Available in more than 20 countries, Care.com is the world’s leading platform for finding and managing high-quality family care. Care.com is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s families and caregivers, offering everything from household tax and payroll services and customized corporate benefits packages covering the care needs of working families, to innovating new ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain professional benefits.
The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

Among other many issues, as everybody is mentioning, they made a mistake displaying my background check. I took it with Sterling (who does background checks for care.com), they said it was care.com responsibility. Did they at least try to fix it? No! They just erased my account... So Customers Affairs (DCA) got very interested in the details... A thought: If you had any problems with care.com, before complaining on-line, contact CUSTOMER AFFAIRS, they listen! And then write your reviews everywhere else.
I am so impressed. I couldn't get to the site without the previously posted message popping up on my screen but obviously someone at Care.com saw this site and my question and ladies and gentlemen, they already responded to me! And I no longer have the message popping up and can once again access the site. So happy, thank you!
For everyone still looking for jobs, just know that most of the customers I have applied to, I get no response. The trick is to keep applying, look at your profile and make any changes needed. BE responsive to the clients. And follow-up. I worked with a whole crew of caregivers that all were hired because of Care.com. If we could do it, so can you.
I believe that helping seniors and their families in hard times is so important. So if you have a heart for this type of work, don't give up. Best of luck to you all!
TOOK MONEY AND NEVER POSTED CORRECTLY THEN I GET A SCAM TEXT AND OF COURSE I REPLY UNTIL I GET EMAILS SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO PAY ME ADVANCE... I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BUT TOO TRUSTING
We're so sorry this happened. Feel free to email us the scammer's information at careteam@care.com so our Safety Team can look into this. Additionally, I suggest hiding your phone # from your profile, go to My Profile and Settings > Personal Information > Edit and uncheck the box where it says "Make my phone # visible to other Care.com members". I also encourage you to check out this article from the Safety Center on the site:
I would give them o stars if i Could. Ive had a care.com profile for about a year now and up until recently I've liked it okay. Ive applied to jobs just fine, and gotten responses. But recently I now have to pay to apply? Like you are asking a jobless person to pay 10$ basically for every job they apply to which is ridiculous. Also when trying to get any sort of customer service you have to pay 30$ for them to "fix your problem". Basically if you are to ask a question to customer service, to receive and answer you have to pay 30$ its ridiculous and a total scam. Please don't use their services I have definitely stopped
I signed up for care.com about 6 months ago and had nothing but problems from the get go. Paid for the upgraded membership, back ground check etc. Jumped through all the hoops to try and get a better listing and more notice. I luckily got two jobs over the 6 months so at least earned what I spent back but nothing more. Most jobs I applied to I never even got a no thank you, nothing. Now I have to pay 10.99 for 10 credits and each job requires 4 credits to apply and if you get no response at all which is typical, you are spending a lot of money for nothing. No thanks I will look elsewhere for pet sitting jobs. I probably applied for over 40 jobs if not more during my 6 month membership and I only got two jobs and the rest I heard nothing from. Not a good return on investment. Save your money.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. I used to have a profile on Care.com years ago and even then people were not happy with having to pay just to apply to a job. I can't believe I joined once more and completed a $60 background check only to try to apply to jobs and seeing that I have to use up my credits thus charging me more money! In the past I have also applied to other gigs posted and I believe that they are phony individuals set up by Care.com as I have had years of experience and am able to book clients with no problems whatsoever on other sites or companies! These so-called families never replied to me and I applied to several applications at different times of the year. I contacted Care.com before my background check cleared to cancel my consent and somehow they said in less than a day it had already been cleared! Have never heard of such a quick background check. DO NOT use this company, stay away, as a sitter or as a potential client!
I was able to find a caregiver, but watch out for their scam. I've been caught in their scam twice now. Here's how it works:
When you sign up for monthly service, you have to cancel before the month ends or it automatically renews. Pretty typical. But if you cancel on their website before the month ends, the site tells you the service is canceled, but it don't send you a confirmation mail, and it doesn't actually cancel your service. You have to send an e-mail to customer service, and only then will they respond and cancel your service. This has happened to me *three times* so the 2nd and 3rd time I was very careful to cancel on their site and get a confirmation screen indicating the service was canceled, but I didn't think to check e-mail. Now I know. If you don't get an e-mail confirmation of your cancellation, your service isn't canceled and these scammers will continue to charge you monthly. They will refund your last month if you haven't used the site, but they will not refund any prior months.
I paid once and could not use the site. They charged me twice and i tried to call. The number sends you to a survey and if you call twice they block you!
1. I had the free basic membership but signed up for a trial month at "premium level" for a fee. I assumed after the trial period, my membership would go back to the basic free one. Instead, Care.com continued to charge me a monthly fee at the HIGHEST rate for 12 months totaling over $450. I NEVER used their service after the trial month. They charged me for 11 months of UNUSED service. They finally stopped after I cancelled my credit card. I didn't realize the "automatic subscription" didn't just mean they would downgrade my premium subscription back to basic subscription after the trial period. The verbiage was deliberately unclear and misleading.
2. Care.com didn't do any follow-up steps at the end of the subscription period to inform me that it was almost finished and if I'd like to continue the premium subscription. Other respectable companies notify you so you have the option to cancel. Instead, care.com charged me at the HIGHEST monthly rate for every month afterwards. No steps were taken to inform or remind me. If I had wanted to subscribe for a year, I would've signed up for the $13/month rate, NOT the $40/ month they arbitrarily billed me for.
3. was told I'd receive a call to explain my case. Instead i get an email with no direct number to call. This is not customer service. They deliberately make it impossible for you to speak to a supervisor and make you wait indefinitely for an email response instead.
Unethical! Basically a scam! Anybody know if a class action lawsuit has been raised against them?
The customer service team that "Jennifer M" keeps referring to in the below posts is non-existent. They purposely make it near impossible to deal with a human being or escalate an issue. Care.com would prefer you to get frustrated and give up so they do not have to deal with real customer issues. There have been numerous class action lawsuits that have been very successful based on the exact same "auto renewal policy" that care.com keeps quoting. They do not want to hear about real issues or problems with their service and would prefer to be cagey and deceitful. Do not listen to "Jennifer M" as this is not a real person but the persona they use to respond to everyone. By far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. DO NOT USE
Jill Patterson took great care of my dog Riley. She sent me updates and pictures almost daily. The pictures showed my dog to be comfortable and relaxed. I am very pleased with the loving care Riley received.
Don't even waste your time.
You can find work/ care done here else. They have no clue...
Care used to be decent until recently when they make you pay for everything! I can't apply to jobs anymore without paying and even people posting jobs have to pay eventually. Plus, it's rare to even get a job from there. I hope everyone stops using it and they see how they screwed up big time!
This website should be put down. It is a disrespect to people. You're supposed to invest money in order to get jobs but you don't get any jobs which makes me think that most posts there are fake. They are basically making money by ripping people off, and the worst thing is, these are people who are trying to work to pay their bills.
I read a review that was concerned about your "free" basic plan, when I initially joined, The basic package since your software upgrade IS NOT FREE because now you are charging caregivers so much for 'credits' before they can apply for jobs. I agree with a previous reviewer that you NEED rectify this!
Took my money, didn't get jobs, kept saying I had to pay more money to get jobs, who has to pay money to work. The 20 I paid for month trial was taken and in 2 days my account was saying I needed to upgrade to continue. Thieves, liars and scammers at this place
I had many spams, people trying to get my data and promising me incredible money out of this website. I had my membership with them for about a year and rarely I was getting any messages, but when I singed off... all of the sudden I have 50 messages! How great... right, I don't have good feeling about this website and their membership has become twice more expensive in the last 12 months.
Sure they can point to their subscription policy as evidence that they are not committing fraud but they don't make it imminently clear! A good company would make it very clear. Plus, they didn't reimburse for a service that I didn't even use - no way to operate a respectful business.
Booked 1 month subscription. Found cleaner who never turned up. Took money 2nd month without my permission. Watch as this is a scam!
I spent money on an upgraded account with care.com. They sent me an image of a fuzzy out email that they claimed was a job offer and that if I wanted to make the email readable I would need to upgrade. So I feel for their trick and gave them money and then suddenly the email was lost. When I tried to contact care.com I quickly learned that that is almost impossible. They have almost no customer service at all. Unless of course you want to send them some money. They also referred someone to me that turned out to be a scam artist. I have seldom seen a more blatant example of unprofessionalism and dishonesty. Care.com wants money. Period.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
