Quite a Shock
August 31, 2022

My husband and I have had an account with Capital one over 35years. I recently received a letter telling me that, not only would they be closing my account, but that they will send me a check for the balance left. Also if I wanted to continue banking with them, I would have to fill out an application for another account. We are puzzled, and never received prior word that they were "phasing out" our account, just that they were closing it. We have NEVER had an overdraft or any complaints concerning CapitalOne, but are completely surprised by this action. Sadly, we will be finding another bank.

Ineffective
June 2, 2023

They continuously ask you for the same information over and over again when you file a dispute that way they can close it out without handling it. I provided them all the information in January, and they asked for it again in February. Then they said that I sent the information in 10 days late so the dispute is closed and there's nothing they can do.

I read review ratings where most people say that they didn't have a deposit fee. I was offered a debit credit card from capital one mail that I received recently for a total low as $200 and they still won't me to pay a $99 deposit fee before I can receive the card, so basically their actually only offering me $101 once I pay $99 out of my own pocket, unbelievably ridiculous insane. I already have the Walmart credit card from them and the interest rate is extremely high once I make my payment each month for $30 they take it all except from $8 or $10 every month on a $800 credit limit and I've only received one credit limit increase since I had the card and that was about two years ago but I had the card about four years now...

I have a $5,000 credit limit on my credit card and I make all my purchases for the month, on my credit cards. I pay off my balances in full each month without ever incurring a penalty. That's why I am loyal to Capital One.

I have had a Capital One credit card for over 15 years. Never late on a payment! Bought a product online using my card with them and it came broken. Tried to return it but the retailer but they did not let me. I called them 4 times. Then, I talked to Capital One about disputing the charge (less than $200). After the dispute Capital One requested several documents which all were provided. Talked to a dispute manager and was told if I supply this additional documentation, it should not be a problem. Shortly afterwards, Capital One sided with the retailer/merchant. I was robbed by Capital One and the retailer. This was unacceptable. After all the years, I have moved my balance over to another card and will be closing my account with Capital One. They do not protect their customers from fraud, even when they waste your time helping them build a case against the merchant. Be aware of Capital One Credit Cards - YOUR PURCHASES ARE NOT PROTECTED.

Can you believe these sobs want to charge me to make a payment by phone. Even if I use the automatic system they want to charge me a fee. The fee goes higher if you use one of their reps to make the payment. You can't pay them online you got to jump through hoops they want to turn your payment process into a profit center

Charged yearly fee literally the only day that would make my account go.36 over the limit. No notification of "account fee" listed anywhere. Why is the fee for the card 1/6th of the total card limit? Thats literally insane.

Where do I begin? Had a issue with my business account. So I opened a new account and for well over a month I have not been able to use my account. I run a business and can no longer spend hours and hours on the phone while no one is able to help me. How is this possible that not one person can give me access to my new online account? Tiered of dealing with this and headed to BB&T and will open a new account!

I opened a new account (Checking and saving). Customer service takes forever to answer a call (forever), many times the communication break and you have to call again to do whatever you want to do again. You cannot transfer your money to an external account, the only way you have is a wire transfer ($30 no matter what), but you can´t do a wire transfer until 60 days have passed since you opened your account. So I can´t transfer my money if I have any business, their credit card service is horrible (810 points and they rejected an application, and when you call to reconsider their answer is no answer, good for them).

In less than a week and already thinking to change my bank account, when you have a problem is when you see if a bank is providing a good service, and Capital One has a terrible customer service and appreciation.

Capitol one sucks
August 24, 2023

I wouldn't even even then a star. I tried to pay them 8+ times, plus all money to my 360 account 3+ times, then do 2+ 3way calls with bank corp bank plus capital one all to have my accounts closed for no reason, more of my money kept from me. One and only excuse capital one would give me is I am high risk, yet they give me a $1,000 credit card limit, plus open a 360 ACCOUNT. Anyways whoever should for no reason do any Business with these clowns

Capital One has one of the worst Customer Services departments I have ever encountered. I run a global Customer Services team so have little tolerance for poor customer services. I have had to call for the same issues multiple times and the problems do not get resolved. Either the representatives are reading from a script or while they do speak English, they are not understanding the context of the questions or requests.

I have a capital one platinum card and I'm a cancer patient I need to be able to access the funds for travel to and from treatments. And everyime I pay the balance of they put a 7 day hold on the payment. I have treatments scheduled for 7:30 am Monday and they won't release the funds till Wednesday. I'm going to have to cancel the appointment. This is literally life threatening and they don't care.credit one is definitely a better option they have the option to post payments and credit availability instantly with a small service charge I suggest you think long and hard before falling into capital one's trap.

Poor Customer Support
September 13, 2023

Have a problem with my account regarding interest, after paying off over $10,000 on my card and all the interest. They send me a statement after a month I owe an additional $4.60. Its not the money its the principal. I called and spoke to a foreign country who couldn't help me, went to her supervisor, level 2. She couldn't help me and insisted there was no one higher to help me. I paid the total amount due on the bill and still I owe $4.60. I'm so done with Capital One...

Customer service called me the "N" word. I called to dispute the sudden closure of my account and why they stole $10,000 of my reward. They claim I forfeited the rewards because the account was closed like I did something wrong. They were just rude about the whole issue. They said they were keeping the money and called me the "N" word.

Yes, this very annoying and frustrating. I get penalized for paying off the balance on my credit card each month, by getting a hold placed on my card for an entire week. Can't use my card for a whole week.

Capital one puts false information on credit reports then makes it impossible to change their mistakes. 75 years old with a FICO SCORE OF 840 Capital one allowed someone to change address, ss# Other info. That lowered my FOCO score to 600. I am 75 years old heart condition hypertension, don't have time to correct their mistakes. No one to help. Capital one has killed me, they act like it's a big joke.
