People apply to your posting without looking at it first. I have had COUNTLESS applicants who I have taken the time to set up interviews and some who I actually interviewed. Then after all that work they say they cannot work the schedule you posted. Many of them the schedule was even reiterated several times so I wouldnt waste my time and they expressed understanding only to tell me right before interview or after a job offer they cannot work the agreed schedule. Very irresponsible people who dont care about your needs. They dont seem to know that they are applying for a job just like you would anywhere else.
Ive been a paid member about three weeks now and im not sure how legit this site really is actually. I went on one interview and they asked me to sit for them. But it seems there are scams on here! I already caught three beware of someone claiming their deaf there was a woman emailing ill send you a fake check scam. Then a guy same MO deaf send me a check. Prob counterfeit check. I will not renew there are way too many scam people posting ads on here. I was kinda suprised i thought this was a legitimate place to find matches. Im better off advertising my services elsewhere.
I have paid their $20 prime membership fee (only way you will ever get a response to your job search) and have spent all week emailing their support team to please move my caregiver profile from their petsitter profiles to their caregiver profiles area so that I can search and apply to the new jobs as a caregiver. They are either refusing to or are inept at performing this simple request, and there is no option for me to change the "type" to from petsitter to caregiver/care provider on their type list choices. They will not refund any portion or the entire $20 I paid for prime membership either. "Its automated for your convenience" like anyone beieves that! It would be superb of this organization to insert the human factor into the equation to assuage the total irritation they are handing me on their silver platter.
So sorry for your frustrations, Sheryl. You would have to add a service profile for the category you'd like to apply to. Here’s how to add another service profile to your account; log into your Care.com account > Click the Account & Settings link on the left-hand side of the page > Scroll down to "My Services" and find "Add a Service" below your existing service title
On the drop down menu > click the arrow to view the service category choices > Click the service you’d like to add so that it remains visible in the box > Click "GO". Unfortunately, this is not a feature offered on our Mobile App at this time. To add a service profile to your account, you will need to log into your Care.com account using a computer. I hope this is helpful and if you need further assistance, you can reach us on Facebook and Twitter.
Wow, I dont know where to start. First of all I hey are always changing up memship options. It used to be free for people who are looking for jobs, I understand this is a business and theyre here to make money. But most people who are looking for families do not have 30$ to give just to see if someone has responded, and theyre always changing it trying to use coins to apply or some months they just want you to have a membership. Its ALWAYS changing and always a pain. Some months it will be free and I can message freely!
Another complaint is that fact that we, as care givers going into strangers homes, are not able to review the parents. I feel this is very necessary for us to know what we are going into as well as the type of service the parents are getting. I have had a couple of not so great interactions with parents that I have either been with people I interviewed with or have worked a short time with.
Situations that have nothing to do with the way I or any other care giver has done, simply just the way parents act.
On the other hand I have found AMAZING families that I have worked for and built incredible relationships with and I am grateful for that.
If you're looking for a housekeeper, caregiver, babysitter, etc, this business offers to list your job for free, then shows potential helpers. It looks good up front, but is simply a gateway to hook the people who want work, who have to pay up front to see what's available. I actually thought they were okay and decided to try a paid membership, because that's the only way you can actually contact potential helpers. I had a 30 percent off promo code, and the discounted amount is what was shown when I clicked the button, but the e-mailed receipt showed the full amount. I immediately wrote customer service, and it took two days and overnight to get an answer, and then they wouldn't do it til I managed to track down the code they used. Sadly it was only after I'd joined that I read online reviews, including from the Better Business Bureau and here, and realized that it was a trap for the people who needed work and that everything you wanted to do required more money. They wouldn't let me cancel my membership and give me a refund, though they finally refunded the 30 percent I should have had off. Then they encouraged me to use the service, since I was paying for a membership. I declined. I lost money, but I didn't want to be part of an obviously greedy and less than honest business. Stay away.
Most all of these jobs are minimum wage. The ones that are out there may not even be real. I never once got a message back. Not sure if this site is even legitimate.
They cancel your membership for NO REASON. Literally most ppl do not even respond. I personally think some of it is "fake news" I'm a private caregiver with EXCELLENT REFERENCES AND EXPERIENCE. I think it is odd how NO ONE even messages me. I called and complained one time and MIRACULOUSLY the same week I "recieved" a few messages that never went ANYWHERE. Im not saying it does not bring families together, but I have doubt
I visited their site and selected "only browsing" to indicate my level of interest. I could get no information until I gave out my email, which I did (and should have known better.) They are spamming me with emails. I have tried to delete my account, I can't. I have tried changing my email in settings so I receive no other emails. Can't. I have tried calling. No way to leave a message and you are directed back to their website. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY.
I don't believe the profiles on the site are genuine. I signed up, have paid through the nose, and now they are still trying to take money from my account. When you look carefully there are no contact details on their website, no names nor email addresses.
Don't waste your money on this and don't give them your email address.
Had a special on upgrading to premium and they couldnt verify my background check. I call social security and there was nothing wrong. None of my pictures were approved. Its like they want you to fail! No one wants to hire someone without a background check and a photo. I tried to get help with their customer service and they send back generic robot responses. They absolutely dont care about their users.
This site is awful. Wish Id read these review earlier Trying to get my money back and will probably have to cancel my card so they dont charge me again. What a ripoff!
This is just a subscription service that offers no guarantee youll even find a match. Thank goodness I didnt pay the $36 minimum charge.
Care.com has taken $480.00 from me after signing up for one month, even after I cancelled the subscription. There was no prospective employers on the site, and I did not get any work from it. They continued to withdraw money from my account for TWO YEARS! Stay away from this site, try others like indeed, or local companies. Terrible that companies like this will take money from people who are looking for work, typical scam artists posing as a "employment agency" STAY AWAY!
BEWARE! Care.com is not a site for assisting you in finding home care, pet care or babysitting services. This site is a "subscription" site that will continue to take your money every month, even though you've paid a higher premium "membership" for ONLY one month. If you don't clearly read the fine print somewhere else on-line or screwed if you don't know to cancel after that one month. MEMBERSHIP means subscription! So choosing the one month membership doesn't mean it shuts down after one month. BE SURE TO REMEMBER TO GO BACK IN AND CANCEL YOUR ONE MONTH MEMBESHIP. And there is no one worth hiring anyway.
Care.com helped us find quick care when we were in a bind for a little one. We don't live near family so it was the perfect service we needed to find occasional help. It was really easy to view profiles, contact potential caregivers, check references and even pay them through the site. I would recommend them to anyone!
I have subscribed for one months, then after three months find out that I am still paying. This is fraud.
Hi Roman! All of our subscriptions auto renew until set to cancel and this is clearly outlined at the time of purchase before selecting a subscription. At Care.com, we know that the process of finding the perfect caregiver is no easy task and we set out to make that experience as helpful and seamless as possible. We cannot know for certain which stage of the search/hiring process each customer is in, so we put the control in our member’s hands to inform us when they have fulfilled their caregiving needs. I will make sure to share you feedback with the right department.
When people do reviews of your work, be prepared not to have it approved until two weeks later. Also, they send your applications automatically to any job they can find, without asking you beforehand. A complete mess!
I have been using carecom for a number of years. Most of the people that take the time to show up for an interview work out. (Many make appointments for interviews and never show up.)
Recently I hired a woman who had the CNA but bad listening skills. When she came to work she was overbearing and would not listen to patient history or comfort needs. Any attempt to problem solve with her was answered with "I am a CNA!" She lasted 3 hours before I fired her. She left and within an hour she was texting me and calling me names. I told her to stop or I would give her a bad review. She didn't stop so I gave her a bad review. Carecom then allowed her to review my review. A few weeks later she was texting me again. Now she was claiming that I abused my wife. I told her if she believed that she should report me to the police. Within days Carecom canceled my membership. They won't tell me why. Today I saw they had charged me a full years membership on the days just before they terminated my membership. Although 30 days have passed, No refund has been provided.
I think that the only reason thy get by with this is that thet are the only game in town. This is a business waiting for a responsible competitor
I am also convinced that many of those that have 5 star reviews have had friends write them
We are so sorry to hear about your experience, Raymond. We would love to look into this and see if you qualify for a refund. Please email us at careteam@care.com, we're also available on Facebook and Twitter for immediate assistance. Hope to hear from you soon!
Been with Care.Com for about a year. Complete waste of time. They are constantly wanting to charge me for services. I found out I can not have a client respond to my application unless I upgrade my membership costing money. They claim it is a free service, but I beg to differ.
I tried using care.com as a care provider and despite what they say, you cannot respond to care seekers even if the care seeker has a premium membership unless you also have a premium membership. I tried sending my phone number to a care seeker to get around this and care.com hid my number "for my safety." They lie and try to seem helpful but are a money-hungry scam.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
Sorry to hear about your experience, Anu. Unfortunately, these types of scams are all over the internet- I encourage you to check out this article from the Safety Center on the site about detecting and avoiding these types of scams: http://tinyurl.com/mo787wz.
