It's now Friday without hearing a peep.

Horrible, they are scammers, it's been 2 weeks and they still haven't returned my money for a car that they didn't want to rent me because I'm a Florida resident! I will continue to insist on the return of my money!

They charge you for a reservation that won't ever work. Worst exepriance ever.

The lady at the desk could'nt match their records. I had to rent somewhere else. They still charged my card so they had the right number.
They refuse to reimburse you no matter what. You couldn't take possesion of the car even if you showed up but it will be your fault!

Stay away from them you'll only loose money.

Car rental.com based in the UK is a criminal organisation that should not be allowed to operate. They withdrew money from my account and I got to my destination and there was no car for me. I will pursue these criminals.
They do not deserve a one star rating. This is $#*! that anyone should never rent a car from them.

WARNING: DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM CAR RENTAL.

Third party thief

I paid for my reservation just to be told I did not qualify for my rental and I also cannot receive a refund. Almost 400 dollars they are stealing from me and because they have no real customer service I cannot get anything resolved. They told me I should have read the policy which I did and no where did it say if the rental company say no I can't be refunded.

CarRentals Lanarca Airport. Do not rent!

Its cheap. But you get charged for scratches you haven't made. The video that was taken was so bad that you couldn't see whether there were scratches or not. The person at the office went directly to a low spot at the car and found a small scratch in the front left side. He knew exactly where to look. How many times has this person made money on this small scratch? A pure lie. I had to catch a plane and he knew. How many are ripped off by this so called car rent service? Stay away from CarRentels in Lanarca. Pick a civilized company and don't waste money. This is bad for business in Cypres. A country where my father served for UN to keep the peace. What a waste.

I prepaid for the car but by the time I was leaving the car rental I was charged $750 in fees. I was tired from the flight with four kids. In the end I was charged over $1000 for one week car rental. Customer service gives the run around. My rental should have been less than $300 for the week. Buyer beware. Next time I'll shop smarter.

I made a reservation online in error and called within 3 minutes to change/cancel. No success. They are inflexible and unreasonable. Do yourself a favor and make your car rental reservation directly with the rent-a-car company.

Worse service ever

I rented a car by the airport of Miami. 27th nw it was through carrental.com. When I went 10 people were there complaining. Only 1 person stayed. All left mad and horrible service. I called and they said that they did not offer the money back.

Making an online order, searching for cars, paying online, everything is fine. I can't say anything here, everything is set perfectly...
But my further experience in canceling the order crossed out all the advantages of this company... the company refused to return the money for the canceled order. Didn't listen to any arguments. She just unsubscribed from me as a customer, even though I agreed to cancel the order with the company that will provide me with a car
Carrentals.com is only an intermediary in the rental between the customer and the company that provides the cars. Maybe even unnecessary...
I do not recommend in any case not to contact this company... it is better to contact companies that rent cars directly.
Too bad I can't give less than one star...
Wouldn't recommend at all...

They booked me to pick up car at airport because it was the closet location to me. Upon arrival I was told that I needed a flight itinerary. I wasn't flying anywhere, this was never mentioned in any fine print. When i called for a refund, I called Dollar company and they refunded the money no questions asked, but then said since i went through third party (carrentals) that I would need to call them for the refund, but they did refund the money back to third party. I was told by car rentals that I cannot get a refund so they took $296 from me. I would never use this company again. The customer service sucks, they just repeat themselves and if you ask for a supervisor they say it takes 24 hours for a call back, but then only receive email, no phone call. Its a POS company if you ask me!

I made a booking, paid ahead of time and when I came to pick up the car, I was told I cannot get a car because I had no credit card. I had to pay extra money to find my way home. I tried emailing and using the chat options but it all fell on deaf ears. If only they could refund even if it's a portion of my money. Customer Rep said I can't be refunded because I chose to pay in advance! So, be careful when you choose to pay in advance for your rental; because you might end up in the same situation. This was such a sad experience and I still regret it.

Scammer company

I rented a car. When I arrived, there were no cars available. They sold me insurance on the car that was not valid in the country in which I rented a car from them. The insurance is what I require a refund from. To me, they appear to be a scammer company that essentially loans money from people by stating they rent cars but don't actually do so. They then hold those funds for up to a month or more and make it so difficult to get a refund that most people give up due to the low value. I was told the specialized team would take 5 days to read my ticket / 20 days to process the ticket / 21 days to issue a refund.

It's a scam, don't use

They app mix prepaid and free cancellation together, made it very easy to click through without warning you about and prepay amount and it is not cancellable. They charge you right away, refuse to refund you even when the rental company canceled the reservation. It is a scam. See emails from their customer support:
"I understand our vendor direct you to us since the reservation was canceled on their end, but kindly know since its reservation was created through our website we are the owners of the policy.

That's why I can not process a refund

I tried to find you a one-time exception for this restriction, however, I am afraid that it was rejected. "

No refunds if you get Covid

I booked and prepaid $480 for a Florida car at the airport. Two days before my reservation I tested positive for Covid and contacted car rentals.com to change my reservation dates. I was told I could not. When I explained my situation I was told they would contact Hertz the third party vendor supplying the car. My insurance stated I was entitled to a refund for illness. However they kept stating they would need some kind of special authorization code from Hertz. I tweeted Hertz and got an immediate response. All they would need to make the changes was for carrentals.com to contact them with internal paperwork. They even sent me a telephone number to pass to car rentals. Two days later I am still waiting to hear from them. Hertz tell me they have not heard from this company! I'm a senior citizen living on a tight budget and don't expect to get any satisfaction here. I will be contacting my state representative to get involved, this is highway robbery from a company under the Expedia umbrella and shameful - there is simply no reason not to have changed the reservation date or given me a credit. If this happens to you be sure to Tweet the information- the public needs to know about this rotten company.

NEVER AGAIN!

Did a simple car rental through them. They advised I needed to pay $30 car rental insurance upfront. Upon dropping car off Hertz said they had no "voucher" or anything saying insurance was paid in advance through them and so they also billed $53 for same car rental insurance. Hertz said no refund... Car Rental said no refund. Said they would call me back & didn't. Said a supvsr would call me but never did. Even after calling back multiple times. I was more than double billed for the same thing. NO MORE BUSINESS FOR EITHER ONE EVER! VERY VERY UNETHICAL BUSINESS DEALINGS.

Upon arriving at the rental site my quote was tripled. There was not an option to chose another rental service as the location was an off airport site & the shuttle bus driver decided to take a lunch break at 6pm after myself & 6 other people requested a refund after they showed their terrible policies (which were inconsistent with what was online)

Their customer service after the fact is terrible & is only interested in closing your case for their statistics with no resolution or apology that has not been copy and pasted.

Go elsewhere
