Used to be that companies would check the quality of their products before selling anything. And then it turned out to be cheaper / easier to delegate that responsibility to the consumer: if it breaks, return it. But when the retailer's return policy disallows a fair trial period we're left holding the bag (having paid for junk and unable to get our money back). When a supposedly reputable store doesn't check the quality of the goods they buy for re-sale, what are our options?
Be very careful ordering online. More then once I have placed an order online, paid for it only to be informed product not available even though it indicates on website it is available. Still waiting for my refund. Will never shop there again
At the end of June, I witnessed a security guard physically torment and yell at a woman at CT in Kitchener (Sunrise Centre). He screamed that a police officer would be at her door.
I consoled her and gave her my number in case she needed me as a witness.
She called me last night and said that she was shopping at Walmart in Cambridge when the security guard from Canadian Tire came up to her saying, "Do you remember me?" and when this woman didn't want to engage, he continued to accost her and actually found a pic of her on his phone!
She was so upset that she left the cart and the store.
Is loss prevention's job to prevent loss or intimidate people? He obviously humiliated and shamed this woman in public when she had done nothing wrong!
I suggested that she contact the owner/manager of Canadian Tire at Sunrise Centre in Kitchener to ask if it's their loss prevention policy to accost people in other cities?
Just coming from there, they asked me at the door for a jab pass to let me in! This is pure communism.
If they want to play this game of dictatorial segregation, we're just gonna buy elsewhere.
F-U, communists.
I used to swear by Canadian Tire. Recently their prices have been going up, but their quality has dropped off a cliff. Their premium in house Maximum brand used to be a guarantee of a quality. I have had an angle grinder die and hex keys that would not fit. Canadian Tire would not exchange them because I had lost my receipts, despite being 'Maximum' brand.
I do not recommend Canadian Tire anymore. I hate to say, but I've had better luck with Amazon tools.
The only reason my review has 1 star is because this site requires at least that to be able to continue writing.
I had work done at Canadian Tire on my Corolla and was told it would take 4+ hours. The work was done in less than 2 hours. But I was charged for the full 4 hours... $250. Extra. I was told that the mechanic would receive a bonus for doing the job so quickly... That mechanic definitely did not receive and extra $250.
Now I find that the problem that was supposed to be fixed... was not fixed properly.
Talking with the so-called customer service and managers at canadian tire is a complete waste of time. They have the attitude that the customer is always wrong and will do nothing to help!
I will never shop at Canadian Tire again and advise anyone else reading this to do the same. The quality of most things sold at ct is very poor and way over-priced.
I dont know which genius manager came with the idea to restrict the return policy as such! I guess he or she is not really familiar with the business domain. You guys are loosing business. I'm only coming to Canadian Tire if I really have to, I mainly prefer to go somewhere else because of your return policy. For example I buy a vacuum, Im going home, I try it and I dont like it: I cannot return it to you because I used it! Unbelievable! Yes, people take advantage of that but still, the overall gain for Canadian Tire will be higher if you revise your return policy! Thank God for Amazon!
I want to support a Canadian company... but Canadian Tire doesn't make that easy. I ordered two filters for my air cleaner online... they were a little more expensive than Amazon, and the two day delivery was the same. The day after the filters were supposed to arrive, I called them to find out why they didn't show up. I was told that it was beyond their control, and that it would be at least a couple more days. I asked them to cancel the order... no, that was not possible, goodbye. Hmmm, so much for customer service!
Bought my first one and it failed by the time I tried to use it the following season.
Got partial warranty from store manager in brampton.
Now second one has failed 2 years after.
Was told by canadian tire to contact manufacturer on line, site is useless and did not work.
Look elsewhere if you want a dehumidifier
Cant properly price their own displays then accuse customers of 'scamming' to get actual price - as on tag and on WEBSITE. Manager too lazy to walk over and resolve issue.
So happy new walmart opened 1 km away. Hopefully other customers treated like crap go somewhere else just as cheap - but better.
I purchased a cycle of 299$ and after moving out of store I noticed ripped handle of it. When I went back to store. They told me them at they don't do anything. No exchange. No repair
It's useless to take product from Canadian tire.
Don't go for it
They have really bad policy
I want to give zero star but least they take 1..
I've ordered a bunch of fishing stuff and half of my items were cancelled due to not being in stock? So i checked on the item and it says it's in stock the *****? They clearly stole my money for one and 2 the item was in stock so what the hell? I would stay far away from this site and i would rather go in the store and buy it. Online shopping on here is a joke and they're a bunch of thefts i have no words about this site i've wasted 30$ for nothing i wont be shopping online here again.
I tried as many as 5 purchases online for an item that appears in stock at many locations. I systematically receive a few hours later an e-mail stating that my order has been cancelled. Difficult to get a response over the phone as to why this occurs. Was told, out of stock, then at another location, "Place your order again, I have just set it aside for you" and few hours later, same e-mail with order cancelled. When again I receive the e-mail for order cancelled, I called to be told "we had 5 units but they were all stolen" Faulty tagging, misplaced items in store. Very irritating to do businness with Canadian Tire. Is not the first time this happens to me, but it is the last. Overall experience too aggravating to even visit their website anymore. Bravo for not failing to disappoint!
Spent 4 hours on the phone with this store and the head office trying to order tires that they had advertised in their flyer. The flyer price did not match the web site price, they people in the store were not able to correct the error and 4 hours laters, ended up with Wendy at the Corporate office who was very nice but directed the store to make things right. At 8 PM on the Friday night, I receive a call from the Grimsby store from someone that had no clue what the issue was about and had been told to sell me some winter tires. After spending some time with him starting back at square one, I gave up. Not worth it. Shame amazon does not install tires but fortunately there are some small tire outlets in our area that have competent staff. Good Bye Canadian Tire.
Filled a Canadian Tire review, tried to scam me out of $250.00
Don't do reviews with them.
I should've known better, but I didn't think this company would be part of a scam.
I've had it with canadian tire. I will never shop here again. First time leaving feedback but definitely not the first time I received very poor customer service. FYI not a good idea to insinuate your customers may not have paid for items.
I have been to one of the Saskatoon stores a few times and found the most of the staff are very rude and totally unhelpful if you order online orders make sure you check before you leave to make sure the items are not broken or missing parts I have been caught more than once at this store and again talked to manager and was little to no help
I replaced the brakes and disks, I did other services.
Went home and the car started to make noise coming from the left wheel.
I came back and the mechanic said well it's normal, all mazda 3 models does the same, I told him I didn't have that before, he said well because the brakes are new, wait until the brakes get rusty the. The noise go away.
It just doesn't make sense.
Went into this CanadianTire store located in London on Wonderland Road and told them that my parking brake wasn't working. I was told they wanted to do a brake inspection that would be deducted from the bill when they determined what was wrong.
After the assessment, I was told that I needed a new parking brake cable and full brake service paired with an estimate of $1,300 for the work.
Paid the inspection fee and went to another garage where they adjusted the parking brake at the rear wheels for $100 and fixed the problem!
Too bad you can't rate these con artists negatively!
They will guarantee their cheap and useless parts so that you come back when those parts fail... and then even though their cheap parts are free... they will charge you upwards of 125 dollars an hour to replace them... total scammers! Avoid at all costs!
Answer: Yes, all of them, no one has such a strict return policy.
