My wife had set up an account as a nanny, a full account that is... Her story goes that she received multiple fraudulent text messages and e-mails. She replied to one, but then refrained to go further after talking about it to me. Well, subsequently, her account got hacked into (her password was really good, and not used elsewhere), she no longer had a premium account and her personal informations and descriptions had been changed. Afterwards, we tried to find a reliable phone number to contact them (eventually found one after a long search) but only to find that the representative was unreceptive to her complaint. We promptly cancelled her credit card, and made an official complaint to our bank about this website. The mere fact that scammers got access to her phone number and that her account got hacked tells me how low the security is on this website, unless scammers work for them...
Now, I invite you to look at the similarity in structure of the "good reviews" left about care.com on this website, and the similar responses given by the representatives. It's not genuine...
Keep away! KEEP AWAY!
Apparently care.com supports a "pet-sitting" service named "Save-A-Paws", run by Angela and Bob Fawcett. I paid an employee of Save-A-Paws $150 to walk my dogs twice a day for 5 days. However, the employee never walked them nor did she ever return my key. Angela texted me that she would return my money but never did.
The company Care.com states that they cannot help me since I am not a "listed member on the account". Hmmm. Perhaps in court they can explain to me what this means.
So frustrated. 3.5 years ago We (briefly) had a nanny whom my husband caught pulling the breast milk out of the microwave and then proceeded to LIE about microwaving the milk that was still hot in her hand, FROM THE MICROWAVE. Anyway, we fired her. First kid paranoia, didn't think we could trust her. Right gut feeling as she proceeded to tell care.com who knows what and when we went to find another nanny they freaking black balled us! Didn't call to see what happened. Nothing. Wishing I reported her and reviewed her. She is more sinister than just lying. Anyway, sucky policy and they were completely unhelpful when we called to talk about it with them...
Created an account, listed a job, and started negotiations with a potential nanny and they terminated my account and sent emails to everyone saying they terminated. We have no idea why they would terminate our account. Pretty frustrating. Wouldn't recommend this waste of time.
I had less than 24hrs to find a pet sitter as my usual one took ill & I was flying to East Coast When I met Elyce Larsen my instinct kicked in and I knew this woman was all that and more. I was right to trust her with my cat, my apt, my keys. She sent videos & photos of my cat everyday, she sat w/him extra time so he would nt feel my absence My cat was thoroughly loved while I was away, He fell in love w/Elyce, she couldn't be more caring, professional, intelligent and full of love. I would recommend her in a heartbeat for children or pets. Definitely a WINNER 5Stars+
I recieved an average of 5 scam inquiries to my phone via text message. The only message I got back from care was incomplete and when I went to email back the customer service person it bounced back although it said to respond that way. I tried to call but there is no way to find someone to talk to. They don't care about safety... they just send you to a generic link. The meantime creeps have my number and when I tried to take my number off my profile it wouldn't let me... since I couldn't ask anyone I quit the site. It's not worth the aggravation.
They are not upfront with their renewing policy and will not allow you to speak with a manager. They make money in a dishonest way at their customers expense
SIgned up for a 30 day trial membership. They switched me to a stndard membership without my knowledge. They say they are clear on sign-up conditions. They are not and they keep on billing.
It is even more difficult to cancel them. They are very clever on language that is ambiguous on their website.
You have to be very diligent in canceling; they will try to push you to accepting a lesser membership and not cancel your card.
This company is a fraud. The kept charging my credit card even though I never authorized it. I want to file criminal complaint against them. Anyone wants to join? Leo
I am experiencedin childcare and child development, and this is not a good website. First off, it's a scam. Read any other review on here, and my experience was the same (my "free" trial period was not free). Second, nannies have no protection. Nannies cannot review families. Many other services such as Über, and vacation rental websites allow both the customer to review the service or company, and the service/company to review the customer. I understand safety for the children is the most important thing but high school and college girls use this site. It is important for them to be just as safe as the little ones. Which brings me to my next point, no background checks are available for nannies and babysitters to review. I do not recommend care.com to anyone. I had to terminate my account because of harassment of a family I briefly worked for (the father in particular). If care.com cared about safely, they would not be taking our money and they would provide different ways for caregivers to feel safe using their site.
I was just about to sign up for premium service on Care.com, when I thought I should check reviews first. Wow! Overwhelming evidence that Care.com is not a good investment based on the number of disgruntled previous customers. I have an agency, and I need to hire caregivers throughout the year. Any suggestions on an alternative to Care.com?
We made the mistake of looking for a house cleaner on CCI Care.com. They charged us $78 and $78 each quarter thereafter. We complained to VISA in December. Then we called care.com on January 2nd. They said they would charge us again in March because that was the end of the billing cycle! They said they also would defend the charges they made to VISA.
This is not a legitimate company it's a SCAM.
I applied for a 1 month trail premium and last night i wake up and its been automatically taken out of my account. No warning, no notification, no nothing. My account is now overdrawn. I call there number but it is ALL automated no real person to get a hold of. Ive been scammed before by care.com. I do not use it any more and now they charged me again for another month subscription. I hate this website!
My wife signed up (free), posted an ad, then we quickly had 29 replies. Too good to be true? So I signed in and I'm an experienced tech guy. First sign of scam is that some of the profile pictures were very pretty girls, but others weren't. You can do reverse image searches (right click on an image using Chrome and "search google for image" and there are two tells -- pictures from other sites with different names, and profiles that use the same picture and exist multiple times. Needless to say, always search a site for scams before you proceed. This site is rife with them.
Many text messages that were scams - when I cancelled my subscription, all of a sudden, there were no new posts and no interest in my application. Beware of test messages and how much you are paying for this!
Care.com is a great way for babysitters and nannies to find families that will cater their schedules and visa versa. They have a system where you can contact families and individuals through their website, which protects against any possible scamming. They have settings to stop the automatic renewal of your premium account. I have found several jobs and the customer service is friendly. As long as you refrain from providing any personal information such as your phone number and email address, Care.com is a perfectly safe site that I find is very helpful. I highly recommend it.
We are so happy that you found the site helpful and a great resource! And we truly appreciate your recommendation! We wish you nothing but the best!
Beware... Care.com uses deceptive business practices. They have a automatic subscription process which automatically charges your credit card every period (3 months, in my case). Care.com does not provide any notification that your subscription is about to be renewed or that they have renewed it and have charged your credit card. I had not used the service for a year -- out of site, out of mind -- and racked up over $300 in charges. They would not refund my money, citing their terms of use and apologizing if I did not understand their automatic renewal policy. Not very caring, IMO. Stay away!
They lead you in do you think your posting a job and then they want money. DO NOT PAY.
Now I can't stop them sending emails time trying to get my bank details. I'm reporting this company to google
We allow our members to post a job with a free Basic Membership. This way they can see if there are qualified caregivers in their area before making a financial commitment. However, in order to contact any caregivers on the site, members do need to upgrade to a Premium Membership. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. In regards to the emails you are receiving, you can opt out through your account, or you can call us at (877) 227-3115 between the hours of 10am-6pm EST Monday through Friday, so we may assist you.
A friend uses this site to get nanny jobs and gas been successful. However, I signed up to get pet sitting jobs and only received 2 legit responses (neither panned out) but numerous text and email scam responses seeking my personal info. As I researched them I found that MANY people have received the same phishing attempts. What a waste of time. Fortunately I did not pay for a subscription.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
All of our subscriptions do automatically renew until cancelled. I apologize if you were unaware of this policy. You can call us at (877) 227-3115 between the hours of 10am-6pm EST Monday through Friday to speak with a representative.
