Bait and switch set up, it is not clear that it cost money to seek care until after going through the set up process. Be up font with costs if you want happy customers. The add on options after payment are obnoxious, really makes me wonder what Im paying for in the first place. The website is outdated, uploading a a photo is difficult. All in all it has not been a premium experience so far.

Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.

Hi Michael, All caregivers are required to complete an enhanced caregiver screening to include a background check called a CareCheck, which is based on the information the caregiver provides to us. It includes:
 
Social Security Number trace
National Sex Offender Public Website search
Multi-jurisdictional criminal database search
Federal and county criminal records search

I accidentally put in my old phone number, and when I tried to update my new one, it asked 3 questions about places I have never lived. I answered "none of the above" and it said I can't be verified.

Additionally, when I try to upload a photo there is no pop-up that lets me choose a file on my computer

Account setup was deceiving. It should have been made very clear that payment is non-refundable at the time of purchase. There is something very dishonest and unsettling about a company that would deliberately fail to disclose such important information. These tactics make me uncomfortable doing business with Care.com.

I'm a new user and had trouble getting the background check services paid for. This was my fault. Once I finally did get it I thought I was paying just for the background services but ended up also getting some other service that cost me an additional $120. I'm hoping that it's worth it but now that I'm trying to do a background check I'm finding it hard to figure out how to do because it just keeps giving me a button for upgrade.

Not clear what flows are for free users, easy to get sucked into paying for Premium

UPDATE:

This is an insulting response.

1) Account creation is free and there is a limited subset of features available, albeit with upcharges at every turn. This statement is a weak attempt at defending the platform.

2) The intention very clearly is to have you create an account for free, have you go through the tedium of setting up a search for care, and then sting you with the annual subscription fee. This is a classic pattern used by plenty of other services, but that doesn't excuse its scumminess.

Also, now that I've attempted to use more of it, the sheer amount of automated messages and gotcha upcharges under the guise of keeping your little ones safe are really irritating. What does this platform offer that an ordinary classifieds site doesn't, exactly?
