Our family loves Care.com. Not only have we gotten care for our child, but my wife even did some nannying part time via Care.com and the experience has been wonderful! When we had a billing issue (my fault) they quickly corrected it as well. We are so happy Care.com exists and hope to use it for years and years to come!

I have copied and re-posted this post, because I echo these thoughts exactly. It speaks perfectly to my experience as a parent. I wish I had looked at care.com reviews online prior to signing up and paying several years of fees to this company. I work in the business world and it is not difficult to see that Care.com is unethical and underhanded in their policies, and that they manipulate their site and image to be more positive than it is in reality. There are so many negative reviews posted all over the internet regarding care.com, if I had seen those first I would never have used this site! And yet, after looking at the complaints online and the responses from customer service, care.com blatantly disregards complaints by consumers. It is disappointing to see the lack of customer service in a company that claims to be a trustworthy and valuable resource for finding reliable caregivers. People with whom you entrust your children, home, and elderly family members. It is especially frightening to see that there are numerous complaints from members that were removed from care.com site after posting a negative review about a caregiver. Care.com states in it's policy that they can close any member's account at any time for any (or no) reason, and that the member will not be informed why their account was closed. This obviously brings up the concern that care.com eliminates members that post honest (but negative) reviews because it looks bad for care.com to have many poorly rated caregivers. It would obviously make their company less attractive to consumers who have to wade through numerous caregivers to find one that is well rated by previous employees. It would also provide a poor impression of the site to new members who see a lot of bad reviews, thus being bad for care.com's business and retaining of customers. I would warn consumers to find another method of searching for caregivers.

Just Not Effective
February 28, 2016

I've lost count of the number of caregivers I've contacted through care.com. I've scheduled countless interviews and we're still without a nanny for our daughter. Simply put, most of the caregivers on care.com are flakes. It's currently 2:16 and yet again, the person we had scheduled to interview is not here (she should have been here at 2:00). Two out of the three people who confirmed they would come today have not shown up.

I'm very frustrated, to say the least. For $45/month care.com should be doing SOME screening of these people. Most of them are clearly not serious. I won't even get into how few of the applicants that applied to our job posting could write in a coherent way...

My husband and I used care.com when our twins were born, back in April 2015. We ended up opting to stay with our older daughter's daycare rather than seeking a nanny. After starting the daycare, our need for additional assistance ceased. I thought I'd downgraded my account, like I have many times before. Because I heard nothing from Care.com, it never occurred to me that we still had an active membership. And because we had no need, we never logged back into the account, until recently - when we began considering some part-time assistance again. I logged in, and noticed that I'd been charged recently! Went back and checked the old credit card statements, and realized that care.com has been charging our credit card every month without providing any kind of confirmation (receipt) of payment. After speaking with the customer care supervisor, Immanuel, my husband was advised that in fact, care.com's standard practice is not to provide the clients with a transaction receipt. It seems that the only way to know about the charges, is to go to the online account. To ask that of clients, parents who are looking for assistance at home and therefore probably have little free-time, seems like care.com's business practices, are almost taking advantage of human nature and their customer's situation(s). Be very careful using this site - when you have a billing issue like this - they will only credit you for the most recent payment and only refer to the Terms&Conditions, as if those are a set-in-stone set of regulations. Which we all know, they are not. Out-of-sight; Out-of-Mind credit card charges are a dangerous thing.

Billing Nightmare
February 23, 2016

Deceptive, unethical company with anything but customer service at the forefront of their "cares". You will be repeatedly billed for months even without receipts or knowledge of signing up for a subscription service.

Idk what's going on here!
February 23, 2016

I made a profile with care.com & didn't have to pay any money. I received two text messages with care opportunities. The first lady I emailed wanted to send me apartment keys and 400$ to go grocery shopping prior to her family arriving from Australia. The second lady claimed to be deaf and wanted to send me 2650$ prior to her moving to the area. A good indication that these are scams are people's eagerness to send you money and hire you to watch their children prior to even knowing you. Also, almost every company will continue to charge you if you don't cancel your subscription.

RIP OFF! DO NOT USE!
February 22, 2016

This company uses the name CARE.com and imply that their "caregivers" are good individuals to hire for various needs. In fact, NONE of their "caregivers" are prescreened. After being contacted by several housekeepers who responded to my ad, I performed a FREE criminal background check by going to my state court look up - FREE in every state - and found that every single one of the housekeepers who contacted me had either felony or drug convictions. Care.com is not a good resource and not safe. DO NOT USE!

The company charged me for months with out me knowing. They will do nothing about it. They did not have a care giver that was interested in only 15 hours per week. They did not "care" that they ripped me off at all. Please do not use care.com

I have been working with children of all ages for over 9 years. I have an associates along with going to school online for my Bachelors in Elementary Ed. I've worked previously as a nanny for two families, along with day cares, after school care programs, summer camps, etc. CPR certified & clean background. Needless to say, I have experience and a love of working with children!

With that said, I've payed two separate times on care.com to find employment, not once has Anything gone through. I understand it is not care.com's responsibility to make employers respond, but there should be a way that if the family is inactive on the site and I apply to it; there should be a notification to the job seeker so they aren't wasting their time. Or an "easy button" that the family can deny my application if they are not interested.

I listed my hours 6am-6pm Monday through Friday (wide range), I had employers contact me asking for two hours a week... Who can live off that? I was clearly looking for full time. I was literally only contacted once about a job I wanted (applied for) and that was a side dog sitting job. I still didn't get it, because they hired someone else when I returned their call in the morning. (less then 24hrs later)

My advice to nanny/child care employment seekers: I feel this site started as a great idea and they mean well to help in your job search, but it is really a waste of money and time. You are reeled in by all these "ideal jobs you'd be perfect for" but you'll spend endless time applying to jobs with no response.

I found a lot of customers who want to pay me about $10 per hour for services of cleaning. I felt very degraded because I ended up spending more gas, supplies and equipment while these so called customers want cheap labor and I am not immigrant. I was glad that I found one or two people that want to pay me for cleaning services a fair living wages.

I signed up to post an inquiry to find a dog sitter. I received several responses but learned that I have to pay a membership fee in order to communicate with the service providers. No way. I expect to pay some kind of fee if I book a provider (either visible fee or baked in the overall charge), but I certainly don't expect to pay a minimum fee of $47 just to do research and communicate w/ prospective providers. The founders of this site have done zero research in successful platforms. Good grief. Someone else is going to swoop in before not too long and take over the market.

It's concerning that many of the people on the receiving end of closed accounts are the regular parents who didn't voice a complaint while an aggressive caregiver can easily complain and have those same parents removed.

Terrible Customer Service
February 17, 2016

I signed up for a one month subscription- what a scam they continue to charge. Called up the customer service and they were useless. Waiting for the billing team to "evaluate" a refund and I am not holding my breath. Good luck trying to get a supervisor as well. Useless company that scams consumers. BEWARE

Too good to be true
February 16, 2016

I have been using care.com for the last 4-5 years. I have spent time and money on my profile and had built a great profile that helped me stay doing what I love, being a child caregiver. October 2015 I landed a fabulous job that I am still working and love. I was using care.com for a couple months before to find the right fit job. I believe in December I received an email from the care.com team shortly stating that my account had been terminated. But it didn't say why and at the time I didn't need to use it and was off availability for big positions. I just went to get on my account and look from some side babysitting and couldn't log on. I remembered the termination email and tried to make a new profile so I could start searchin for jobs, it wasn't allowing me to. So i emailed the care.com team and quickly got a response back. But for them to just tell me that my termination is final and they are not required to inform me of what I did to get treated like this. They gave me there terms list of reasons why you can be terminated. But the won't tell me what I even did. I am angry that I spent all this time in my profile and it's gone now. And I cannot use them to help me get a job. The only thing I can think of is that a past family that I worked for almost 2 months before I started the new job in october, I had to file a police report on the family for a serious situation. I met the mom through care.com and I just wonder if the wOman complained in some way against me and without looking into the situation they just terminated me.
Shame on you care.com

I joned and payed the fee to find a tutor for my daughter. I chose some tutors that i thought would be the best fit, after one week not one of them would reply! I cancelled my membership and asked for a refund the timbikto customer service rep told me that since i sent a email to the tutors i wasn't allowed to get a refund. Don't use this site ever. You get nothing and they only take your money. Doesn't even deserve one star

I hired a dog walker through care.com who ripped me off, was completely unprofessional, and stole a bike light off my dog's leash! He owes me money for not even coming to do the last walk! Care.com won't even provide me w/ his last name/info. (I have the basic acct) so now I have to hire a private investigator or pay a site to get his info. Before I could take him to small claims court! Do NOT use this company!

Fine Print
February 11, 2016

YOu think you are signing up for 3 months, but the subscription keeps going and charged to your credit card. It is in the ery fine print, and is grayed out so it is very hard to see. The start charging you even before your account is up correctly. They will not refund your money. I paid for $200 worth of nothing. This company is not there to help you. Whatever I senet in, it wasn't correct, not the right pictures, etc. I am a college graduate, follow instructions well and was totally frustrated by their website, not to mention their pat responses when I mentioned my problems, Many complaints about this company, shame on them.

Was involved in a scam
February 10, 2016

Hired a housekeeper from care.com. Not only did she steal thousands of dollars of things from my parents home, she also had methamphetamine drug pill bottles with different prescription names on them. She messed up my mother's medicines. Did not take care of her, ignored her. And never cleaned. Even after confronting hired help about missing items, not cleaning, etc. she denied them all. Fired after 3 weeks. Actually had to have the "housekeeper" arrested from my parents home. She was put in jail and later found out she was a fraud. She had scammed many other families before mine. DO NOT TRUST care.com! Now I can not get a phone number to discus this issue with care.com. They are still charging me and I am very upset.
