This company is terrible! A week after first inquiring about my missing online order, no one could tell me where my package was. I called 3 times and on two occasions they promised to get back to me but no one did. So I finally decided to cancel my order. The refund was short $40. When I called to ask why, they said to take it up with my bank. It was the fee for ordering and cancelling an international order (it is an American company). Heidi (customer service) said that since the item I purchased was on a promotion, it makes up for the lost $40. Im sorry, but that doesnt make me feel any better SINCE I DID NOT RECEIVE A PRODUCT! Terrible customer service. Canadians, stay away from this company.
I should have known better when "Canada" Lighting charged US $ at checkout. But the "ceiling fan" was what I wanted and the price good, so I ordered 2. Installed the first light and reached for the fan blades - no blades. Called help line - very friendly, we'll fix this right away. A week later, no shipping notice. Phoned back. Call quality so bad I couldn't understand most of what was said, but gist was that the fan blades for the advertised "ceiling fan" were extra! So what I bought was a light fixture that had attachments for fan blades if I wanted to spend more US$ to get them. Thank you to Alex McArdle who understood my extreme frustration and helped with not a happy resolution, but at least a resolution. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I don't know how they're still in business.
I ordered a console table (over $1000 CAD) through this company. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach out to them concerning the status of my order which hadn't shipped yet after one week, I decided to cancel my order. After one whole week, I still haven't heard from them, no confirmation, no refund, NOTHING! They don't answer emails, they don't reach out to their customers. Never again!
I ordered inserts for my potlights - 5" inserts. They billed me for 5" but sent me 4". They did not respond to any of my emails. When I called the toll free number I got a car dealership in New York. Stay away from this company. So glad that I did not spend any more money there. Habitat for Humanity will benefit from their screwup but I would NOT EVER recommend this company. And yes... the US thing that is a hoax too. I wouldn't even given them 1 star but you are forced to give at least one star. So what is the 1 star for? Well I guess at least they shipped something!
I ordered all mainfloor chandelliers and pendant lighting for our new home build through Canadian Lighting Experts. Excellent. Not problems at all, Shipped to Canada. I am surprised to hear other negative comments here. First of all, all my lighting shipped from various U.S. locations from manufacturers. U.S. Price included Shipping and duties. I am thrilled and would recommend this site for lighting purchases.
They do not make it known that you will pay in USD. CANADA is in the name of their company but this is an american company and you will pay in USD. When you want to return something, they will not pay for shipping to the states. They will not return your phone calls or emails either.

Selection is absolutely fabulous. But please, please make everything in Canadian dollars. It's misleading to have a website that is called Canada lighting experts, and make everything so clearly Canadian, but all the prices are in USD. Reality is most people (like I did) wouldn't think it would be in USD because it just doesn't make any sense, and we won't go reading the FAQs off the bat. I only realized right when I was going to submit my order and I hadn't budgeted to spend that much.

I ordered two lights 6 weeks ago and have not received my product or a tracking number or any indication of if/ when I will receive it. Just terrible.
The list price on CANADA light experts is in USD. The token answer given by the representative on the other posts is that they mention numberous times you will be charged in USD. The issue is, they state this in the manner that makes it sound like the list price is Canadian, but as they are an american website you will be charged the equivalent in USD (mention some nonsense about how rates fluctuate so price may not be as stated - making it sound like there is a conversion that will happen).
I have to assume this is done intentionally by the retailer to bet on the laziness or absent mindedness of the customers to not immediately check their credit card. I bought a fixture and luckily caught that it was 1.333x what I expected to pay.

First of all, this cannot be called Canadian, they quote pricing in CAD and charge you in USD, so, I lost there an amount already.
They guaranteed product is in stock and as soon as I confirmed the order I got an e-mail back that my lamp is on back order. I requested a refund and with the conversion, I lost money again.
The website clearly lists all prices in CAD and I purchased 2 lights, after 2 days I received an email from them saying that the items are discontinued and they will refund me! I checked my credit card and realized they charged me US dollars and after 15 days when they refunded me I lost $10 because of their conversion rate!

These guys are a scam - they say "Canada lighting experts" but then they charge you in US DOLLARS without telling you! We didn't find this out until we saw our bank statement! We kept trying to get customer service to get answers, all we got was an answering machine! It took over a week to ship, which means we should have gotten at least a $25 discount - they didn't honor it! THEY ARE CROOKS - DON'T BUY!
I ordered 2 Exterior Lights Timarron on Aug. 28,2016 and installed them.
In July 2021 I had to take them down because they were totally rusted through and dripping rust when it rained. They were made of non-suitable material.
I offered the seller CANADA LIGHTING EXPERTS to return them, but there was no answer within 6 weeks.

I order 2 pendant lights in March and 4 months later I am still waiting on 1 of the lights to arrive. Very poor communication and customer service. My first shipment was lost; it took them 1 month to acknowledge and send me replacements. Then the order was back ordered. When the replacement order shipped the second time I only received 1 out of 2 lights (only 1 was shipped). When I followed up (after numerous phone calls) I was told they don't know what is going on. Once again no communication and no customer service. It's RARE that they reply to an email or call back. I have been extremely patient. Yes, they did offer to refund my money. I keep hoping that they will just ship my last light. These items do get shipped from the US so the price is in USD funds. They do take your money when your order is placed rather then when it ships. They do handle the customs and duty however as of July 2020 there is no duty on items under $150. To be honest for the hassle it is not worth purchasing from this company.

I (stupidly) ordered 4 different sets of lights from this company before I realized that they are not a Canadian company at all - they are located in the US.

I purchased 2 lights that were listed as bathroom vanity lights, and when they arrived discovered that they were not rated for damp locations!
Another light was back-ordered for over a month, then they said it was no longer available!

I placed an order for a chandelier on May 22, and they processed my payment and sent me an email letting me know I would get an update when my item shipped. I went back and looked up my order status and the expected ship date was extended from June 5 to June 25th (they never reached out to let me know there would be a delay, I had to find the information for myself). June 25th came and went and still no shipment notification so I checked my order status again. Another delay, this time until the end of July. I believe they processed my payment before checking to see if they actually stocked the light fixture I had ordered. At the time of ordering, there was no indication that the light fixture was on backorder. I cancelled my order-- if they cannot process a shipment in two months I doubt it ever would have happened. I am also still waiting for my refund (their policies page said they process refunds in about 24 hours, so that isn't accurate either).
It's a shame that I cannot give a better review for this company. I was really looking forward to hanging the chandelier in my dining room as it was quite unique and I haven't seen anything similar to it in other online retailers. It would have fared better if they had waited to charge me until they could ship the item -- like lots of other online retailers do to avoid this very problem.
