Good to let BBB know!

I was going to sign up as a petsitter, but was leary about the request for some of the personal information. I stopped so I could do further research. All these reviews are eye-opening, and I can see that I don't want to put myself in a position of having any further contact with them, or giving them any info. However, I also looked at the Better Business Bureau site, where they have an A- rating, despite numerous complaints. Based on what I've read I wouldn't be surprised if there are people putting in phony good reviews, so if you have had an issue I'd recommend letting the BB know too! It's terrible that a company can get away with this, particularly when it involves vulnerable kids and pets.

WATCH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

They are quite deceptive in the way they charge you. I enrolled in what I THOUGHT was a one month membership for $41, and used the service once to hire someone for a single event and never needed the services again.

I didn't notice they've continued to charge me every month for 6 additional months. When I contacted them when I discovered the error, they faulted ME for not understanding the fees but refunded me $41 from the $287 they collected.

The ANNUAL membership is only $148, so how do they ethically conduct business?

It's cheaper to do your own background check. Don't sign up here.

Say no to Care.com!

Very rarely do I rant in this forum, but I wanted to save anyone the dissatisfaction of what I have experienced with Care.com. I have been looking for a sitter for my son and was referred to them by a friend. Upon signing up, I inputted all my information, requirements, etc. After a week, I needed to revise a few points only to find that their site does not offer any revisions. I then went to the site to contact customer service only to find that their system is automated and that the only interaction with customers is through email. There is no personalization for their service on any level as well as a tremendous lack of compassion for customers and clients. OK. I'm done!

I was overcharged by care.com of one month after signing up for a one month free trial. I spoke to a representitve on the phone and she was very nice and even reimbursed me. I have had great contacts and jobs from the sight so was glad to see they helped me out with my concern. I made a suggestion to them and hopefully they take it because I feel they would benefit by my suggestion to send emails out to customers as a reminder their one month trial was expiring or even to send an email letting you know of the monthly payment going through. Keep in mind these payments are tax deductible. Good luck. I hope you all find some nice families to work with like I did.

NEVER give this company your email address, or any contact information.

I've unsubscribed at least 20 times, multiple email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, etc.

I've called, I've done live chats, I've talked to them via email, I've tried to do it myself...

Once Care.com has your contact information, THEY WILL NEVER STOP SPAMMING YOU. NEVER STOP SPAMMING YOU.

They will not stop spamming you... ever...

I've reported these people to the FTC, FCC, FBI - really anybody I could think of...

We can only hope Care.com one day is shut down, or goes out of business entirely. It's the only way they will stop emailing me...

THESE PEOPLE DONT CARE

FIRST OF ALL... I SPENT OVER A MONTH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THEIR SITE TO ACCEPT MY ADDRESS WHICH IT WOULD NOT. FINALLY ON THE ADVICE OF MY SISTER I TRIED USING HER ADDRESS. STILL DIDNT WANT TO ACCEPT THAT ADDRESS. THEN I REALIZE I HAVE TO USE THE MAIN SITE AND NOT THE MOBILE SITE TO SIGN UP! DO THEY TELL YOU THAT? OF COURSE NOT!

SO I FINALLY WRITE UP MY PROFILE. SPENT A LONG TIME DOING IT. THEN I WAKE UP THIS MORNING AND AM TOLD MY PROFILE WAS DENIED BY THEIR SYSTEM AND THEY REFUSE TO TELL ME WHY. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE CARE OUT OF THEIR NAME! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL!

It's just another opening for people to steal your identity, your money and bother you on a daily basis. I don't even give it a star. It's done nothing but let me down. Don't be naive with the relocating sob stories. Stop wasting our time and and make the damn website safe like you promise!

Waste of time!

Within a day I was sent 30 plus email from so called babysitters. I was just trying to learn about their site to see if they offered sitters for every now and then. Most of the people sending me their info, were wanting more of a nanny gig. Many of the people who emailed me made no sense in what they were saying. A very harassing website.

care.com is a total scam. I have never gotten one job from the site. I will not pay them. I don't think people ever receive my applications. This web site needs to be shut down. And their ads are totally stupid. I get nothing but phony texts from scammers. From other countries. G mail is the first clue. Plus someone gave me a phony bad revue. Stay as far away from this site. As they are just there to take your money

I signed up for a 1 month subscription and it automatically renewed. I am a single mom without alot of money and when they renewed my subscription it overdrafted my account :(. Just know that if you sign up for a "1 month" subscription it will continue to charge your account each month so it really is NOT a 1 month subscription!

This morning I received a text message from a lady wo claimed to behard of hearing So the text made sense. She said she had a son who she would like for me to care for as well as herself. She said she was moving to. My exact same town and she had furniture being delivered and needed me To be at her new house to receive It and tell them where to put it. The money was to be split up. I was to take my cut which was a large one at that and the rest was to go to the furniture company. She said. She was moving here in a week. I'd need to take care of her business situations until she got here. She said that after she moved here she would need my continued help around the house, with her son, and errand Running. It all. Sounded. Too good to be true so I reverse looked up the number which wasn't listed in her name. Then tried tracking her down... Nothing. It's like she doesnt exist. Then I got onto care. Company to review anything that was similar to. This and sure enough there are several. The only thing I'm afraid of is that she asked for my full name and complete address. THat is a very unsettling thing. She asked me if I had a bank account but she didn't ask for the account number she said it was to make sure the check she sends me ahead of time will go through no problem. This is a courtesy remark to please beware. Even the most legit websites can have scanners On Them.

I am a Registered Nurse who joined care.com last December. I had many part time jobs and a very impressive ad on their site. My reviews and references were outstanding. I found a wonderful position and put my listing on hold in August. At 9am on Thanksgiving morning, they send me a generic email stating that I have been "terminated". After countless emails and tweets, they have refused to give me any kind of explanation, and treated me as if I had just been arrested for child pornography or abuse. Do NOT waste your time or money with this company. I have been in the workforce for over 40 years, and have never been treated like this.

Do not hire * she poses as a nanny on places like care.com google, and various other Nanny sites. She is abusive and does not care for children in a appropriate manner. Care.com does not screen their nannys and this one is a terrible one. BEWARE!

I am a 26 year who was looking for baby sitting work. I soon got a text from a woman who said she was deaf and had a son who was in a wheelchair. She said I would be getting paid $25/hr and this sounded too good to be true. She said I would send some of my check to pay for her son's wheelchair which I thought was very odd. Then, I got a text from a different number claiming to be the same person and she said she wanted to "check up" on me. I was immediately alarmed and started researching scams on care.com. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PERSON! Luckily, I never met this person but if anyone similar contacts you DO NOT give them tour information!

Although I did not log in after the first month. Clearly I did not even know I was an active member past the first month but got billed for 4 months. I asked for a 3 month credit and was offered 1 month (current month credit) Auto renewals are deceptive despite what is disclaimed on order pages. I elected a "1 month subscription" and view an auto renewal beyond that as just a way to get more money out of any overwhelmed and unsuspecting caretaker of a sick or dying family member. Very underhanded business methods.

I am an 18 year old young lady who just moved out and in with my boyfriend, I'm very good with kids and decided to make a care.com profile, when I got a text message from a sing mother with two little boys that was from Delaware and hard of hearing, she said she would pay me an exceptional amount and i was get it soon, that brought up speculation, she also said that her son was in a wheel chair to due an accident that happened a couple months ago so the fee that was for the wheel chair would be included in my pay check and id send the rest the the private wheelchair seller, after digging and googling I found reviews for similar incidents. I gave my personal information to some random person wishing to scam me, because i trusted care.com that they were safe, obviously not, thank goodness I realized this before anything happened to me or my family.

I only can guess it is because i responded to a housekeeper applicant who said she wanted to "spread god's love" with a "we're not a good fit." when she replied that she would "pray for me to find a good person," i replied with "the religious talk is offensive and that is why we are not a good fit."

What the heck?

If this is not it, i'm clueless.

Note the difference in the feedback rating on their own site and here... IT'S BECAUSE THEIR OWN RATING IS MADE UP OF MEMBER-ONLY RATINGS. THEY REMOVE YOU FROM THE COMMUNITY IF YOU LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK

I've been on Care.com for a few years. I pay $20 a month to be listed as a featured caregiver. I'm a nurse and while I have gotten jobs from the web aite, it's like 1 job for 9 no jobs. Either people that are older can't navigate the site or there are fake accounts. I've gotten at least two a week that turn into a check cashing scam.
Recently I got an email saying I had new feedback/reviews. Someone I never worked for listed that I worked for her and was unprofessional. I contacted care to tell them she posted a job for a personal assistant, I'm not an assistant, I'm a nurse, so can you remove this. They refuse to, they only send me dumb form letters telling me I can respond to the feedback. When the reviews are only left by employers, how can a caregiver respond

Horrible Experience!

I was a member on care.com for one week - received a great response from job seekers, but our situation changed so we didn't end up hiring anyone.
When I cancelled my membership, I received an email confirmation explaining that my credit card would no longer be charged. However, three months go by and I am still being charged - despite their confirmation.
Total Scam. Agreed with all other reviews. Do NOT give this website your credit card information.
