I bought winter tires in Niagara falls at Canadian tire in November to be ready. I met with a sales representative that gave me advice on tires, I was very worried about the snow after last years disaster in my vehicle, he explained the tires were all on sale so I asked for the top 3, I brought Continental winter contact S1 which were costly but I will say, awesome set of tires and recommended them to anyone, I have only 2 wheel drive Kia Soul ex great so far!
Worst service in Winnipeg, St James Street. They scheduled it for 9 days, arrived exactly at 6.15, but the salesman said that the mechanics were very busy and it was impossible to change the tires today. After a long conversation, he found a free mechanic and promised to change the tires within two hours, but after 1.5 hours he said that my wheels were not yet in stock and he did not know why or when they would be delivered. They are the worst in Winnipeg and just ruined my time…….
A couple of years ago I had returned an item without a receipt. No problem. Was issued a Refund Card. However, unknown to me, and not disclosed by the Canadian Tire staff member, a Refund Card has an expiry date of one year from date of issue. Found out this information today when I tried to use the card in store and the customer service rep said the card is "expired". I asked, "Refund cards don't expire, do they?" She didn't answer directly but advised me to "look online". Lack of transparency has me giving this company only 2 stars.
I waited half an hour for customer service to open a cabinet to get the item I was looking for.
What happened to taking care of the customers?
I WENT INTO CANADIAN TIRE TO GET SOME WORK DONE ON MY VEHICLE. The initial interaction went as expected. I went into the St. James location on Saturday April I5,2023 explained what I needed and the person behind the desk started to enter the appropriate information. I was asked if I wanted an inspection to ensure that the issue was exactly what I identified at a cost of $65.00. The counter person said he recommended this so that there were no surprises if they found other issues. I again explained that I was sure that the issues was the bearing and I wanted the appointment to get the front drivers wheel bearings done on my car. The person behind the counter then explained that I had two choices for the bearing work. One cheaper and the other a more expensive option. The difference was based on replacing the entire assembly versus going in a removing the bearing component which would require more man hours. I went with the more expensive as I knew I didn't want to play around with the bearings. He again entered the information and gave me appointment time of Monday at 11 am at the St. James location. I arrived at 10:45am on April 17,2023 for my appointment. The person behind counter entered my info and we went over the previously entered information including the inspection to determine the issue with car. I again explained that I knew what the issue was and that I didn't need this to be reconfirmed. The salesperson stated it would probably be a good idea just to make sure that there were no other issues. I agreed and was provided with the documents for signature to get the work started. I asked how long it would be and he stated a few hours. I said ok. Now I understand that things can take longer that expected but my issue with Canadian Tire St. James is the lack of clear communication with customers. I was in the waiting area for 4.5 hours. I am not sure why we have appointment times anymore because it didn't allow for better service in this instance. The initial 65.00 inspection to determine the issue didn't happen for 1 hour after my scheduled appointment time. Again I get that places get busy but the idea that I had to wait 1 hour for someone to get into my car drive it around the building then charge me $65.00 to determine that the issue was exactly what I had noted just made no sense to me. Then to have to wait almost 2 additional hours not for work to be done but to find out that the part for my car had not even been ordered was beyond frustrating. It wasn't until I approached someone at the counter was I informed that the part was not even ordered. The person could not provide any clear explanation as why but he did try and get answers as quickly as he could as he noted my frustration. I also surprised "not really" that nosupervisor and floor manager came to deal with me directly. When the part finally arrived the install was done quickly and I paid the bill and got out of the store as quickly as I could. I get that we get busy but I made the appointment to save time and get the work done in a timely manner. The fact that the necessary parts had not been ordered and that no one could have communicated any information to me is ridiculous. People are free to use whatever service they want for their cars. I just know I will spend my money with those that do the work and keep m which consisted from what I observed the mechanic driving around the building to determine that the issue was exactly what I told them it was in the first place. Once they finally brought my car in it sat for another 1.5 hours because the bearing assembly had not been ordered and was not in the store. Canadian Tire you customer service communication definitely needs work.
Ever since the new ownership took over a year or two ago, the customer service is not only gone into the toilet but it has been flushed as well.
The Powell River Canadian Tire has management that thinks it's ok to walk by a very long line of customers waiting to go through a checkout (only one till open plus customer service that we're both involved in lengthy transactions) and doesn't call assistance for more cashiers and also does not open a till himself to help out. I finally asked the young lady on the till if she could please call for more tills to open as the line was getting even longer. This has been an ongoing problem since new ownership.
This is unfortunately pushing people to not shop local.
Too bad ownership really doesn't care in the slightest. I guess if they did care, they wouldn't have let go so much staff when they took over ownership.
If you depend on a decent wheelchair or electric cart to be provided by the Canadian Tire store - forget it! Walmart, Safeway, Extrafoods seem to have no problem providing this service.
Tip for consumers:
mechanics share in profits, which pushes unnecessary work and parts.
Products used:
automotive.
I just tried returning an item. It was if as I was interrupting the two hanging around the returns counter
I just find out, all the Canadian Tire are individually, independently owned by other individual people, same like Home Hardware, Dollarama, Bargain Store, etc., No wander the customer service always bad and people are not knowledgeable, I have had many insulting service from these people, I will try hard not to spend money on my local Canadian Tire for sure.
Tip for consumers:
They don't care if they sell products or not, you can only get insulted from this store, no matter you try nice to them, or dress up nicely,... all won't work!
I have to write this review of my experience at the Canadian tire at Cedarbrae mall in Scarborough. While waiting in line to exchange a pair of rubber boots, I observed the Manager Marion speak rudely to other customers, when I asked it she could get another person to assist her she sarcastic in said no she could not. One woman in line said she had waited 30 minutes had asked to speak to another manager was told they were coming and that no one showed up. When I did get to speak to Marion she was rude and abrupt. I ended up going to another Canadian tire... I would hope in the future this Canadian tire will, review there customer service approach or they may not have customers to talk too...
