Will force your to upgrade to a paid membership to respond to messages which i'm ok with but then revokes your membership without giving any reason and cites privacy policy. Terrible website, better off taking your chances with CL.
I just wanted to find out more about the organization because I saw on tv. I couldn't even get to a website without registering first! Ridiculous! Turned me off at the getgo!
They offer you the option of a 1month trial and they sneak in the email registration that they will renew your registration automatically.
What's the point of a month registration if they automatically renew it without sending you a notice before doing so?
They just stoll $200 from me because a $40/month, you do not notice it right away.
I am very disappointed. This commercial behavior is the sign of a company trying to get money out of you and it is against my conception of business. Shame on them.
I apologize if you had a negative experience with us. Our auto-renewal feature offers our members an easy way to continue to enjoy our services without interruption. We openly disclose this feature before a member subscribes and grant the ability for members to cancel their subscription.
I seriously think this is a scam. I think some of the ads are made up. I have seen identically worded ads from different people and stupid things like " energetic cat sitter wanted" (for feeding a small cat!). When you apply they say "applications now closed for this" but it's still on the website! Etc etc
If I could award zero stars I would.
I hate Care.com. I swear you can't get a job off that website cause once you send a message about being interested in a job, the person offering the job won't receive the message cause you have to upgrade and pay money for them to see your message. Then when you send a message to the person offering the job, care.com sends you an automated message back making it look like the person sent you a message back. And then it says, " upgrade to see (persons name) message that was sent to you about this job." But they never sent one in real life. This is so stupid. Why do people go to this website for offering jobs? It's a joke. Oh, also, his site makes it REALLY HARD to get your money back if you want to cancel your premium account. I have not personally been through that part but my friend had been. And other reviews will also tell you the same thing. I can't believe this site is still up and running.
They have deceptive business practices. In 2016 I cancelled my account twice and they still claimed I did not down grade it and they continued to charge my credit card with fees which I did not notice until it was too late. Then this month, April 2017 they fraudulently charged me and claimed I had upgraded my account. As of last year I vowed never to do business with this co. And I never have and yet they fraudulently charged my credit card. Trying to reach them is almost impossible. I wish I had read all the reviews on this company before I had originally signed up for what appeared to be a free membership. They are a sneaky, and deceptive company.
Company charged my account and then closed my acct based on something in background check without giving me a chance to explain circumstances of what was in report. Bad business. Company should refund my money. I was looking to get a babysitter not provide babysitting services. Company should allow customers to be heard and provide a simple explanation of minor thing that shows up in a report. Not fair. To date, no supervisor has contacted me.
Care.com do not have an option for members to upload existing background checks. I recently paid for a background check through castlebranch.com and feel that I shouldn't have to pay for another one. Care.com also will not allow me to include in my application that I have an existing background check. Every time I type the words background check, it appears that I have exceeded the number of characters allowed and will not let me type any further. Care.com need to allow members to upload exisiting background checks.
I cant believe i fell for them! This company is a scam! They steal your money right before your eyes!
Use Sittercity! If you are looking for side-income or to make your living off of nannying, pet-sitting or childcare, Care.com screws you over. They have always been a terrible website-- not user-friendly, bad layout, LOT's of spam accounts to creep you out. However, the new credit system for applications is incredibly misguided, and the last straw for me. Deleted my account today. Luckily-- Care.com is not your only option. I also use Sittercity.com and it has always been more user-friendly, more sitter-centered, and overall just less spam and better connections. See you Care.com!
This company purports to offer a valuable service and charges $35 per month. Not only is the service near worthless to me, but also it is near impossible to cancel the subscription.
I have hired several nurses from this site. No problems, then BAM!, out of the blue I receive THE EMAIL. Canceled... for NO reason! I used to recommend them but NO MORE!
If I could give it NO stars I would! After being a premium member for over 6 years all of a sudden out of the blue they deleted my account for NO reason and they wouldn't tell me why. After days of trying to get through I was routed to INDIA where their customer service department is. They overcharge you for EVERYTHING and keep charging you without your permission. I had to call my credit card company to get the charges stopped. No refunds of course!
This company is a huge SCAM! The premise of the business is great, but they trick you into long term subscriptions and automatically renewals to the subscription. The directions on their website to cancel your subscription puts you in a circular email pattern they are i'm sure fully aware of making it impossible to cancel your account. They only offer 'Downgrade" and not cancel which allows them to illegally keep charging you. I cannot wait until Dateline or 20/20 or some news show exposes their horrifically deceitful business practices. Beware don't EVER sign up with them..
Thanks for you feedback, Mary. I apologize if you had a negative experience with us. Our auto-renewal feature offers our members an easy way to continue to enjoy our services without interruption. I have used Care.com for several years with no issues, but after not using it for a few mos, I decided to apply for a local job. I was surprised to see that I need to pay for "credits" to apply! This job was 4 credits to apply and 9 credits minimum to buy was almost $10. I waited a couple days and decided it was worth applying. So I purchased the 9 credits, and when I clicked on "Apply", it wouldn't let me! It said they had too many applications! I emailed care.com and asked what this was about, and they said that to limit competition, they are only allowing 5 APPLICATIONS to go through per job posting! WHAT? I live in MANHATTAN! To be the first 5 applications, you'd have to apply within SECONDS! And they said sorry, credits nonrefundable! This is DEFINITELY bordering illegal, I'm pretty sure it IS illegal to make someone PAY to apply, then NOT let them apply (there was no way to know this until you buy the credits first and hit "APPLY" and then say, "Sorry, nonrefundable". Wow, beware! They are needing to pay for all their TV ads and subway ads! Taking advantage of people who NEED jobs! Shame on you! For the first time, I called my credit card and am disputing these charges. I told them to block any further incoming charges, as Care.com doesn't seem a way to delete your credit card once they have it!
A great website with nice-looking features. However, a mere 24hrs after upgrading to their premium service, we received a notification that our membership was terminated. We were also reminded that Care.com reserves the right to terminate anyone's membership at anytime for no reason, with or without notice. Thanks for nothing Care.com. No explanation was given after we contacted customer service.
In my initial login (where I paid for the service) I contacted two service providers. I was unable to get access after that. I sent three emails to care.com for help, each time only receiving a "canned" response that demonstrated that the representative hadn't even bothered to read my email. For example, the first two responses where instructions on how to use the link to reset my password even though my messages explicitly laid out that the issue that I was having said my password and/or email was incorrect, and when I used the link to request a new password, it said my email was not recognized (even though this was the email they sent confirming my account).
Anyhow, after a week of being refused access to my account, I signed up for sitter city and got a service provide. Care refused to give a refund based on that fact that I contacted two service providers in my initial login (even though I was never able to see their responses because I couldn't log back in.
The website does not work at all when you register. Also when you apply to a job it never goes where it is suppose to. I've talked to a number of people that have never seen my response. They only want money and don't care how they get it. You'd be better off advertising on Facebook for free
Call your credit card company and explain the situation with Care. Com charging your credit card. Your credit card company can put a stop payment to Care. Com
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
We appreciate your feedback, Lora. We'll pass this along on your behalf. Best wishes!
