Even if I signed on for only one month, they will keep charging to my credit card w/o sending me any notice if I want to continue with their one month program or not. It's difficult to find out unless you read your monthly credit card bill very carefully. And there is nowhere on care.com website, you can find any place to stop billing me. It's very unprofessional. Be careful
Complicated to get started. Costs a lot, and poor results. Just a website money maker that does not do what it promises. Pay more, pay more, get a background check, all a waste of time. Putting an ad in the newspaper or a sign in the yard would be more effective. DONT SIGN UP!
I cancelled my subscription back in July. Several months later I noticed that I was still being billed. I tried to log in and none of my email addresses were recognized in the recover your email screen. I then reached out to the *******@care.com. They emailed me back without verifying who I was other than the name I gave them that they would credit back the last month and change the subscription to basic (which has no charges). I thought that was strange and then even stranger was that they included someone else's email on the reply. I then verified that the last month was credit back to my credit card. Then I got concerned. After 8 emails of no help I found a phone number *******115. They were able to tell me that all my information was under an email that was not mine. They said they deleted the account, but boy am I worried that some other person had access to my address, billing info, etc and care.com seemed to not really care at all... go figure.
I've paid two yearly memberships and in that timeframe. I've learned ALOT about care.com and using it.
I would suggest Craigslist over this service.
The people that are on this website are a lot of people that aren't willing to work (people on welfare, or people who can't actually get a job in their field) but demand a lot in terms of pay.
I have hired people that have tried to solicit my husband for sex.
Stolen things from me and broken very expensive clothing, household furniture, dishes, dryer, and other things that have totaled in over 10,000, including repairs.
A lot of the people on these websites are smoking weed, popping pills, or doing other serious hardcore drugs. I have video recordings of people that haven't feed my children but left them to fend on their own, even not changing my youngest diapers and leaving her to sit in filth.
Drinking the alcohol from our bar and being drunk while working for us...
This is by far the WORST website with the WORST PEOPLE on it.
I would advise all PEOPLE to stay away from this to save their children.
It doesn't matter how many background checks that get done or how many safe driving records are available these people are irresponsible people or else they would have a job. Trust me I've done all the checks and even drug tests only to find them "using" afterwards.
To people threatening to sue me because of their inadequacy.
My household catergory would be in the financial range of upper wealthy middle class.
I can not say enough, do the right thing and put your children in a better environment then someone you would find on care.com.
I'm just lucky that my children even though were neglected and not taken care of were not sexually abused.
I've learned my lesson, I hope my story helps others so they don't put their children or themselves in a comprising situation.
Care.com is very friendly for the families who are looking for/paying to find a caregiver. However, they do not care about the caregivers who are looking for jobs. They let families write whatever they want about a care giver and it automatically is loaded to the caregivers profile. Caregivers can respond to a negative review, but it takes 48 hours to post. Also if the negative review is completely false because a family was upset you chose to work for another family over them, care.com will do nothing about it and doesn't care. I would not recommended using care.com unless you're a family looking for a caregiver because they will be nice to you,
I thought I was paying for a 3 month subscription back in 2015. The card I used to pay for the subscription is one I never use, but have been trying to pay down. It was at least a year later that I realized Care.com has been billing me every 3 months. It's a consumer scam of the highest order. Care.com needs to be investigated and a class action lawsuit should be brought. Let me if your are interested in suing.
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for. Feel free to email us at careteam@care.com if you'd like us to review your account and see what we can do. Best wishes!
This is a fraudulent company. I can't believe they are still in business! And the owner should be ashamed of herself for getting on tv and making it seem like they really care. I have called and sent emails for my membership to be canceled and to no avail. I have completed the process online and I am still being charged. NO BODY comes to the phone! And the people they have are fake!
Terrible company. Stay far away! They steal your money, the whole thing is a joke. Customer service is ridiculous. All they do is apologize over and over like they "care" and don't do anything to make it right.
I had surgery and needed a temporary dog walker and found care. The person who came was obviously not a dog person as you could see how scared they were. I have a friendly but bigger dog. Needless to say it didn't work out and i notified Care the i no longer needed their services. My bad not checking my bank statement but over the past couple of years they have been collecting $35 from me and even though i don't use their service they are not going to give me a refund.
They took my money for a background check that I know beyond doubt should have come back clean. I never got the results and when I tried to login to my account a while later the account had been closed. When I emailed their staff about my issues they informed me that my background check failed (there's no way), that I had been emailed the results (I hadn't), and that because the issue was not resolved within 10 days from when I was never emailed my account was closed irreversibly. Terrible site. Terrible support team. Don't give them your money.
This is Bull crap when you try to cancel you account they down grade you. I tried so many times to cancel my account. I think I finally did it. If I am charged again I will be sending them a left from a lawyer. I will NEVER recommend this site to anyone.
Hired a nanny through this site for six weeks before going back to work. First day back at work, nanny steals from us. Noticed various things missing but thought we were being forgetful. Realized a large item was missing and upon checking our camera, saw the culprit putting the item into her bag to take home. Very disappointed that caregivers are not vetted more by this site. We did all the background checks, called references, interviewed, etc., after terminating this nanny, we interviewed another nanny and discovered that she was using her boyfriend as one of her references. Stay away from this website and best to rely on recommendations or referrals. While there may be some good caregivers on this site, there is definitely a number of shady ones as well.
Hum, so I apply and create a profile. I begin a search and they want money already? I'm I confused on something. Also since I created my profile yesterday, I have been bombarded with spam! What is going on?
I have requested 6 interviews in last 3 weeks & never got any response. Need my money back.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
So, I was looking for a babysitter close to the wife and I so we can do a date night once a week. I downloaded the app, posted a job offer, a few days in advance so i can meet the person first and go over some stuff, run of the mill. What care.com didn't tell me is, in order to see someones response I have to upgrade to a premium membership which is a $#*! ton of money.
Here is why they do this, they charge caregivers to apply to a job, so by not telling people posting jobs they need to upgrade to even see a caregivers response. You have a lot of posts by people who need caregivers, but when they get a response from a caregiver, they find out they need to pay to see the response. This is why there are so many job listings that go unanswered. Once they find out it costs money to see a potential babysitter, they drop the site totally like i did, and these poor people looking for jobs spend the $4 to respond to your ad, and you cant even respond back to them. This site is run by a bunch of disgusting human beings. How can you treat people who need work like that. They are taking advantage of people who are desperate and looking for work.
Just so everyone knows, the posts are not fake, people are looking for sitters, caregivers etc. we just cant respond back to you without paying for it, which I for one, will not.
My wife and I used Care.com in order to locate a housekeeper. They insited on getting our credit card information in order to use their services. Be aware that they will continue to use that credit card every month without letting you know. They have taken $300 of this veterans money. They do not return phone calls or respond to complaints. Stay Away
They want access to all my information and does not have any way to contact them (unless you write on facebook). I recommend you to advertise only in your community. In my state you need a license to take care of others, so what is the reason for them to do a "background check" online if the state already authorize you. All they want is access for third parties and other advertising that is not related to your service, also you are on a list for potential victims for scammers. Do your research locally, do not share informationof the ones you love.
I find they are a scam because they don't even have a contact email. They always pushed to put your credit card info on the account when it USED to be free. And now they are making you charge your credit card if you want to apply for a job that you will most likely not hear anything back! Come on really?! This site is supposed to find you income not take the money you don't have! I'm disgusted. They have new terms you have to agree with too and get background checks are what normal jobs want but this is not like a paycheck job. And guess how much extra you would be charged for these multiple checks on you? And it said some garbage about how your online stuff would be searched on too... creeper status. They need a swift kick in *******@ss if they think I'm paying 19 bucks at the cheapest to apply to each job that would take away 4 credits e/ time that I will most likely be ignored anyways. They are on crack. The lowest credit card charge is just under 20 bucks that would give you 6 jobs to apply if that... just to most likely be ignored. And if people are really suckered into this scam then they will consistently be giving them 20 bucks or even more for pricier bundles to keep applying to jobs that don't reply. Keep in mind the scammers that can make up jobs on here. And keep in mind maybe they make fake jobs on there too since they are scamming with this new setup too. So people get excited about getting a fake chance at supposed jobs... wouldn't be shocked. This is what they do on dating sties too, lol. The cest pool of online trolls and scammers to get your money. This is just sad. When this site was free I would get scammers texting me all the time and not through the site being fishy... about send me all your info and you will be mailed a check but I cannot meet you. That tired scam. This site is garbage and so are the legit rude people seeking out others to help them that ignore you. And so are the scammers just like the owners of this *******@ss site. I'm sure there are way better FREE likely sites out there. If you know tell me.
Does Care.com charge people looking for employment? I have applied for several jobs in the past few months And CARE.COM sends a message saying "To view a response from this person "which is someone I applied to for a position" you need to UPGRADE. Which in turn mean pay to have a person respond to a position I applied for That is ridiculous I cannot believe I have to actually pay to get a job
Not a bad site to just search through jobs... However, to show up to potential employers and get a special badge on your profile, you have to pay for their premium membership. Also, you can't be considered a "care-pro" unless you pay for a background check- which I believe is around $60 through their website! I just noticed that on some jobs, they actually make you pay to just apply to the job! All of the pet care jobs in my area cost 4 "credits," which are $1 each to buy from their website. No thanks!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
We're so sorry to hear this happened to you, Angela. We are really concerned with the information you shared and would like to look into this. Do you mind emailing us at careteam@care.com with the information of the caregivers you were referring to? Thanks so much.
