We were looking for a companion for our mother. Able to do some light housekeeping, prepare meals, and take her on errands. The people we interviewed were all phenomenal in their own way. It was a hard decision because they were all very experienced and kind. We did hire one and she is very lovely, I recommend this service and definitely would use it again.
Unable to get what I paid for. No way of communicating with applicants, frustrating experience

I have been able to have only 1 response and she was unavailable to transport me to my destiny. Hopefully the situation will turn around after Mother's Day.

SHADY! SHADY! It's a money grab! They gave me a price of $350 for 3 months. Then tried to charge $350 a month for 3 months. Then they "go back and listen to the conversation" and say it was completely stated it was a monthly fee. Then threaten to take you to collections. I cancelled my card, so they will get nothing more from me. I mad, I didn't read the reviews prior to getting taken advantage of.

This company is a complete scam! I signed up for one month and they billed me for 8 subsequent months without a single notification. I cancelled my subscription but some error on their site made it not go through and since I never received a single notification my card was getting billed I didn't realize I had been paying for this service for 8 months without realizing it! $400 in unwanted services when i never even logged into the account as I only needed it once for a vacation nanny. DO NOT sign up it is a SCAM!

In summary, my wife created an account for us to find a cleaner, and she purchased a monthly plan (for $38.95) + unlimited backgrounds (for $20) on 4/12/2024. Fast forward a week, and we were about to hire a cleaner, but I wanted her to pass a criminal background test first. My wife tried to do it since the profile was under her name, but she couldn't do it because ID.me (their background provider) had to verify our identity first. That was not a problem because I logged in and updated her profile with my full name, address, etc. At that point, I tried to pass their verification process because I have an ID.me profile, and it came back as invalid (or something like that because it wasn't matching the original name)! At that point, I decided to contact their customer service to resolve the issue (update the profile with my info, so I can go ahead and try it again). But the representative was rude and told me that there was nothing he could do to change that and that we had to sign up all over again under my name + pay again! Needless to say, I got pretty upset and told them that I would be disputing the charges with my CC because they had failed to provide me the service I signed up for, and they went ahead and terminated my account on top of it! Here is the message they sent to us:
From: Care.com <*******@care.com>
Hi XXXXX,
Thank you for using Care.com, but we're not able to continue your membership. This is your reference ID: d3265d50-3.
Starting today, your account is closed.
At this point, I don't care about getting a housekeeper from them, but I do want everyone to know that the company's customer service is awful; plus, when you call the number that appears on your CC (in this case the number is *******922), you realize that it is a Google phone number and not even an actual phone number! Stay away...

I have NEVER dealt with a business that charges your credit card just any old time they please and lie to you and REFUSE to give the money back even tho they billed me 2 weeks before it was due and my account was cancelled, they still took money and back to back within a day! I'm in the process of getting an attorney just because I have the time! I'm sick and tired of these big companies thinking they are above the law! I have been in contact multiple times with no resolve, thr agent actually laughed at me when I said I'd leave a bad review and replied like your review matters! My review may not but I guarantee the lawsuit will matter! I'm coming for you!

Quite happy to take your membership and even after you cancel still take it. Don't respond to emails, they don't have anyone you can speak to. Apparently it's policy to take people's money even when they're no longer a member

Horrible! Pay for a month... start messaging potential candidates and then get blocked for no reason. Issue isn't resolved till 2 weeks later and then I go back into my account and can't even access anything i could before despite having 1 or week left on my access... No refund, no extension of service and strange candidates that blocked me for no reason. No thanks! They stole my money.
WORST COMPANY I HAVE YET TO SEE IN A CRITICAL CATEGORY AS THIS.
CANNOT LOGON = THERE IS NO WORKING PASSWORD AND THE HELP SECTION IS PATHETICALLY POOR!
THE` PHONE NUMBER LISTED ALSO I GUESS IS FAKE BUT WILL RING INCESSANTLY

ZERO STARS. If you are doing this in CANADA NOTE: they have no direct customer service. It is all done by an answering service that DOES NOT respond. I had to call the US customer service line (which has real people answering) and beg them to have someone BEG the Canadian people to respond to me. Still no answer.
Here is my issue: I tried to renew my subscription but the account had the wrong zip code. It would not let me set it to the right one. I didn't realize this until I tried to make payment 3 times.
To my surprise, with the WRONG zip code it still was able to take my payment all three times. BUT, I still never got access to the site to check the pending messages from the nannies I was contacting.
No harm, no foul, I figured I'd call in and get it handled. That's when I found out that the customer service was for the US accounts only, and Canadian accounts were routed to an abyss they called a "voice mail". Multiple voice mails and days later, no answer. Finally, I decided to beg the US people to think of WHO internally they could talk to that had any idea how to dredge up someone from this Canadian "voice mail" land. Still waiting...
If there is an option for ZERO star
If there is an option for ZERO star, care.com totally deserves it. Such a scam! It only cares to rip off your money without your consent. It requests you to pay one month of membership to view one profile, while secretly starting to charge you EVERY MONTH after until you realized something went wrong. Then more than a thousand of bucks got charged for that one view, and there is not even a way to talk to them about it. NO costumer service or contact number or whatsoever. If you try to dispute from your credit card company, it shamelessly refuses to pay back even one month of fee. This company only exists to steal! Protect your money and STAY AWAY!

Horrible platform and when you try to fix it you face another horrible customer service. I regret so much to pay premium because never works. They don't refund and they don't provide the service that you paid for. I wish I could sue them.

Don't waste your money
Member for a month without any response, and automatically charged for another month!
Non refundable they said
Care.com has very poor, inferior customer service. Good luck trying to call them.
They are not very fair or very reasonable. Their customer service is hit-or-miss.
I do not recommend them.

These people nickel and dime you at any opportunity they can. As a caregiver I paid for membership, MVR check, background check, criminal check, and found out that parents can't even SEE the results unless they pay FOR EACH ONE. Also, phone numbers are blocked out unless you pay through the app - because if you pay through the app, care seekers are charged AGAIN for a "safety fee." wth is the safety fee? It's nothing. They also can shadowban members. After creating a profile and having it accepted I did a search for my profile and it was not findable.
I recently had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Care.com, and I feel compelled to share my negative encounter to warn others about their questionable business practices.
First and foremost, Care.com appears to have predatory financial schemes masked behind their subscription services. I opted for a supposedly straightforward "ONE MONTH subscription" with the understanding that it would not automatically renew. However, to my dismay, the invoice revealed the fine print indicating an auto-renewal policy, a detail conveniently absent during the initial sign-up process. This lack of transparency raises concerns about the company's commitment to ethical business practices.
Furthermore, the vetting process for their employers seems lax, leading to subpar services. The platform's poorly designed website exacerbated my already frustrating experience. It consistently crashed and, on occasions, locked me out of my account, rendering the subscription virtually unusable.
Attempting to rectify the situation, I promptly reached out to their customer service when I noticed the unauthorized charge on my credit card mere hours after the auto-renewal. However, my plea for a refund was met with staunch refusal. The refusal, coupled with the deceptive auto-renewal tactic, leaves customers like myself stuck with an unwanted and unusable subscription, highlighting the company's greed and lack of customer-centric values.
The overall impression is that Care.com engages in dishonest practices, attempting to take advantage of parents seeking extra help. This experience raises serious ethical concerns about the company's commitment to customer satisfaction and transparency. I strongly caution potential customers to exercise extreme caution when considering Care.com as my encounter has left me disillusioned and regretful of my decision to engage with their services.
"Care.com is a fraudulent platform with scammers. The other day, I decided to subscribe to their website because I was in need of a job. I intended to subscribe for only one month, but I mistakenly selected three months. I immediately contacted them to adjust the payment to one month instead. However, they blatantly refused and closed the chat on me. I realized that even after making a payment, they still block you from seeing some jobs, seemingly to encourage continued subscriptions. This is a scam. Don't ever make any payment on this website; they are fraudulent."

Care.com has a completely predatory billing system.
I signed up with them and unwittingly paid for 12 months of services I did not use.
Companies with similar subscription models often will rebate unused time, when they can see a profile is not used or an ad is not placed.
Instead I got a totally uncaring email from care.com saying we say we are a subscription too bad so sad.
You simply don't care, and your customer service response is disappointing.
$600 down the drain.

I used care as one of my options over the years to find caregivers and up until the last year or so they were great to work with.
There were some limitations such as them not having workmans comp insurance for people with disabilities (had to buy that through my states options) and I did feel like their payroll company was much more expensive than necessary but it kept me legal while I focused on work and family.
This last go round they would not post my jobs for over a week even though it was the exact same listing that I have used for years outside of hours and pay rate increases. Continued to chat and initially they refused to give me a number despite my telling them there was no number on my billing statement. I finally made a complaint through the BBB and they then closed my membership and refunded me partially for my plan (they shorted me 25 bucks because they charged me for the time I couldn't use the account the full monthly rate instead of the discounted monthly amount). Then when I posted a public complaint they pretended they didn't know who I was.
I will likely have to learn of other options and resources for caregivers at this point. Please research other job options for your help, they also charge the caregivers to be on the site as well so it has affected the types of people on there in a negative way, very few options.

Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
That's wonderful news! I'm thrilled to hear you found such an exceptional caregiver. If you haven't already, please consider sharing your positive experience by leaving a review on their account.
