The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

New to this and am responding to job postings without a paid subscription and feeling frustrated and like I've wasted time and energy when my contact info is encrypted and communication with potential employers is nearly impossible. Exercise caution as the only person corresponding with me in this confusing triangle was a man pulling my heart strings about his wife dying of cancer and moving to the area with 2 small children and offering attractive hourly rates and hours and proceeding to say his circumstances required upfront pay advance to me from his employer and became obvious he was fishing for banking info. He researched real street addresses and claimed to work at a local company that really exists. Sheesh, I almost fell for it! The website is NOT user friendly and I couldn't figure out how to report this person and his advertisement is still active. At any rate, if I manage to connect with someone needing services without paying it might be worth all of the hassle but it's not looking hopeful and can only imagine how confusing this website must be to the elderly in need of assistance. Great concept, but horrible execution--worthless, time consuming fruitless experiment so far :/
They think you will pay $25.00+ per month to find a pet sitter! I paid the money, thought i found a pet sitter for one weekend. So spoke with her on phone, agreed on meeting date and time by text. So then stopped the 25/mo thing because it is outrageous ly expensive and I had paid it and thought i had a stop in sitter for my cat. Then the sitter was a no show, and now i have nothing for my money and they want another 35 dollars to speak to other sitters. Total rip off. AVOID.
Care.com can and will close your account for any reason. Even if you have years of experience using their site. One complaint from quitting, due to non payment and an overall uncomfortable working situation, and your account can be closed, which is exactly what happened to me. They will not investigate the complaint or ask any questions. They claim that they don't get involved between parties, but clearly do. They are unwilling to reconsider or offer to help make things right. I do not recommend this site, whether you're looking for a nanny or a nanny job. A complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau, still nothing was done. Make sure you have a notarized contract that stipulates everything from pay cycle to quitting expectations.
They advertise that you can pay for just one month to try their services, but in the "fine print" you have to physically downgrade your services or they keep charging your credit card. Then, they refuse to reimburse you... you feel tricked as a result!
Glad I didn't put any money into this! I have had a account for over a year. I'm on their as a housekeeper and actively looking for work. All the jobs I find are a joke, someone who wants to pay next to nothing for me to break my back and clean their house.
ON TOP OF THAT I get jobs sent to my email and via text message all the time. SPAM/FRAUD telling me they will pay me $400 a week and then some to come in and clean before they actually move into the house from another state. I fell partially for it once, when I emailed one of them back and they wanted ALL my information. I supply a brief summery online along with 2 referances. I also supply referances to my professional cleaning job that I worked at for 7 years. No need for additional info like what my exact home address is! She also asked for my yearly income! WHAT?!
I stopped at one. I don't care what the issue, I'm not giving out this information to some random person half way across the country who wants cleaning services and to "pay me I'm advance" until they actually move. Sketchy sketchy sketchy. The best part is, I got 3 more of these identical messages. Therefor leading me to beleive care.Com is a scam.
Also you can't list ur number or email in a message. And I have only had 1 response out of a the messages I have put on the site.
I was a care. Giver on Care.com, I was late for a assignment because the parent failed to tell me that her parking lot was being paved... after dealing with the parent who frequently changed schedules and short notice days... that I was flexible to deal with... I had a unfortunate experience of oversleeping... I apologized to the parent and she proceeded to write a review attacking my religious affiliation and beliefs... that has nothing to do with the job. There was no protection from care.com from this wacko...
I tried to start an account as a caregiver and the background check came up with incorrect information. Care.com gives you 90 days to clear it up, the company running the check was not helpful at all, it would take several months to be able to get them to clear the incorrect information. After 90 days, you are ineligible for a care.com account for life. My record is 100% clear, clear enough that the US government has given me security clearances.
I tried for six months to downgrade my account to basic and stop the continuous charges to my credit card. Six times I went through their process for downgrading an account and six times I was charged again. I finally disputed all charges through my credit card company, Care gave me a one month refund, ONE month. And when I called to demand a full refund based on email evidence that I downgraded my account they said "THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WE CAN DO WITH THIS ACCOUNT, WE ALREADY REFUNDED YOU ONE MONTH". That was after searching aimlessly on their site for a contact phone number and dozens of emails that went unanswered. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE/DOWNGRADE YOUR ACCOUNT, CONTACT THEM OR GET YOUR MONEY BACK. THEY STOLE OVER $200 FROM ME AND REFUSED TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE MISTAKE. SHAMEFUL.
Best way to get rid of them... call your CC company and have them put a block so that Care.com can no longer charge you. Don't ever bother with their system, it is a scam.
The response below is B. S. I was fully aware of their auto update policy. What their representative fails to disclose is that their system makes it impossible for you to stop the automatic monthly updates. Absolutely impossible, see the exact same response to dozens of complaints, we can't all be so stupid. Care.com is stealing and anyone impacted should contact the BBB.
Bottom line... like everyone else paid for one month of service (specifically says one month) continued to be billed. I hate companies like this! So frustrating! Stay away. Thank goodness I have American Express, they stand behind you as a customer and reversed the charges.
THIS COMPANY IS CRIMINAL! THEY STEAL FROM YOUR CC ACCOUNT EVEN AFTER CANCELLING YOUR MEMBERSHIP! CANCEL YOUR CC YOU HAVE ON ACCOUNT WITH THEM AFTER CANCELLING YOUR MEMBERSHIP OR THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU. AND GOOD LUCK CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE, YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO A HUMAN, AND IT IS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY ARE STEALING FROM YOU. REPORT ANY CHARGES TO YOUR BANK AS FRAUDULENT, IF NOT JUST TO GET IT ON RECORD THAT THIS COMPANY IS JUST THAT... FRAUDULENT! DO NOT USE CARE.COM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A SUCKER.
It is nearly impossible to cancel a membership with this site. I am still being charged two months after I cancelled. I ended up filing fraud charges with my bank and they are going to handle it now. I called them the day after a charge appeared on my statement and they said they had no record of my membership either by email, name, digits on credit card... blahblahblah. I had just logged in before I called them to see what is going on and the site said my membership was cancelled. While on the phone with customer service I logged out then tried to log back in again and no matter what email I gave them (I have two) it did not recognize me at all. I got locked out. Their billing department is "all automated so there is no one for you to talk to". She took my phone number and said I would get a call back today but I'm letting my bank handle it at this point. My time is too valuable to waste on these scammers. DO NOT SIGN UP OR YOU CAN'T GET RID OF THEM! I don't know about any of you, but I think $39 is pretty high to just throw away on a monthly basis.
Folks, please be cautious. I signed up for a one-month membership, and four months later, am still fighting charges that keep appearing on my credit card statement EVERY MONTH.
I have seen other comments like this from consumers. My suggestion is to pay via another method other than credit card. Or find a caregiver through another method altogether.
A year ago I upgraded our preschool's listing from the free listing to the premium listing for a monthly fee. We did get about two referrals a month, but not a single one of them was looking for 3-4 year-old preschool. All were looking for nannies or daycare for younger children. Since our first year is just about up I thought I would call them to see if they had any plans to separate the searching for preschool vs daycare, but as so many others have found out, there is no contact information on the website. Once I started looking around and saw so many recent negative reviews I realized that our preschool does not need to be associated with this type of business.
Care.com is making money on hard working people. Crashing the hopes of people finding a real job with false promises and deceptive advertising.
A man contacted me on the website and I wasn't really sure what his real name was as profile said one name, but he said in a message it was a different name. Another man gave me an address for an interview that was non-existent. Another couple I was meeting at Starbucks that never showed up. It seems that there is a lot of fraud or scammers on the website. These people try and obtain your resume before meeting you and then they don't call you back. I have also had an Ericka W. Who was going to hire me, but then changed her mind last minute. She also wanted me to care for her children for a really low wage for that amount of children. I felt like there was a lot of people playing games, trying to obtain my personal information, and a whole lot of wasted gas driving around to interviews. My account was terminated and they wouldn't give me the reason despite two stellar references on the website and I had been on the website for 3 years prior. I also stopped getting email notifications to my account a few months prior to the termination so I am not sure if it was Care.com or if it had been hacked and my account was sending out spam or something, but it would have been nice to know that or the reason why I was terminated. In the beginning they were great, but something negatively changed this year. Needless to say, it was embarrassing that my account was terminated.
Beware when putting your information on this site. You will become the target of fraudsters. My daughter was taken for $2,200 by a "Care.com client" who gave her a paycheck. We have yet to find a way to speak with an actual person about this situation yet.
I signed up for the premium membership in hopes of finding a nanny. Unfortunately, we had little luck and after a little over a month, I went to "downgrade" my membership to the free basic version. I then checked my credit card statement a few months later and realized they had been charging me the $49.99/mo for the last 4 months AFTER I had cancelled. I then tried to call and speak to someone and this was nearly impossible. They clearly have a purpose in their call system and it is solely to try their best NOT to speak to you. I finally got in touch with someone and they were of no help and refused to let me speak with their manager. I then called back again a few days later and had similar issues. They told me they would have a manager call me back and all I got was an email refusing to speak to me about my issue. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO ANYONE.
I was trying to pay for a one month subscription and it kept telling me the card was invalid. I knew it was a valid card and after several attempts I walked away for awhile. When I returned and re-entered my card information it had, unbeknownst to me, defaulted to the three month subscription. Low and behold it then accepted my card! Coincidence? I think not!
We signed up for ONE MONTH of service with these thieves. They have been charging us 42.22 for nine months! This is on a cc that we no longer us, so I never checked for any charges. 400.00 later... have been fighting with them for a month now. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
I signed up for a one month membership for 35$ and was charged automatically every month. I only used their service for one month. I realized after 3 month and canceled membership. Vey unhelpful customer service.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
I apologize you were unaware of our Auto Renewal Feature. We always place this information on our enrollment page so our members can be informed of this policy. We also allow our members to cancel their subscription by going into their Account & Settings or by contacting our Representatives who have no problem canceling for you. After the cancellation, you will always be sent a confirmation email so you know for sure that your account will no longer be billed. I apologize again for the negative experience but I hope this information proved helpful.
