Horrible Bank!

Capital one is horrible. They are FDIC insured but do not follow EFTA regulations and will not protect your money from fraudulent transactions and will close your account when you file a complaint. They do this to avoid paying you back. Steer clear! You'll be tied up in lawsuits against them for years trying to correct their mistakes and negligence!

I needed a simple phone number update I was belittled speaking to foreigners there was a language barrier at which the made numeric mistakes and made it seem as if my fault no accountability. No proper English used with American citizens which is sad if call center outsourced to another country. 2 superb failed me and didn't want to help me update my number when I sent in all paperwork proving my identity. No proper notes very sad. I learned my lesson and will never do business with any out of country companies.I'm already weary of my information yet I know longer have trust in the company

I have had their app on my phone for ages and have used it. Today, when I want to use it, they FORCE me to update. So I take the time to update. But the update doesn't take effect immediately or soon. Instead, I get a message saying the install will occur "soon". Not soon enough. If they would let me proceed using the old app, that would be fine, but no. I am effectively locked out from depositing the check. Real software engineers are all dead. Capital One is LAME.

They used to be great - now they are tyrants and restrict your card for no reason. My card was locked 2 times in 24 hours for "suspicious activity". Capital One could not provide a legitimate answer as to what charges were "suspicious". I had to electronically submit a copy of my driver's license to an app the sent a link to use. After doing so they locked my card again the following day and then requested I send my social security card electronically. When I refused due to fear of potential identity theft, I was informed that my account would stay in "permanent restricted status" until I provided my Social Security Card. The only acceptable activities are to make payments or close my account and they would retain my cash back awards balance. Their policy makes it extremely difficult to be a customer. So many cards out there with better cash back programs and customer service. Time to end my 20+ year relationship with Capital One!

They used to be great - now they are tyrants and cancel your cards if a name is wrong on an invoice... doesn't matter that you call them and verify your identity and prove that your initial charge is authorized, etc. If Visa/MC flagged it once, just once, their systems will cancel your card automatically... how stupid, beyond stupid is this policy. Fraud protection should not over ride the rights of the card holder, etc. Do all of us a favor, stop using capital one - I will.

Bad bad bad

Disputed an item which Amazon failed to deliver yet claimed as delivered.

Capital One assigned and reversed temporary my credits 4 times and each time made it look like it's a final decision. I spent hours on this.

Now they claim i have already disputed and it's denied.

YES, when i called I literally said Capital One does not have my back and your reps disputed for me again and again. Why didn't they say it's final? What a waste of
Time. They are not protected customers from fraud.

Switching banks soon.

I've had Capital One for years and have loved them up until yesterday. I had a line of credit which allows me to go into the negative up to a certain amount. Without warning it was stopped yesterday. I called and they stated they sent out communication but I never received it. Also, its even still advertised on their site. To get purchases declined all the sudden was not something I was expecting and they just lost my business. I'm honestly still in a bit of disbelief this even happened.

Made payment via web pay. For some reason check never cleared
Hold put on my credit card even though this was not my fault. Never missed payment and always paid off entire amount every month. Reissued check but they will not take hold off until check clears
Shifty customer service. Stay away from capital one

After years of loyalty, they will lower your credit limit 66%. I have excellent FICO>797 never late on payments, always pay in full and still they betray you. Not using any of the cards I have with them anymore, neither is any member of my family. Please look somewhere else, this "bank" will disappoint you.

They should receive NO STAR at all!
Open a new checking account and make deposit. After check cleared from issuing bank and when I need to use my money... I found out the fund been hold and NO withdraw or transfer. Make many phone calls and all end up with recording: We will contact you within 48 hours ( Never happen!) Finally transfer 3 different department and talk to a real person but the answer is my account is under investigation with unknown reason and unknown time frame to clear what ever their investigation -- it is a month already.
File complain to BBB and wait for answer now.

Suggestion: find a real bank you can walk in ask question and talk to a real person.

Service sucks

No bank branch near me anymore. They closed down the branch. Nearest one is an 1 hour or more. Had to order a new debit card wanted it as fast as possible. But they sent it my mail. Which it will take 10 days for it to get here. Customer service representative that ordered didn't listen to anything that i wanted. This bank is pissing me off. I will not recommend this bank to anyone. They say banking made easier. Ya right for who. Them maybe but no for us Customers. Worst bank that i have been with

Disappointed

Closed all my accounts with Capital One! Very poor customer service, it's all about money. Even if their the last ones, I will never bank with them again. Look around before going with them. I'm moving on with better, more reward credit cards.

I have banked with Capital One when it was a local bank and have stuck with them through their growth. During this time I have noticed that their banking practices and ability to take money from small businesses and hold routine direct deposits for several days more after the funds have been deposited raises red flags.

In these business practices by Capital One, I am disappointed that I must now secure a new bank. I have lost trust and respect. Capital One has indicted that they have been rated number one by its customers for business banking. They do not have my vote.

It is horrible. Transactions stay in pending status forever and some even disappear only to come out of your account at a much later date. And the direct deposit schedule is totally unreliable! As of 1/15/2022 I have been with Capital One Banking for 3 months and since day 1 my payroll direct deposits have been hit and miss every time. Sometimes 2 days early in my account at midnight or 9 am or around 4 pm. Sometimes 1 day early, sometimes on scheduled payday and sometimes after scheduled payday. I would not recommend Cap 1 banking to anyone, it is very unreliable.

I've been a sparks card holder for years and the embarrassing way they have issued fraud alerts is un professional. On many occasions our company cards have been turned down and even with a phone call the issue cannot be resolved we never carry a balance for more than 20 days and have never missed a payment the reps blame the computer well if you wanna be embarrassing situation on a constant basis then you have the right card. We are moving our cards to another vendor we spend over a million a year and would rather live with 1.5 cash back than the customer service at Capitol one

Tried to wire the same transaction over and over again. They flagged my phone I used for 2-step verification! Reverted the wire, made me call the customer service 5 times in 3 days to unblock account because guess what, I cannot use my phone to verify myself, even though this number is on my account for 6 years I've been with this bank and I'm super done with this because I have to deal with this every time I wanna send someone money. Insane, they don't get feedback seriously

I paid off my card to the tune of just over $10,000.00. I mistakenly paid it twice as I pay directly. I called in plenty of time to get a check for my over payment. I was given the run around and actually insulted for calling them repeatedly as I never got the same information twice. This was worse than dealing with the cable company. They must be treating their employees horribly or I was terribly unlucky. Either way I finally after around 10 calls to so called customer service got it resolved. Not all the agents were horrible but eight out of ten were. I had to damage my credit report as I had a 20 year good relationship with Cap One. Such a pity.
But the world is changing and we will see if they can continue like this. It won't be with my money, that is for sure. There are other cards that are happy to have your business. Cap One is obviously not one of them.

I was victim of a fraudulent purchase in Istanbul Turkey. Capital refuses to admit that this was a fraud and have rejected my reported claim. Don't believe them when they insist that RFID theft is impossible. It happened to me. They will not demand any proof of purchase from the fake merchant. I am firing them as soon as possible.

Worst credit card ever!

I have 4 different credit cards for re-building credit, with that being said this is by far the worst one out of all of them, every last one of them has given me a credit line increase without asking except for this one, so when i asked they said because i was only making the minimum payments. Seriously what kind of bank would honestly say such a thing they are making money that way, however they should really be glad they are getting paid at all at this point, i have never missed a payment and always on time!

This card sucks. I've had it for several years, along with other credit cards. It is paid off at present, 0 balance, but I have a miserable $300 credit line with them. I've asked for an increase, to no avail, and if I apply for any card associated with Capital One, I'm declined. I have paid off all but two of my other credit cards and have never had a problem with any of them when asking for an increase or they will offer me one. What's up with these crooks? I guess I'll just cancel it and make more room in my wallet.
