My father told to me create an account to help find a job. He did a while back and was denied due to his background check not passing. So I tried to make an account and was denied instantly. Apparently since we have the same first and last name I was denied because my (his) background check failed. After I emailed them with my issue. They told me I was denied due to my background check. I informed them that it was my father's background that failed. Not mine and I was never even given the opportunity for a background check. They said they can refuse anyone they want for any reason and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Horrible company. Horrible website. Horrible employees. Horrible job openings. Charge you for an account. Deny your account for any reason they want. Take advantage of everyone. I suggest going to any other company. Seriously any company that does anything remotely like this company go to them instead. Care.com is just plain ignorant. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

This is the worst company ever, with policies that are both unfair and detrimental to the mission they claim to support.
Everyone in this company should go to jail. They steal money from both sides, both caregivers and those looking for help with childcare get screwed over. Shame on you! You suck.

SCAM
March 9, 2017

I have used care.com for the past 3 years. I found two babysitting jobs from great families and worked for both of them. Recently, I offered to help set up an a profile for my mom for her dog walking business, and now they are making you buy credits just to apply for a job. This makes absolute no sense. I tried calling their service number and it's impossible to reach an actual person. All I got was a voice recording. I am so upset with this business and this website. It was never like this before. How does it make any sense to make people pay to apply for a job? If anyone knows where I can take my business elsewhere please let me know.

Tried to find work
March 6, 2017

care.com must be a joke, signed up, they took all my money and not one job. Paid for all the background checks and everything else. You cannot get jobs, now you have to pay for credits for your profile to even exist on the web site. This is a web site that takes the care giver's money and the people looking for good people. DO not "give" your money to these people.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE
March 6, 2017

OK. So I had high hopes for this website to find a reliable sitter. I signed up and paid $40.00. I go on to look for a sitter in my area, and found at least for people either on felony probation or with child endangerement charge (I worked for felony probation and parole). I overcame the frustration and decided to pick several candidates to conduct an in person interview. I sent 3 personal messages and requests an in person interview to schedule with them. Then, I come to find out they terminated my account for no apparent reason. Are you kidding me? So not only you obviously don't do any proper background checks, you also delete people who care enough about their child to make multiple interview appointments to find an appropriate fit. I WILL LET EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY.

Disgusted
March 5, 2017

Just as I suspected, care.com is a complete scam. Paid 45. For nothing. Wasted my time putting together my profile. Had high hopes, and after applying to over 30 adds, never received one response. At a time when I'm desperate for work, it's very frustrating. Save your time and and effort.

You can't imaging all the abuse and stereotyping that immigrants have to take from people that employ you. Like everywhere they are good people and bad ones. If a bad apple call to care.com and complaint about you with any untrue reason, care.com will judge you and cancel your profile account. Also, PLEASE Do not support companies like care.com that charge per job application to people that do not have a job. Is abusive and completely unethical. Move your profile to www.sittercity.com you can apply to jobs without having to pay. Show to care.com that YOU are the reason for their existence.

Poor site, poor service
February 28, 2017

I applied to be a caregiver. I was selected by a random pull for a background check. When Care.com did this check on me they only provided my first and last name and birthdate to Sterling infosystems. Anyone in the country with my very common name who might share a birthdate came up on the background check. They suspended my account and I disputed the report. It was a time consuming process... in the meantime I offered to show care.com my approved home study to be a foster parent which included in depth background checks. They weren't interested. My background was cleared by simply providing my social security number and license number. I continue to inform Care.com of every step of action I am taking to clear the bogus report that they initially got from the random check utilizing too little information to properly identify anyone. Had they informed me that they wanted to do a random check and asked for my identifying info before the check was run I would have gladly given it to them as I have never had a conviction of any kind in my entire life. I have jumped through many hoops to clear the erroneous report and have yet to hear from CARE as to reinstating my account. When trying to call Care.com you are put thru numerous recorded prompts that don't really match your needs... if you finally get to speak to someone they can offer no help. This site has been frustrating, unprofessional and in noway useful. I will continue to use the competition as they have showed to actually care unlike CARE.com

Hi Scott! As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for. Feel free to email us at careteam@care.com and one of our member care representative would be more than happy to cancel your subscription for you. You can also set your account to downgrade to cancel auto renewal by going to Account & Settings > Membership Information > Downgrade. Best wishes!

Going downhill
February 27, 2017

I used to LOVE this site! It was free to use, so if you did not get any responses to your applications, no harm, no foul. Back in 2013-2014, I did get quite a few jobs. The people were lovely to deal with and I had no problems. In the last two years, I can barely get a response whatsoever. I recently logged in to my account and see that I have to have CREDITS to use the site I once enjoyed for free? No, I'm sorry, people who use Care.com are looking to make money... and if they're like me, they're already doing all they can not to struggle financially. I will not dump money into a site that's given me zero hits in 2 years and like 20 applications. Bad idea on their part.

Went downhill badly
February 27, 2017

I used to be able to look through jobs and got some good offers and interviews. The last few months the app will not even work on my iPad. Forces me to look at jobs one by one instead of looking at lists of jobs. Are they trying to force people to pay to upgrade? It has become useless.

I am truly in shock by all the negative feedback and reviews people have posted on this site, if I could make one thing known to the `internet world`, it would be to understand that most of the time people take the time to make a review, it is because they had a negative experience. I hope people understand that only a small majority of people review and its generally because they are unsatisfied. I am not downing or implying these people are wrong, but i do believe that the people happy with care.com just did not feel the need to review it. I have been on care.com for about 6 years now and 100% satisfied with what they have to offer. They truly want what is best for each individual person and I have been SO lucky to find MANY positions, and out of each position we(both me and the family) were happy with the out come of our work/family relationships. I dont generally review sites or anything for that matter I just felt the need to express that care.com has made my nannying career so much more simple and much easier to find families who needed help. I did not get every job i applied for but that is life, you have to find whats right for you(both you and the family). If you put in work and effort and are fit for being a care giver care.com rewards you, so you really do not have to pay to be a caregiver, Im not an employer so I dont know exactly how that works but i do know that out of everyone i worked for only 2 families paid the site to get more benefits. And as a disclaimer I am not getting any benefits from them for writing this and am not an employee of the company.

It is ultimately the family' decision to reply to the applications they receive although we advise everyone to reply promptly to their messages, we're so sorry if this has not been your experience. I suggest applying to all jobs that interest you and send a follow up message if you dont hear anything back. I thought this article on the site might be helpful as well; http://tinyurl.com/zum4fvj. February 21, 2017

People from there that i try to interview (3 women) so pushy to get in the house just after one simple meeting for interview. After letting one of them know that we have a camera in the house she said: oh the most you can see is me in underware or naked in case the baby would vomit on me@@@@ seriosly? That girl was 21. I mean really not so easy for me to be intimidated i am 23 our baby is 14 months. I was shoked of the girls i interview two of them were slightly whorish in the way they dresses and acted. The phrase: oh this baby is going to be so happy with meand her daddy as well yeah just like that. Pls pay more atention who u recomand to the people that search for care givers on your web site.do background cheks.

We're sorry to hear about your experience, Dana. Safety is our number one priority due to the nature of our business and we are concerned with the information you mentioned about the caregivers you interviewed. Can you send us an e-mail at careteam@care.com with the names of the caregivers you interviewed so we can take a further look? Thanks so much

I created an account yesterday. Today I received an email saying my account is closed. When I emailed and asked why, they said I never responded to a background check issue within 7 days of being notified. I responded that I had just signed up yesterday and have a clean background. They then responded that I signed up for an account in 2012 and had a background check then with issues. What? There are thousands of people with my name is the USA, and they have me mixed up with someone else and won't fix the issue.

Impossible!
February 21, 2017

Was contacted by someone who offered to give me a babysitting job. I quit my job and cleared my schedule and the person said they would send a check. Took it to the bank and it was fake. Luckily I was not conned out of any money, but I quit my job and rearranged my entire schedule for this job. Be ware of people who offer to send a large check but never meet with you. It was my mistake, but there are people on this site trying to take advantage of people. I reported this when it happened over a year ago and never received a response from care.com team. Also, it is nearly impossible to find a way to contact care.com employee to report something or file a complaint. The commercials make it seem like this is a company that really cares, but it is incredibly difficult to get customer assistance, and when there is a problem with fraud or anything else, there is literally no response

I signed up for Care.com looking to be a caregiver or a position. They are no good, you need to pay to receive messages from potential employers, you are looking for a job, you shouldn't have to pay monthly fees to get a job. This is just a scam people care.com is fake, if you want good care for your kids, just use the newspaper and require a background check, conduct an interview, use nanny cams but don't use care.com, they are no good. You won't find good caregivers there because none of them want to pay. I'm an LNA with five years of experience in caregiving and 10 years working with kids, I'm cpr certified but I'm not going to pay monthly to use this stupid site. Advertise on monster indeed.com or the newspaper, but don't bother with care.com they are useless.
