They will continues to charge your credit card and if you call them then they will tell you they will review it and if you never used it then they will refund you, that is a lie and they never will never sign up for this site,
I am a college-age girl and this website seemed promising. I created an account and put my number and email on my profile. I got 13 identical texts consisting of couples "moving to my area," "deploying to the army," or my favorite, "seeking help for a friend." No one ever contacted me through the site. Not once.
I had enough of the scams texts and deleted my profile. I woke up two days later thinking, "It's sunny outside and it's a beautiful day today." I then get a call from a stranger. He says, "I'm going to rape you. Are you ready?" I did not leave my apartment for a few days. Care does not CARE about anyone's safety and it is impossible to contact anyone about this. They are still probably selling my information after deleting my profile which would explain the frequent scam texts! Do not sign up on here EVER.
Update 2/16: I was really having a great day! Then this crap again: http://imgur.com/a/xuAVg
I abhor this website.
I just wanted to let everyone know that this company is a scam just to get your credit card and charge you $44.00 dollars a month so be really careful and make sure you read all the fine print. They rip me off for over a $1000. 00 for not paying attention to my credit card statements. Just going on every site I can to let everyone know what a piece of crap company care.com is I really don't think I need you help with that since you company has a rating of 2 out of 5 stars Thanks Jeff Davis
I have a few friends who found great jobs through care.com! A while back I signed up & had no luck. I recently moved to Hawaii & I updated my profile, I figured living on a military post, people need babysitters & im qualified. I got a message from a "52 year old single father" who lost his wife in a bad car accident and his two year old son Noah had made it. BUT is stuck in a wheel chair. He explained that he's in Afghanistan now and he would be retiring from a higher up military position (which he explained) I made sure my husband was also reading the emails. When I searched his whole name, nothing came up. So I went along with it, he then proceeded to tell me that I'll be getting paid $30/hour MWF. But he then asked for all my personal info, my address, cell phone number, &&& best of all, MY BANK ACCOUNT NUMBERS. He claims he wanted to send me my first weeks pay plus some to get the house ready for them... My husband instantly told me to stop replying. I explained I did not have a bank account right now, and he kept pushing. So I just stopped replying overall. Everyone PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS.
I have a friend who worked with a lovely family through Care.com, so I thought I'd sign up. I've always been good with kids, and I do live a "poor college student" lifestyle.
I got a text from a woman Named Janet. Janet claimed to be deaf. She said she was moving to my area, and that her 7 year old daughter was the sole survivor of a car crash that killed her father and baby sister. Obviously I wanted to help. Then the offer came in. $25/hr. 18 hours a week. Too good to be true. That's when things got sketchy. She kept saying she was going to send me a check for $1,800 and that I was supposed to deposit the check and write out a money order for $1,750 and keep the rest. The money order was supposed to go towards a wheelchair. Why would this woman send a check that large to a complete stranger? Who hires a complete stranger to babysit their special needs child without so much as an interview? I decided that if the check ever arrived I was going to send it back. I got a job before "Janet" even "got the check in the mail," so I dodged a serious bullet.
Today I got a very similar text from care.com. This time from a women named Maria, also "deaf." Googled it and sure enough, this is a really common scam on the site. Just be careful. Use your head. Don't accept gigantic amounts of money from strangers online.
I have had an account as a babysitter for years now and haven't got one job through care.com although I have applied for MANY! I have a feeling that my applications aren't going through because, not to brag or anything, but I am probably more experienced than 95% of everyone else on this website. There isn't even any record of the jobs I have applied for. I also dislike when I upload a picture or change my profile they can deny the changes. Why is it an "inappropriate" picture if it is a nice picture of me and my niece? I don't understand who decides/ how they decide if something is inappropriate. Save your time. Your better posting an ad on Craigslist.
I paid for 3 months. They closed my job 3 weeks later and didn't tell me. The mobile site, which is the only site I am able to use due to not having a computer only a smart phone always shows my job are closed even when they are open. I couldn't find a phone number to call them anywhere on their site. I had to google it to find it. Then when I called the customer care representative told me they "close all jobs every 3 weeks." They "have to to keep it fresh." I told him there is a place I can go, (although it's really hard to find) where I can set the date, I want it to close and it gives you the options of a year or more down the road. Why would it give me that option if you're just going to close it in 3 weeks? He said well let me document what you have said and he went over everything and then told me he would reopen it. And I said ok now can you answer my question and he gave me that sigh of irritation. He asked me what my question was, this was the third round of this, I repeated my question being sure to articulate well and speak very clearly. He repeated his same spiel about how they close it every 3 weeks. Finally I said "Since you are unable to answer my question can I please speak to someone who can?" I got that sigh of irritation and he asked me for my phone number and my email address, which I had just given him twice and he had restated to me twice and supposedly documented during this conversation. He said he would have his supervisor give me a call in one to two days.
I have been on care.com for years. I have a special needs son and it is hard to find quality childcare for him. The mobile site is not very good at all and is very limiting... This has been an ongoing problem all along. Sometimes my job will post for a couple months but they always close it before they're to without letting me know. They have my phone number and they have my email.
Find another option for getting a caregiver. They have terrible customer service and the benefits of the caregiver search functions do NOT outweigh the pain of dealing with them.
Awful website. Leads to harassment from numerous fake people trying to scam you, the website itself continuously asks for you to buy this ridiculous package that is unneeded, they are just money hungry. It's a waste of time
Care.com is horrible. They post different price packages and then they continue to bill your credit card every month. Even if you sign up for one month, they still bill your card.
They billed my debit card for 4 months after I cancelled their service! When I called to complain they gave me a huge runaround saying that I had 2 accounts and just cancelled one! Said their billing depth would call me and they never did! Customer service workers in phillipines? Barely speak english! Scammers! Am posting on Facebook and calling BBB! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Granted, it was my own fault for not watching my bank statement but with HONEST companies you shouldn't have to worry!
I have used Care.com several times over the last several years and I finally found a great caregiver for my elderly mother, but I went through quite a bit of turmoil to find a legit caregiver on the site. I had caregivers that stole (I had one that stole every grocery she purchased for my mother), were emotionally abusive, and down-right criminals. The forum enforces a situation where it is hard to leave negative feedback based on your experiences with the caregivers since I didn't want anything to happen to my elderly mother who lives alone. I had someone thrown off the forum for causing us all types of problems (she was only employed for a week and then didn't come to work and refused to hand over my mother's house keys), subsequently costing us 7K for legal counsel. Of course this person is back on their forum using a slightly different name and I feel so sorry for her next victim. I interviewed someone recently who used a false name on the Care.com forum, she seemed so nice & pleasant only to find out she had been convicted of a couple counts of insurance fraud, identity theft, and prescription fraud. I have a great caregiver now, but I feel so sorry for the people that will encounter the caregivers we did on this forum and will likely suffer the same or possibly worse scenarios. Care.com could care less and really is only concerned with getting their membership fees and makes it hard to discontinue/end your membership. Just put in a search field care.com lawsuit and read the horror stories.
Yes, i would like to know why I keep getting text messages instead of messages on the site. The lady I work for says that she can not see my phone number listed on the site to contact me, so how are these people contacting me?
I believe someone who has worked for or still works for the site is selling our phone numbers. I am going to report them if they do not stop soon.
I got contacted by four people who all sent me fraudulent checks and I lost a afresh thousand dollars because of it. I feel really stupid for falling for these scams. These people target trusting people who just want to help others. Anybody who uses care.com please be careful and do not take any money from anyone until you have met them in person. Don't fall for these.
I kept getting come ons with pet sitting jobs in my area. So I bit. I never got one job from this service, in fact I never got one notice of a job. If I got a notice, it was from an already past date.
Then much to my surprise, I got billed for $45. What the heck, I didn't want to renew. I surely do not remember giving them permission to bill me and I never would have been willing to do that. I searched their web site for a contact of any sort, nothing. Finally found a number through the web page of the Better Business Bureau. I called and reach a nice person from the Philippines and she quickly agreed to give me my money back and cancel my "subscription". We shall see.
I just wanted to update, I was given a refund, fairly promptly. But that does not add a star in my opinion.
I signed up for care.com back in October and I have received about 10 scam text messages all saying the same thing: "Great Opportunity Housekeeper, Babysitter, Nanny, Assistance Part time Job get paid $300 weekly. I got your contact from care, if you are interested Kindly send me mail to my email at *******@gmail.com i will write you more details about the job. Asap. Thanks." This is my most recent one, which I received yesterday. I was so annoyed and pissed off that I responded and said this: "300$ a week is the classic thing u f***ing morons say. I hope u get f***ing arrested u rat". I can tell you now that every time you are offered 300$ for the week it is a SCAM! I almost fell for the first email I received, where an Elizabeth Law was somewhere in the Philippines and offered me that same amount. She sent me a check 2880$ to pay me and for me to pay her "rent" and asked me to deposit it into my account and then wire transfer it to a suspicious account with a middle eastern name. I made a complaint to care about that and about being contacted by another scammer but received no response from them. I am now cancelling my membership but taking no chances: I am going to cancel my card on file before they decide to play stupid and charge me again even though I cancelled. I am now hearing through this site that the charge is also an issue and thank you for the warning. If you are with care, cancel your membership right away. It has an incredible amount of flaws
Unless you are a mom who needs a job or a college graduate in the child care field, then don't expect more than a date night job. Everyone on this site is looking for someone with like 10 years of experience and a PhD. I have been on this site since 2012, and have applied for probably dozens of jobs and got nothing just because I am not a mother or a college graduate. No one would even meet me, just because of my age I would think. Just because I am only 18 does not mean I am not experienced!
Truly unbelievable... I canceled once and it didn't take. I canceled again and they stated they had no record of my original cancellation. So I canceled twice. Now, I just received my credit card statement and lo and behold, they have charged me yet again. What a nightmare! This is a truly heartless organization. Incredibly unethical.
I am Susie's Great Aunt I am 87 years old she has been taking care of me and my 101-year-old sister who has since passed we were in need of care, and Susie came to our rescue. She has helped us tremendously in our day-to-day needs, she is amazing and thoughtful, always on time with her beautiful smile I would highly recommend her as a loving care taker.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
