I first signed up and was extremely excited about the opportunities. I made a detailed profile, and paid the money to upgrade to "premium", which basically seemed necessary in order to land jobs. For a month afterwards, I applied to dozens of jobs and didn't get a single response even though I had high reviews and background checks and references. It seemed like nobody even got my messages. Wasn't worth it at all, and I got more jobs for pet-care on my neighborhood website. Don't pay for it
Few month ago I got a message from someone called Stephen( from California)! This is the person who send fake checks for your service. He talks about an apartment he will move and he will pay in advance for your cleaning service. He also says that a landlord will pay you. I see another post asking for a housekeeper, paying $300 for a cleaning, under name Mark P. From Los Angeles, California, today 04/21/17. Be careful! He wanted to deposit those checks in your account and send cash to him or his landlord!
Thief people!
I've been a professional Nanny for six and a half years. I started on Care for my first Nanny position. It always had draw backs. Lots of people applying for the same jobs, Families being spammed with applications that didn't qualify to their needs. Sammers calling/messaging me.
But NOW: I have to go one by one through jobs I'm not available for or interested in. What a joke! Care has put in a "flat rate" option for date nights, that allows Families to pay less than minimum wage (illegal). And you want payment from me so Families can see my message? I'm done, you've lost a quality caregiver!
A few years ago I stumbled across care.com come. I signed up and started looking for jobs. No charges were involved. I found a really good job so I havent been on it for a few years so now im looking for a part time job to help with finances and I go to log on and I am locked out so I try to create a new account and I am still locked out. I sent an email to ask why and they told me that my back ground came back and so im permanently blocked that I have to contact sterling company that does the third party back ground check. I called sterling and after about 30 minutes of triing to talk to people who dont speak english they didnt have any record of doing a back ground check. I ask them to send a email to care, com stating that but they said they could not because there is nothing to send. So I then replied back to care.com that I called sterling and there was never a background done on me and that they had trouble pulling up my name because it was so common that they had to get all my personal information to verify and still nothing showed up. Care, com was rude and unresponsive to my concerns so I started reading about the background policy. Its turns out that they do not verify anyback ground checks. In my case there is no record of my background check and if they did one who was it really that is suppose to be me. They dont quarantee that the information that you are recieving when hiring someone is even correct and the also share all you personal information with third parties. It states all this in their policies. Its a very fake and unsafe company and Im glad now I know so they can keep me blocked.!
We signed up for a one month plan and then called and cancelled but the charges kept coming. I filed dispute with my credit card and cancelled with them again. I wanted them to pay me back for previous months that they charged me by error. To do that your only option is to send an email which they never answered and when I call they send you to the email option again. You'll never get an answer to your emails
We're sorry to hear your frustrations. All of our subscriptions automatically renew until canceled and we do send out confirmation emails when you successfully cancel your subscription. If you do have this confirmation email, I suggest emailing them to careteam@care.com so that we could fix it if it was an error on our end. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
When you register for free you start receiving a lot of emails from care.com that are supposed to be on a care givers behalf. This is a lie. The emails are from care.com themselves. They just send you an internal message containing a baby sitters profile.
you only find this out after upgrading your account with a fee. Out of the 11 messages that I recieved only one was genuine.
We're so sorry you feel this way, all of the caregiver profiles on the site are legitimate profiles created by other members. Feel free to email us at careteam@care.com with the information of profiles that appears to be fake and we'd be happy to look into this for you. We wish you all the best!
Obviously reading these reviews I come to terms that care.com really does not care about their nannies
Scam don't do it total scam you will lose your shirt and give money for no reason get fake checks good luck
They've been taking unauthorized payments of $47 from my credit card for almost 2 years, for a subscription that was cancelled after just one month. I've tried multiple times to reach a person to discuss this issue, and also followed the links to cancel subscription in the original email, but the links are all broken. No invoices, no reminders, no renewal notices, nothing. Just taking my money.
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We're so sorry if you had a negative experience on the site and we'll pass your feedback along.
I'm a fulltime nanny and have exclusively used care.com to secure positions for the past 5 years. In the beginning it was relatively simple to filter through families, apply and recieve responses. Fast forward a few years later and responses become more scarce; maybe 10 replies for every 100 applications submitted. It become apparent that posters had to pay to reply to caregivers and if you attempted to give any personal information, like a phone #, it would be blocked. Still, the site was usable and positions could be obtained after a few months.
Now the final straw has come and they've implimented a "credit" system for caregivers, attempting to make us pay for each application and only showing one family at a time. Common sense would dictate that people who are in search of income are not able to pay just to apply, with absolutely no guarantee of even a message back. Due to this asinine change myself and fellow experienced caregivers will be boycotting Care completely and taking our services elsewhere. I sincerely hope that the company returns to its older format and stops these ridiculous tactics to drain every penny from its community.
Dear Care.com. No need to pass the information onto the correct department. They are well aware. Making matters worse, I believe I rank in the top 1 % of caregivers on Care.com with over 40,5 star parent reviews. Care.com has made it clear to me that they don't care...
Thanks for your feedback, Suzi. We'll forward this to the correct department for you. Best of luck to you!
Don't sign up for Care.com! I signed up solely to apply for a job listing I found linked elsewhere. As soon as I finished my profile, I immediately got a TON of spam email from other "employers." They are definitely selling your email address on this site! The icing on the cake was finding out that I have to PAY to apply to jobs. Absolutely ridiculous! Makes me doubt that anyone using this site is legit at all!
Our boys loved Mandy Bennett, she was very indeed and punctual. She brought play dough, and sticker, and little. Kitten dishes for them. She played with then with there toys and played make believe role play, crafts, coloring, and even was teaching. Them Spanish. She told them about horses and those type of things us city dwellers don't know about, only. A county lady would. Know about, the boys loved it. And learned sounds of different. Farm animals.our situation changed and a family member wanted the position... Dr Mendel
That's great to hear, Greg! We're happy to learn Mandy was such a great babysitter to your kids, sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for reaching out!
This site was good I have been a pet sitter there and had a few clients but now they are ripping off sitters too? If one is looking for ajob why charged for their application that doesn t make sense... I have read a few websites and noticed that people looking to hire a sitter got loads of applications making them difficult to decide... ok thats understandable but instead of charging sitters for credits why dont just limit applications per household to at least 10. Im not recommending anyone to this site neither a job seeker nor service seeker... Look elsewere you can check www.rover.com if you are in need of pet care at least.
I decided to pay for 12 points to apply for a couple of jobs. The first one I tried to apply for said it was closed to applicants as 5 people had already applied and my thumbnail was not listed as one of them but I GOT DEDUCTED THE POINTS. Then applied to another job and that seemed ok but today (a day later) it says that person is no longer a member, but job was just posted two days ago... I have contacted care.com about this and they just sent me a reply saying so sad too bad you didn't get the job. Really? I am now trying for a refund as my credit card company requested I do this as a first step.
I would give less than one star if I could. This website is a total scam - I cancelled on the website but they said they had no record of it and continued to charge me $50 a month! They don't send you an invoice or notice of the charges they are automatically taking out of your bank account. They refuse to refund you. Most of the profiles on the site are fake so it is a total waste of time - I only ever heard back from 5% of my emails and they were no longer looking for a job. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with this site.
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We're so sorry if this was not clear to you. We wish you all the best!
My advice is not to even sign up. They get you to sign up then basically ask for money and again ask for money. Background checks, which any local police department can do that for free if a family needs that information. They want you to get paid on their site. Which I can't find a reasonable answer for this.
The people on the site suck! One lady I hired quit after one day. The other one lied to me about how much she charged then had me pay her $1,200 for not even a full week. Charged me $20 because we made a stop at target on the way home. Made me pay her lunch, and refused to cook or clean even when I told her I needed house help and she assured she would help with laundry etc. Then she told me I should spank my kid and lock them in their rooms and spank them. She told me my 3 year old was a monster and I would never be able to parent her. Uggg... so done
I apologize if you had a negative experience with the caregivers you hired from the site, Belinda. Do you mind sending us an email at careteam@care.com with the names of the care providers you hired? Thank you so much!
I got a text message asking for a dog sitter from a Victoria Cullen. She was willing to pay $300 weekly. Definitely seemed a little suspicious. I did my research and found another person who said it was a SCAM. Just wanted to relay this information.
The text message provided this email: *******@outlook.com
BEWARE!
Sorry to hear about your experience, Jessie! Feel free to email us the scammer's information at careteam@care.com and I will forward that information to our Safety Team for review. Additionally, I suggest hiding your phone # from your profile, go to My Profile and Settings > Personal Information > Edit and uncheck the box where it says "Make my phone # visible to other Care.com members". I also encourage you to check out this article from the Safety Center on the site:
In an 18 month period I have cancelled twice given confirmation my account was cancelled. The amount was being pulled off a company credit card and only when the card expired was unable to finally stop having the monthly bill pulled. I tried consistently spoke to reps they would assure me it was cancelled the next month another payment pulled. They are yet to oblige my request with a refund only to provide free new services. From reading reviews similar I'm seeing a class action lawsuit in their near future.
We're so sorry this happened, Rhonda. Feel free to email us at careteam@care.com so that we could look into this for you. Thanks for reaching out!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
Thank you for being open and honest about your experience. We truly appreciate your feedback and we're sorry you feel this way. We'll pass this along to the right department. We wish you all the best!
