I've been with them 2 years and I wanted to upgrade they got my money and then the next day I get an email saying they determent my account and they haven't sent my money back they owe me like $40 and didn't even explain to me why they took me off care! So mad!
I cancelled my membership and they still charged my credit card after communicating with them. I had to stop them through my credit card company.
Be careful when you choose the one month subscription. This greedy company will charge you the high rate for the rest of your life unless you catch them and call them immediately to stop their charge. Even though I already cancelled the membership after one month, they still billed me for a few months. I finally caught them and they tried to defend its my responsibility to contact them to stop charging me monthly fees though I already cancelled the service and never used the website for many months. Watching me not using your service, charging me fees behind my back, laughing that I didnt catch you sooner, and celebrating that your trick worked, CAN you be more shameless than that? They purposefully deceive you as if the one month subscription is only for one month! I dont think an unethical company like this would be able to get you anywhere in finding help to care for your loved ones. Totally a fraud. You might end up better asking around in your town and city, than joining this fraudulent website. My experience with Care.com in one sentence: $120 charged without my knowledge and the initial $39 I paid didnt get me any caregiver.
Spent a bunch of time trying to "join;" trying to find someone; trying to get information - GOT NOTHING - TOTAL WASTE OF TIME - and bottom line is they want to charge you for a subscription so you can look for someone to hire. Huh? IT DOES NOT GET ANY WORSE THAN THIS! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.
The list of deficiencies is so long! I have been sending screenshots of website errors all day to their tech department. It is the site from hell. Complete waste of money and time. And, they are almost completely unavailable for any feedback. They used to be a decent site years ago, but in the last two years they are truly terrible! People who didn't apply for the my job have called me, and the website posted that I hired someone who didn't even apply!
An expensive small network. No one was available for sitting needs. Care.com was a rip off.

I used this site once in June 2016, found it hard and unable to connect with others. I guess I signed up for the premium account some how for a year, yes a year and they would not refund my money. Then in June 2017 I get another charge on my credit care for another year ($149) I called, complained, closed my account and they would not refund my money again... NOW today June 10,2018 they have charged my credit card again. I am furious, no emails to warn me that another charge will be incurring! I used the site for one month in June 2016, and now they have got $450.00 dollars of my money. Stay away from this site, bad business practice and are robbing families blind!
If I could give this app and website a zero, I would. I'm willing to skip the back ground checks, and messaging that the premium package offers but I can't figure out how to even book a housekeeper for free. I'm usually capable of using apps and websites, but this one baffled me. HOW DO YOU USE IT FOR FREE?
Hi Liza! We require that at least one of the party has Premium in order to communicate on the site. You should be able to reach out and book Housekeepers that have Premium membership with your free account. If you'd like us to assist you further, you may email us at careteam@care.com or reach out on Facebook and Twitter!
I searched and found a dog walker thru Care.com, hired the walker for a very specific time period. Care.com continued to charge my card after and claimed I had set up recurring payments. Of course I had set up regular periods for the time period in queation but not after. It seems Care.com took it upon themselves to change it to "unlimited recurring." When I contacted customer service, I was told they could not refund 2 days of billed but not received, or requested, services because the payments had already been processed and transferred to walker's account and that I would have to take reimbursement (of course minus Care.com's 5% service fee) up with the walker who did nothing wrong. At that time I had received credit card alerts about those to charges but they were still pending for the 1st and did not actually show up at all yet for the 2nd so I call bull$#*! on that claim. Also, it took days for the walker to get paid initially depite my card being charged immediately so they're by no means quick to process payments. In any case, they charge a 5% fee but don't want to work for it and seem to "adjust" orders so that they can "scam" some money. DON'T use Care.com!
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
I created a Care.com account to try to work with animals. The site Care.com denied my main photo twice. In this photo it is me and my puppy with the american flag in the background. It was denied due to the american flag. Anti-american? I think so. I will not do business with this kind of company.

First they try to get me to upgrade by telling me that the potential employer can respond to me only if I pay for an upgrade. I ignore this and plan to close my account but put it off for a few days, meanwhile I'm getting multiple promotion emails from them offering me great deals on a membership upgrade ECT. I ignore all requests and a couple of more days goes by. I then today get an email from care.com informing me that my account is been closed because my background check showed information that was against their policy. When somebody request permission to do a background check, that means they are checking your background for criminal activity. But it turns out that with care.com when they say background check with their really doing is doing a credit check on you. I didn't know this until I read links and the find print directly related to the decline email I got from them. I knew there was nothing in my background that When somebody request permission to do a background check, that means they are checking your background for criminal activity. But it turns out that with care.com when they say background check with their really doing is doing a credit check on you. I didn't know this until I read links and the find print directly related to the decline email I got from them. I knew there was nothing in my background that would disqualify me because currently work home health care with two different companies in both had to do background checks on me both in the last year. I have no criminal history and I instantly thought maybe somebody had gotten ahold of my identity and was using it when they were arrested for something. But no it turned out that there doing credit check and I would have never submitted my permission to do so because I had identity theft nearly 3 years ago that I'm still trying to fix. So thanks for nothing care.com but I'm going to run my big mouth all over the internet and I'm going to keep running it until you change your crooked policies
Care.com could not make it any HARDER to connect with care providers even when you have PAID for a premium membership!

Posted for a cat sitter, received 4 applications which I could not respond to unless I was a premium member. Bogus site. Fraud. Stay away from these scammers.
We're sorry you feel this way, George. At least one party has to be a paying member in order to exchange messages on the site, you should be able to reply to pet care providers with Premium membership. We appreciate you taking time sharing your experience and we'll make sure to pass it along.
I've been on this site for a year and never received any responses to all of the numerous applications I submitted for various jobs. Eventually, the light bulb went off. If I don't continually purchase all their extras, then they never really submit your applications. I realized this after seeing in tiny print at the bottom of one of my messages to "upgrade to allow so-and-so to respond to this message". What? This was NEVER made clear. Apparently, if you don't purchase all their extras... you're invisible.
Hi Tonya. Your applications are sent to members regardless of your membership status. However, in order for them to reply, either you or they have to upgrade to Premium membership. I apologize if you haven't received any responses from potential clients, I thought this article might be helpful; http://tinyurl.com/zum4fvj.
I was caught by Care.com twice, stupid me. First I joined and I used promo code, after i completed the payment i released they charged me full amount. A month later I posted another job and got few applicants, but couldn't reply to them because care.com asked me upgrade, which I did. The minute they received the money the blocked my account. It is really creepy practice from the website to take the money and close your account the same day. Stay clear of this website
I apologize if you had a negative experience with us, Mary. We'd love to look into this issue for you and see if there is anything we can do to assist you. Please send us an email at careteam@care.com, you can also reach us on Facebook and Twitter.
My name is Debra, I'm in Cincinnati Ohio, for the passed 8 months almost, I've been trying to find a job on house & pet setting. I keep looking even for one out of town. But all the sudden about 3months ago or so. They blocked me. When I would send out to answer one they blocked it. (Said I needed to upgrade.) please tell me? How can a person upgrade if they can't get a job?
So I called and complained, it didn't help me any. It went over their head. I could have found a few jobs if they would have put it though. A person shouldn't have to grade till they have found they first job on that site to prove it works. Because it sure didn't work for me. Sorry to those not they whom may have tried to use my site.
Ms. Debra Bennett
I know it isnt me, because I am completely qualified to be a nanny. I am working on a masters degree to teach, have a background in tutoring and daycare, and am very flexible at work. I have sent applications to almost every job in my area, yet two have been read. I think that care.com does not let the other person see it unless they pay. I wouldnt have used this site had I know. Its conpletely ridiculous. As if I had that much money to waste!
I created an account and posted a request for services (had paid nothing). A week later I logged in and responded to 6 applicants. At that time I paid for the one month 'membership'. An hour later I tried to log in to check messages; the site said I wasn't registered. There is NO phone # on the site, so I sent the payment confirmation to *******@care.com and received a response that per their terms & conditions they can without notice and without reason close an account, and stated "unfortunately, you are not eligible to use the service. This decision is final and irreversible. No exceptions will be made to these terms."
I paid the amount to get referrals, tp work with seniors. Care.com closes my account and gave no reason! I wish I had read reviews! I paid for a 3month subscription and did not receive 3 weeks of advertisement! They are a total Scam! This company needs to be investigated! I would not give them a star but this is the only way I could write a review. Consumers beware of this company CARE.COM! A total Scam!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
